Villa Yiali has one air-conditioned bedroom (with extra fold-down bed or cot), and is fully self-contained with kitchen, one bathroom, sitting area, large balcony and private outside space. Enjoying stunning views over the adjacent islands of Skiathos and Evia, the gardens and pool area are a haven of relaxation. In addition, the location at the edge of the village of Glossa means that shops, bakery, cafes and tavernas are within a few minutes walk. Otherwise the beautiful area to the north of Skopelos island is also within easy reach with many walks and trails accessible. The west facing aspect delivers the most breathtaking sunsets from the garden, whilst the sun traverses from the south giving all-day sunshine – the terrace and trees giving shade and cool when required.Glossa is situated on the northwest coast of Skopelos, 10 minutes from the port of Loutraki where the ferry docks from the neighboring island of Skiathos and the nearest airport. The ferry journey is about 25 minute

About Tony Askew

We are an English couple who have holidayed in the Greek islands for almost 30 years. Six years ago we came to Glossa, fell in love with Villa Yiali and bought it as a tumbledown cottage. Three years ago we started to restore the house, then in 2011 we moved to live in Glossa permanently. We care passionately about the village, we try to use local produce, local shops and local trades. Our goal is to provide a memorable holiday experience for our guests and introduce the delights of the island, it's beaches and countryside. We live in the house next door and are on hand for information and advice if needed.

Why Tony Askew chose Thessaly

Glossa is a village with real atmosphere. It isn't a 'chocolate box' of a Greek village, but is both picturesque and quiet. Night life is found in Skopelos town, and for a few weeks in the height of summer, down by the beach bar. The narrow streets and interlinking steps in the village keep traffic to the minimum, but don't be surprised to see the odd donkey still being used to transport goods! There is a selection of tavernas offering a variety of food, both local and international, several small local supermarkets and bakeries. We love the location because it is on the edge of the village, we can walk to all the amenities and a car isn't always essential. Glossa is the most friendly village and a cheery 'Yassas' to the locals will bring a smile and warm response.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Yiali enjoys an 'edge of the village' location, meaning that it is quiet and secluded when you want it to be, but the amenities of the village are all within a 10 minute stroll. For those preferring not to drive, the local bus is just a short walk away, and the nearest beach can be reached by the newly restored footpath within half an hour. However, it is possible to drive to within 10 metres of the front door. The garden provides stunning outdoor space, unusual in a village house, from where you can enjoy exceptional views, watch wildlife including Eleanora falcons, lounge around the 7x4 metre pool or simply watch some of the passing ships traversing the azure Aegean.

Notes on accommodation: This former ‘kalivi’ was painstakingly restored in the traditional village style and is finished to a high standard of craftsmanship. The private garden, pool area and planted terraces provide a ‘home from home’ feel. We make sure that we provide most kitchen essentials that many rental house lack such as condiments, some spices , sugar, coffee and tea together with our own olive oil for the kitchen. Soap powder, washing up liquid, in fact most kitchen comforts that we feel you shouldn't have to worry about on your holidays. We also provide all towels including beach towels and pool towels. There are even beach mats and an umbrella available for that inevitable visit to one of Skopelos’s enviable beaches. If your stay is in July or August, as a highlight your holiday, the price will include dinner for two on one night at the acclaimed Agnanti restaurant (5 minutes walk away). Please ask us for details. Outside: There is a private garden area approx 400 sq. mtrs. with a swimming pool of 7m by 4m, gently sloping to a depth of 1.6m. Along two sides of the pool are underwater seating areas allowing relaxation and refreshment at the same time. The private gardens are not overlooked and offer stunning views over the Aegean to Skiathos, Pilion, towards Mount Olympus in the north and even towards Athens. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels/beach towels/pool towels and linen provided. The house is cleaned and bed linen changed mid-week. Outside BBQ, pool shower, sunbeds. Don't use valuable luggage space with towels as they are all provided.

on arriving at this beautiful island we were met by Tony and Karen (the owners) .we were then taken to the most charming villa yialli.

Everything was perfect, beautifully presented and everything you needed was there, we had the most perfect 10 days,, thanks to Tony and Karen , and the wonderful village of GLOSSA and its very friendly people. We both look forward to returning soon,

Booking Notes:
Please contact us for booking details. A deposit of 20% is required to confirm booking. Payments can be made directly to our UK account or by PayPal. Deposits received will confirm booking with the remainder to be paid 6 weeks in advance of arrival. Cancellation will forfeit your deposit if it is more than 6 weeks, if less than 6 weeks the full cost is payable.

Changeover Day:
Friday is normally changeover day. Out of main season you can request staggered weeks. We usually ask guests to vacate by 10.00 as this fits in with the ferry timetables, if you travel independently we can organize day accommodation until departure.

Notes on prices:
20% deposit is payable, by bank transfer or PayPal. The balance is payable 6 weeks before departure. Cancellation more than 6 weeks from arrival will forfeit the deposit, within 6 weeks then the full balance is payable. Please contact us for details for booking, and of course longer stays can always be accommodated subject to negotiation.
