Possibly The Sunniest Roof Terrace In Old Antibes

Updated: 29-Sep-2016
Apartment in Antibes, Alpes Maritime, Cotes D'Azur, France - 3 Bedrooms, 2 Shower Rooms, Fabulous Location, Well Equipped & Comfortable with Terrace

This apartment is situated in the heart of Old Antibes in one of the most picturesque pedestrian streets. When you stay here you will have cafes, restaurants and boutiques on your doorstep so you will truly be 'in amongst’ the character and style of the Old Town, whilst also having your own comfortable oasis to easily retreat to. The magnificent harbour and beach is just five minutes walk from the apartment and there are also several larger beaches a short stroll away. More than 100 excellent restaurants and cafes are also ‘right on your doorstep’ so that you can enjoy a great meal with a glass or two of wine and then meander home for a night cap on the beautiful terrace. The apartment makes an ideal location to explore the town as well as being an ideal centre for exploring the Cote d’Azur. The train station connecting Antibes to the whole of this beautiful region is nearby as are public car parks if you decide to hire a car.

My family of 6 adults stayed very comfortably in the beautiful apartment. This apartment is really home from home, everything we needed was provided for. The apartment is spacious, clean and airy. The roof terrace is wonderful with a great parasol to help keep the mid day sun from burning. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner on the terrace. The beds are comfortable and fans were provided for the apartment to help keep us cool as the weather was extremely hot during the day and night. A washing machine and dish washer are provided, we didn't use the washing machine but make use of the dish washer. There are two shower rooms and a lovely lounge with Skye TV. We were able to keep up with all the action at the olympics which was great. The apartment is in a pretty pedestrian only street, you will have to bring your luggage from a cab up the cobble roads to the apartment door. The restaurant next door to the apartment did lovely food and even did us a takeaway putting our pasta dishes in bowls which we cleaned and took back the next day. The apartment is so close to many beaches, in the summer season it is wise to get to the beach before mid day if you don't want to hunt for a space. There are so many places to walk in the evening which have a lovely atmosphere, street entertainers, evening markets and bustling bars and restaurants. We took the train and had breakfast in Nice, lunch in Italy and dinner in Monocco. Fab day out so much to see. I can also recommend a trip to Cannes try the Segway's they are so easy to use and a fantastic way to see the city. 1 hour for 30 euros, very good value, with an excellent guide. We had such fun and will be booking the South of France again and would Definately stay In this apartment again. Helen and Family - London

What Helen loved about your listing:

The whole experience was great, loved the apartment and the setting. The front door did cause a bit of an intake of breath when we first arrived but has no reflection on the apartment, but did make us smile with the reaction of passers by as we exited the doorway.

What Helen thought you could improve about the experience:

No sure if you can, air con would be good but understand this isn't practical in the old building.

At the centre of it all

If you want a location that is at the centre of Old Antibes, look no further than this property. With a location on Rue James Close, you are on a side street that still has a lot happening on it, be it in the form of cafes from which to grab the quintessential croissant and cafe au lait, boutique shops in which to purchase a gift or personal reminder of your holiday, or bistro style restaurants. You are also a very short walk from a wider selection of restaurants, shops and local markets as well as supermarkets, as well as to several museums and the seawall. Old Antibes has a very laid back, casual vibe and this property is in keeping with that feeling. You enter a very nondescript doorway and have to walk up three flights of narrow stairs to get to this apartment, so the first downside is that if you have mobility issues and easy access is important, this is not the place for you. The apartment itself is well laid out, with three bedrooms, two adequately sized ones on the main floor with a well stocked kitchen and a dining area, as well as a full bathroom. The roomy master bedroom is on the upper floor, where there is also a full bathroom and a casual living room. What really makes this apartment though, is the outdoor terrace, one big enough to house a six seater table as well as have room for two loungers, where we enjoyed al fresco breakfasts of croissants and pain au chocolat every morning, along with the odd charcuterie styled lunch. Small details such as beach mats, beach umbrellas and wine coolers left good impressions, as did the cleanliness of the place, the personalized welcome by the property manager and the offer of a private taxi service from and to the airport.

Downsides include the fact that along with being on the third floor of a building with no elevator, it is also located right above a restaurant, which luckily enough for us was only opened 2 of the nights we were there. However, we went in the shoulder season, so not sure if it does more business in the busier summer months. Being on a busier side street, there can be a fair bit of traffic at night but again, for the time of year we were there, that was not a major issue. If you like to sleep in however, you may find that a bit difficult, unless you can sleep in a room with the windows shut (there are fans), as I was woken early each morning to the sound of street cleaners, both mechanized and handheld brooms. That being said, would definately recommend.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest Thank you for your delightful review, we are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you again in the future. The stairs are listed in the advertising as not advised for people with mobility issues. The street cleaners wake everyone up all year around! Including myself! We hope to see you, your family and friends in 2017. Thanks so much!
