About the Owner
We have lived in France since 2010 and before that, spent many wonderful holidays here. Our love affair with France started many years ago and, in 2000, we finally took the plunge and bought Les Coudreaux! When we first saw what was to become our new home, it was a "romantic ruin" but we knew instantly that it was the place for us and we think you'll feel the same about your holiday here. We live on site so are on hand (as much or as little as you like) to help you and provide you with ideas on places to go, things to see and do etc. Our aim is for you to have a perfect holiday and we look forward to welcoming you soon. Kind regards, Lynne & Simon
Guestbook comments from the owner
What a great way to end 2015 and to begin the new year! As always, Les Coudreaux is a retreat where we can recharge our batteries by enjoying relaxing walks and tours of the surrounding area. Many, many thanks Lynne & Simon for your hospitality which, in essence, is the spirit of this charming venture. Your success is as a result of your efforts!
From the Owner
“We are lucky to be able to live in one of the most beautiful corners of Normandy. The "bocage" (hedgerows in English) is a delightful mixture of woodland, pasture and winding country lanes. You feel like you a world away and yet, it's really easy to get to. We are surrounded by some lovely places to visit and there are plenty of things to see and do - if you can bring yourself to leave Les Coudreaux that is!”
Activity and Interests
There are some beautiful beaches at Carolles and Jullouville near Granville. These are approximately 1 hour by car. Also, the D-Day Landing Beaches along the Normandy coast west of Caen are a "must see" and approximately 2 hours from us. Why not make a day of it and also visit the famous Bayeux Tapestry?
Our nearest ferry ports are either Caen-Ouistreham or Saint Malo (both approx 2 hours by car). Our nearest airport is Rennes (1 hour) or Dinard (2 hours). The use of a car is essential.
We are ideally situated to visit a variety of places including Saint Fraimbault (4 miles) - an award winning "France in Bloom" village, Domfront (9 miles) - a medieval walled town (birthplace of Eleanor of Aquitaine's daughter), Bagnoles de l"Orne (18 miles) - a delightful Belle Epoque spa town, Mont St Michel (40 miles) - world famous abbey and village in the Bay of Mt St Michel. Jublains (18 miles) - Roman ruins and many, many more.
Gorron is our nearest town (approx 4 miles) and has a good range of shops including the supermarket, boulangeries, charcuterie et boucherie, banks, cafés and restaurants, pharmacy etc.
For further ideas on places to visit and things to see and do, please look at our website. We will also be delighted to give you lots of ideas during your holiday with us.

From the Owner
“When we created our gîtes, we wanted to offer our guests a touch of luxury. We have restored our barn back to its former glory and we have kept many of the original features that give the place its charm. At the same time, we've included all the essentials of modern day living for a really comfortable stay. Both our gîtes have their own private deck and garden and, of course, to make your holiday even more special, we've installed an indoor swimming pool and games room. We are delighted to offer our guests a welcome basket which includes all the essentials to get you going and, depending on the season, we also love to share our home grown produce. A daily bread delivery service and/or evening meals are also available (at extra cost).”

- Notes on accommodation: If you are looking to accommodate more people, why not check availability of Le Petit Bijou - our charming 2 person gîte which is right next door. An ideal way for grandparents to come on holiday and, at the same time, have their own space. Our gîtes are deceptively spacious and many of our guests comment on how much bigger they are than they appear on the photographs! We are delighted to offer our guests a complimentary welcome basket with all the basics to get you going. We also enjoy sharing our home grown produce with our guests (depending on the season, of course!). If you'd like more information, please don't hesitate to call or email us. You can also find lots of useful information on our website. Outside: Both our gîtes have their own private deck, barbecue and gardens equipped with table and chairs and sun-loungers. Le Trou Normand's garden also has a little wooden cabin which children love to play "house" in. The indoor heated swimming pool is shared by both gîtes and is approx 5.5 metres long by 3.5 metres wide. It is 1.5 metres deep along its entire length.
