Old Codgers Cottage, Windermere, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Quiet Central Location A Minutes Walk To All Amenities And 20 Minutes Walk To Lake Windermere

Old Codgers Cottage is a traditional Lakeland stone cottage that dates back to 1850, located right in the centre of Windermere village close to pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. Our home from home cottage consists of 2 double bedrooms, luxurious shower room, comfortable lounge with a flat screen TV, DVD & stereo with numerous DVDs, CDs and Wi Fi, a cosy coal effect gas fire enables you to enjoy the traditional cottage ambience after a hard day on the fells. The dining kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and dryer. There is a good selection of DVDs, CDs, books and games to help you relax after a day exploring the Lake District. To the rear of the cottage is a small enclosed pet friendly garden area with a patio table and chairs that allows you to enjoy the Lake District evenings sipping a glass of wine or one of the local produced Lakeland ales. A free on street parking permit is supplied to guests. Travel cot and highchair are also available.

Our aim is to give you the holidaymaker a holiday to remember in our quaint little cottage, we both thrive on making our guests feel welcome and comfortable during their stay at Old Codgers. We offer a service that is second to none in self catering cottage holidays from the initial enquiry, arrival to departure we always do our upmost to ensure our guests have a great time. We have many guests making return visits to stay with us from all over the world and we feel privileged that guests want to stay with us time and time again. We are always available to answer any queries regarding the cottage or surrounding areas by e mail or phone to ensure our guests have a brilliant lake district holiday.

My wife and I bought Old Codgers Cottage as we love Windermere and the Lake District, we have spent a lot of time over many years in the area and Old Codgers Cottage is central to everything with an array of shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. It is easily accessible by road or rail and there is plenty of public transport. We love the beautiful scenery and the peace and tranquillity the lake district has to offer and its amazing how this stunning area of natural beauty seems to change throughout the seasons.

What makes this cottage unique

Parking outside the cottage and walking straight through the front door which is remarkable for right in the centre of Windermere, Old Codgers Cottage is the most central holiday rental cottage in Windermere. All the shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and eateries are all within a 300 metre walk from the doorstep. It is a prime position and many locals don't have this privilege as to park your car right in the centre with a free parking permit.

Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen is included in the rental rates and made up ready for arrival. Please bring your own towels.

Travel:

By car. From Junction 36 of the M6 follow the A590 ( A591 ) to Windermere. Follow the dual carriageway to the large roundabout just outside Kendal. Carry on along the A591 to Windermere. After 5 miles turn onto High Street, after 60 metres turn left on to Victoria Street then left on to A5074 ( Crescent Road ) after 70 metres turn left into Beech St. By Train. We're 5 minutes walk from Windermere railway station. By Air. Manchester airport is about 70 miles from the cottage.

Windermere 100 metres, Bowness 1 mile, Kendal 8 miles, Kirkby Lonsdale 18 miles, Keswick 22 miles, Carnforth 24 miles, Penrith 27 miles, Lancaster 30 miles, Carlisle 45 miles.

Our cottage is located in the town of Windermere known as the heart of the Lakes with many attractions including launches of the lake, The World of Beatrix Potter exhibition and many shops, pubs and restaurants area all within easy walking distance with numerous walks on the fells from the door. It offers and excellent base for all popular pursuits in this premier Lake District location. For an enjoyable experience whatever your age, take a cruise on one of the lakes. Combine this with a ride on a steam train or on an open top double decker bus, all are very rewarding and an excellent way to see the surrounding countryside. Windermere is now a bustling cosmopolitan environment with cafes, bars and restaurants. Not only is the cottage in the centre of the Lake District National Park which you can enjoy the beautiful scenery the area has to offer but also the attractions of the National Park visitor centre at Brockhole between Ambleside and Bowness, Wray Castle almost opposite Brockhole, and the first Lake District holiday home of Beatrix Potter. The natural splendour of the area has provided inspiration for great writers, poets, artists and craftsmen. Hill Top is where Beatrix Potter wrote her celebrated children’s stories. The poet William Wordsworth spent many years in the village of Grasmere and his homes Dove Cottage and in later years Rydal Mount has many memories of the great man. Grizedale Forrest, south west of Hawkshead, has marked trails for cycling as well as walking and orienteering. The Lake District National Park contains 16 major lakes, 2000 tarns, 400 towns and villages and has 2225 miles of public footpaths and bridleways. Lake Windermere is the largest lake in England at 10.5 miles long and 1 mile wide. The Lake District also has more than 150 high mountains, 6 national nature reserves and 100 sites of scientific interest.
