About Lorraine Harrison

I'm Lorraine and I live in the farmhouse next to the cottages with my partner Geoff and our two teenage daughters. We moved here in 2000 just before the children started at school. Growing up with large gardens to run and play, animals and the beach just down the road was the perfect start for a four and two year old. Over the years we have become friends with many of our guests who return time after time, some of whom have actually moved nearby. We show all our guests into the cottages and are always here if you have any problems or you just want a chat. Having worked for John Lewis for over 20 years, looking after our customers/guests is our top priority.

Why Lorraine Harrison chose North Cornwall

We looked around north Cornwall for two years to find somewhere to buy, but nothing excited us, until we turned into the tree lined drive of Trenannick Farmhouse. It was a thundery day in December 1999 and there were massive downpours, but the moment we turned into the drive Geoff said he wanted to buy it. It could have been a total wreck and we would have moved in, but luckily everything was perfect.

We had looked at many properties before but the combination of a 16th century farmhouse, the kind of cottages that we would like to have stayed in, the views, and the great base for future guests to tour from made the decision to buy a very easy one.

What makes this cottage unique

We have the best of all worlds here. The views, the peace and quiet, the slower pace of life, locals have time to talk to each other, beach visits after school, walks on the moor and along the coast, great pubs and restaurants, a great local cinema, what's not to like!

With the A39 just down the lanes this is the perfect base to explore all that north Cornwall has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This has been a gorgeous week – the cottage is so cosy and has really felt like home away from home. It has been so nice to let the kids out to play and feel that they are safe.

Heaven is a place called Trenannick Cottages. A real home from home, wonderful warm greeting from Lorraine and Geoff. We have never stayed in such a beautifully well kept and equipped accommodation in such a peaceful location.

We came here in need of rest and relaxation and our expectations were high. They have been surpassed.

Coast/Beach:

Crackington Haven is our nearest beach, five miles and about ten minutes away by car. This is our and many of our guest’s favourite place, whether it be a days sunbathing, surfing, rock pooling or walking, Crackington Haven is laid back and relaxed. With only two car parks the beach doesn’t get as busy as many of the larger beaches along the coast.

Travel:

North Cornwall is not renowned for its public transport and with the cottages being in a rural area having your own car is essential.

All distances are approx:

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Beech Cottage is the far left of the front cottages and is affectionately known as ‘the upside down house’. There is a small private garden with seating to the front of the cottage, where you can sit in the sunshine and enjoy the peace and quiet. Pets are welcome in this cottage. Outside: Cottage has it's own small private garden to the front, which looks over the two BBQ areas with picnic tables, where you can see distant views over the fields to Dartmoor. The lower farmyard and field is home to pygmy goats and free range chickens, which the children and adults are welcome to feed. A large playing field with swings is to the right of the cottages and there is a small copse to the rear where you can exercise any dogs that you have brought with you. All this stands at the end of a private tree lined drive which in turn is off of a quiet country lane, just two miles from the A39 Atlantic Highway.
