There are a choice of three swimming pools within minutes walk from the apartment and just a short walk from the centre of Son Bou with its shops and supermarkets, English speaking Chemist, English speaking Doctor, and wide variety of restaurants that cater for all tastes and pockets!

Hi there! We are David and Alison Bowden, and would like to welcome you to our 'Owners Direct' page. We hope you like what you see, and fancy giving Menorca a try for yourselves, we can assure you, you wont be disappointed! We love Menorca and take every opportunity to fly over for a week or two, but unfortunately we both still work, so would like other people to be able to enjoy our apartment when we are not there.

Why Mr & and Mrs D J Bowden chose Son Bou

8 years ago we decided to 'take the plunge' and buy our own apartment, having spent many years holidaying at Son Bou while our children were young. They are now grown up with children of their own, and they all love Menorca as much as we do! Menorca has just about everything you could wish for and is great for a relaxing family friendly holiday. Son Bou beach is thought to be one of the best on the island with 4kms of soft white sand and clear turquoise sea. Great for kids. The whole island has so many beautiful beaches, some of which are shown in our photos. The whole island is easily accessible by car which we recommend, or the local buses are a very reliable way of getting around. If you prefer walking, the Cami de Cavalls is a coastal footpath round the island.

What makes this apartment unique

Our first floor apartment is in the sought after 'zone 5 of the San Jaime apartments which are tastefully laid out and are surrounded by gardens.Zone 5 is in a quieter location on the complex. We have a front balcony with sea views,with a second balcony at the back. The Apartment has two twin bedrooms with room for a 'put up bed' in the lounge area ( an extra cost for hire of bed), a bathroom with bath/shower/Bidet/WC. Kitchen with gas cooker,grill, microwave, and toaster. Living area with ample comfortable seating, Wood burning stove, TV. Information folder. In 2017, we have improved our accommodation by installing Air conditioning if required at an additional cost of £40 per week.

There is evening entertainment in the centre of the complex in season that is suitable for all ages.The complex has three lovely swimming pools and water slides that operate in the high season.

There is also a Tennis court.

We have enjoyed a wonderful week in Menorca, weather has been amazing and exceptionally hot. The apartment is great and has everything that one needs and we would certainly use it again. We had a car as we like exploring and on one day walked to Santa Thomas and back in a 3 hour round trip. We ate twice at Casa Andres in Son Bou. Food there is excellent.All in all another great holiday on this beautiful island.

Notes on accommodation: Our Apartment is reached by a short flight of stairs, you go through the wrought iron gate that secures our balcony. We recommend using a padlock on this to ensure safety if little ones are playing outside. As stated, we have a lovely Log burning stove, making our apartment ideal for a lovely winter break to tackle some walks that are not suitable to do in the summer months. Outside: The Apartments are situated in beautifully maintained gardens with grassed areas and palm trees. There are three shared pools on the complex. There is also a Tennis court available for your use. Our Patio has Large table and chairs with large sun umbrella. Utility Room: On the back balcony we have a storage unit with lilos, etc. for your use. Also an umbrella for beach use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Our Property is looked after by Menorca rentals( reception on site), who maintain it to a very high standard. The Apartment is cleaned prior to your arrival, Towels and Linen are included and are changed weekly Beach towels are not provided.

Lovely Stay!

We had a wonderful stay in this clean, well equipped apartment in Zone 4 in Son Bou Gardens which was lovely and quiet despite being in the height of summer! The apartment was very well located - the nearest swimming pool is about a 2 minute walk away and the beach about 15 minutes with plenty of restaurants along the way.

David and Alison provided plenty of advice before our stay and were wonderful to deal with. We hope to return!

Sea view apartment

Good location with lovely sea view from the front balcony. Easy access to long, sandy beach and close to footpath that goes around the entire island for those who enjoy walking. Clean, tidy apartment with plenty of seating in the living room. Information file of places to eat, visit etc very good as completed from personal experience - not just a pile of brochures. Well equipped kitchen and the shower has decent water pressure!

In need of full refurbishment to bring it up to present day standards

Uncomfortable beds made for broken sleep every night. Main bedroom requires much brighter lighting. Very noisy from other apartments, even though it was October and many were empty, wouldn't like to be there at the height of the season

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. Very sorry to read this. As you can see from other feedback both on this site and in the guestbook in the apartment we have never had such negative comments. This year, air conditioning has been installed , and the apartment completely redecorated throughout. We are looking at having the kitchen updated in the winter. The current photos on the websilte were taken 3 months ago which shows accurately how the apartment looks, and when booking you would have seen these, so would have had a good idea of what to expect. With regards to the lighting in the bedroom, for future guests, it has a ceiling light and two bedside lights. We have never had any issues with the lighting in the bedroom since 2008, when we purchased the apartment, although I appreciate this can be a personal opinion. The mattresses were replaced in 2009 , but again we will look at these when we go out ourselves in a couple of weeks time. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for the noise coming from other apartments. If any of our guests feel that other people in the resort are being unreasonably noisy late at night, one can call the emergency number given in the introductory correspondence. Hopefully you enjoyed the island and what it has to offer. Just to let future guests know that all beds and mattresses have since been replaced in October 2017.

Fantastic

We've just come home from a 10 day holiday here its our 2nd time in this apartment with our two young children. I cannot recommend it short walk to swimming pools restaurant and local shops . Not to mention the amazing sea view from balcony. Will use this apartment again!

Great apartment in a wonderful location

Just got back from 10 days at this lovely apartment. We have two young children and it's really safe. Fab location, in a wonderful resort. Only a couple of mins drive to the beach, or a min walk to two different pools. Would recommend to anyone.

Son Bou is an excellent centre for Walking, Cycling, Painting, Scuba diving, Snorkelling, but most of all relaxing!

Coast/Beach:

Son Bou beach is approximately 5 min by car or 10-15 min walk, Or you can catch the 'Son Bou Express' a 'Thomas the tank engine ' type train that runs every 25mins!

An Amazing beach, white, soft sand, 4kms long.

Travel:

Fly into Mahon Airport and either pick up your hire car from there or get a taxi to Son Bou which is approximately 20 mins away.

We do recommend Car hire if you want to explore the many wonderful towns/ beaches on the island. Buses are very reliable.

Distances:

There are so many wonderful places to visit such as the quaint 'sugar cube' town of Binibecca Vell (approx 35mins drive), Mahon Harbour (approx 25 mins drive), Cuitadella, (approx 45mins drive). Alaior, the nearest town to Son Bou (approx 10 mins drive). El Toro is approximately 15 mins drive away and is the highest point on the island, from here you get amazing panoramic views.

Everywhere is very easy to get to, no where on the island is very far away!

Further Details:

There is a Water park in Cala en Bosh.

A zoo on the way to Mahon.

A local 'mini train' that rides round Son Bou.

We recommend that you buy a Roquetta Magazine which is published monthly. It gives you details of all local events such as Fiestas, craft markets etc. going on locally.

Changeover Day:
At present, we are able to be fairly flexible with changeover days, however this may change!
Access to the Apartment is usually by 14.00hrs.
The Apartment needs to be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.
