About the property

Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall - Porthminster Beach, The Harbour, Train / Bus Stations And The Town Centre Are All Within 200 Yards

This former tin miners’ cottage, refurbished to the highest modern standards with Jo Downs’ handmade fused glasswork giving a contemporary feel, retains the character of its original incarnation by way of the revealed granite quoins in the lounge and bathroom entrance, and restored railway sleepers as decorative architectural features. Entry to the property is up 2 steps (from the street) onto the patio area. Once inside, the lounge, bedrooms and both bathrooms are all at ground floor level. There are just two steps up to the dining area, and 2 more into the kitchen, making this property particularly suited to those with mobility issues. Smoking and pets are not permitted at Rock Cottage under any circumstances, although of course you are welcome to smoke in the outside patio garden.

All linen and towels are provided, along with a small welcome pack.

Rock Cottage has a large open plan lounge/dining area, modern fully-fitted kitchen with gas oven, grill, Tassimo coffee maker for that morning cappuccino, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge has two comfortable armchairs, a sofa and a large TV/DVD player. Wi-Fi is always available. From the lounge window and patio gate there is a slight seaview towards Godrevy Lighthouse. The internal dining area is next to a patio garden with quality outdoor furniture, including reclining chairs, – ideal for morning coffee and anytime alfresco dining.

Both bedrooms are made up with high-quality bed linen on luxurious hand crafted Hypnos mattresses. Bath sheets and hand towels are provided in the bathrooms, along with quality Basic Earth Botanicals environmentally-friendly toiletries.

ROOM 1

On The Warren side, the double-bedded room has a large wardrobe, bedside tables, chest of drawers, TV and en suite shower and toilet, with wall-mounted hairdryer.

ROOM 2

Situated off the lounge, the twin-bedded room has a large built-in mirror wardrobe, chest of drawers, reading lights over each bed and a TV. There is a full-size bathroom, with bath, basin, toilet and wall-mounted hairdryer immediately next to this bedroom.

About Tony Mason

A native of St Ives, I have lived here nearly all my life. In 2005 I joined the committee of the St Ives Tourism Association as its Secretary, and was heavily involved in the development and administration of the town website, as well inspecting the properties of our accommodation members from 2006-2014. In 2016 I became a Trustees of the St Ives Archive and raise funds for them by giving guided walks of the town.

My parents ran a B & B in The Warren from 1960-2002 and opened St Ives' first open-air coffee/tea garden in 1964. It was called 'Cortina' and Rock Cottage sits on that very site.

I aim to reply to all enquiries immediately and always within 6 hours, but very occasionally this is not possible if I am away from St Ives. No enquiry is ever left unanswered. Thank you for your understanding.

Why Tony Mason chose St Ives area

I have always loved St Ives and lived in The Warren. Its proximity to the beach, the town, the harbour and public transport links make it, in my opinion, the best location in town.

What makes this apartment unique

Everything is only a short walk away from Rock Cottage - the beach is 200 yards away (less if the tide is out) and the town centre and harbour are equally close. But if you need to use you car, it is just 200 yards from Rock Cottage in your numbered, reserved space on the railway station car park.

There is also a small outdoor patio - ideal for anytime alfresco dining or general relaxation.

If the tide is out Porthminster Beach is 50 yards away and is accessed down a flight of steps. If the tide is in, you have a 200 yard walk to the slope down onto the middle access point of the beach.

Public transport links to St Ives are excellent, and Rock Cottage is just 200 yards from the train and bus stations.

Further Details:

The town centre and harbour are both within 250 yards. You are very near many small local traders, food shops and quality restaurants. The nearest major supermarket is one mile away on the main road (A3074) into St Ives but there are a couple of good ones within easy walking distance at Tregenna Place and at Royal Square (in the town centre).

St Ives Leisure Centre (with swimming pool) is two-thirds of a mile from Rock Cottage.

Outside: There is a small patio garden in front of the entrance for al fresco dining, with quality garden furniture, including reclining chairs, plus a barbecue area, for use with disposable barbecue packs. From the entrance gate there is a glimpse of the sea and Godrevy Lighthouse. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, linen are included and changed after a week. The property is cleaned weekly. Other: The internal dining area is next to a patio garden, and situated between the kitchen and the lounge, with ample dining space for for 4 people.

Booking Notes:
Your booking is complete once you have received confirmation from the Owner of receipt of 30% of the total fee (“the deposit”), which is acceptance of your booking in accordance with these terms and conditions. Please check this confirmation carefully upon receipt of it and contact the Owner immediately if you have any queries.

The outstanding 70% balance of the tariff must be paid in full 8 weeks/56 days before the start date of the holiday plus the sum of £100 refundable damage deposit.

Changeover Day:
For weekly bookings changeover day is Saturday. The property is available from 2 p.m. on arrival day and must be vacated by 10 a.m. on the day of departure. Should you arrive early, the car parking permit will be available from 11 a.m.

Notes on prices:
Lettings are generally Saturday to Saturday; prices are based on 4-person occupancy.

Shorter bookings (minimum 3 nights) are available outside the school holiday weeks and peak periods – please contact for details.
