3 bedroom family farmhouse, en suite master bedroom

Casa Maria is a typical Catalonian farmhouse located in the countryside just 4km from the popular fishing port resort of L'Ampolla. It has recently been restored and renovated offering 3 bedrooms (1 en suite) sleeping 4 adults and 4 children, a spacious well equipped kitchen and dining room, lounge with satellite TV, and a 2nd shower room. The preservation of the original features allow the blending of old world charm with modern comfort and convenience. The farmhouse sits amongst acres of it's own olive groves. The non overlooked swimming pool, pool-side BBQ and shaded seating area offer an ideal setting for an idyllic family holiday, for those seeking a calm and relaxing interlude from the stresses of modern life. A 5 minute car ride will take you to the sandy beaches of L'Ampolla and the river Ebro delta bird sanctuary. Alternatively, the surrounding countryside offers countless opportunities to explore.

'Diada de L'Ostra del Delta' called oysters from the Delta, this is a celebration during the daytime on the harbour front when you can sample locally caught oysters followed down with a glass of local Cava.

14th May

Ironcat champion of Catalunya- triathlon.

17th to 26th June

Festival of Saint Joan. A week long festival with fireworks, street entertainment, music, late night dancing, giants and bulls on the harbour.

14th to 17th July

Festival of the VIrgin Carme, patron of the fishermen. Music, street balls, children's parties, concerts, bulls, culminating in a sea procession and fireworks display in honour of The Virgin Carme.

6th August

A 'Magical Night' - an evening party with street performers.

11th September

'Tres Tombs'. Horses, ponies and traditional carts and carriages walk through the streets of L'Ampolla and are blessed by the church.

18th September

'Festa de la Sega', festival of rice at the harbour.

The River Ebro: The River Ebro is famous for fishing 'catfish' and 'carp' and is the longest river in Spain. It terminates at the delta which stretches for many miles where many migratory birds call on their way to their breeding grounds. The river is a Mecca for fishermen as some of the fish caught are much heavier than in the UK. Barbell, Roach, Mullet and Zander can all be found in the waters of the Ebro. The surrounding countryside along the river is spectacular with rugged mountains, scented pine woodlands and secluded villages where friendly locals welcome you warmly into their bars and restaurants and make some wonderful pottery and even better wines.

A quiet retreat and a good choice for us....

The property is furnished extremely well, has great facilities and a really lovely pool area.

We decided to stay here so that we could just read, sit in the sun and if we wanted to; just stay here without going out. The property is almost in the middle of nowhere although is in close proximaty (5 mins by car) to the village with some good restuarants (a few that we used). There are some really nice places to visit and some of the best beaches within a short driving distance. John who met us to take us to the property was informative and friendly and had no issue giving us advice on places to go etc.

My only advice on going here is to not do what we did, make sure that you get there during the day as trying to find anywhere in the dark is near impossible.

All in all, a great place and somewhere we'd definately go back to...!!

Owner's Response: Quite right Nick. A night-time arrival in the dark is not ideal. But at least we are not far away in case of problems. This is the first year that we have rented out the house. It has been a great success overall, and we are looking eagerly towards next year.

Accueil simple et très avenant. La maison est bien agréable et le site également, à l'écart du bruit mais proche des commodités de l'Ampolla, au coeur des oliviers.

Les enfants ont apprécié l'espace et la piscine...

Un simple et beau séjour en famille et entre amis.

gemütliches Landhaus

Wir (2 Erwachsene, 2 Hunde) verbrachten von Anfang April bis Ende Juni 2014 fast 3 Monate in der Casa Olloz, da wir uns beruflich in Katalonien aufhielten. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die sehr gute Ausstattung des Hauses (riesige Wohnküche mit allem was man zum Kochen braucht) macht es auch für Langzeitaufenthalte sehr geeignet. Das Internet funktionierte sehr gut, was wichtig war, da mein Mann von zuhause aus arbeitete. Den tollen Kaminofen haben wir anfangs an den noch kälteren Abenden gerne genutzt und später dann den Außengrill und Pool. Die Hunde konnten sich auf dem Grundstück frei bewegen und man hatte sehr viel Ruhe, da es keine direkten Nachbarn gibt.

L'Ampolla, ein sehr nettes Städtchen am Meer, das alles bietet, was man im Alltag braucht, ist mit dem Auto sehr schnell erreicht, so dass man abends z.B. gut in einem der Restaurants dort essen gehen kann, oder einen Spaziergang am Meer machen kann.

Die Verwalter John und Carol waren uns eine große Hilfe, sie sind sehr, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einige kleine Probleme im Sanitärbereich konnten wir mit John's Hilfe beheben.

Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder, sobald sich die Möglichkeit ergibt.

Mooie vakantie

We hebben een mooie en hele leuke vakantie gehad in dit huisje, met een heerlijk zwembad erbij. Onze 3 kinderen hebben zich prima kunnen vermaken en ook het dorp en de zee zijn in ongeveer 6 minuten te bereiken. Er was een goed ontvangst en als er iets niet in orde was werd dit door De Fam. Upton direct verholpen.

Wifi vonden de kinderen ook erg prettig en ook het hebben van 2 badkamers is fijn .

Voor ons was het een prachtig huisje en een hele mooie rustige locatie.

Idéal pour le repos

Super séjour en toute quiétude en juin 2012 dans cette petite propriété perdue au coeur des champs d'oliviers. Idéal pour se reposer, recharger les batteries dans un cadre privilégié. Et le tout à moins de 10 minutes de la plage!! L'endroit est parfait, la maison bien équipée, les gérants très disponibles. Nous y retournerons surement.

Calme et tranquillité !

Une superbe maison perdue au milieu des oliviers, qui permet un repos assuré !

La maison est très spacieuse et agréable. Même sans climatisation, nous n'avons jamais souffert de la chaleur (maison ancienne qui garde le frais).

La maison est très bien équipée : ustensiles de cuisine au complet, très bel électroménager, transats, linge de maison, ... tout y est !

La personne chargée de la location est très disponible et agréable.

Le seul bémol à ses superbes vacances a été quelques petits soucis d'eau chaude.

The property is situated 4km north of the fishing port of L’Ampolla, on the edge of the famous bird sanctuary that is the Ebro Delta, anglers paradise. L'Ampolla itself is still unspoilt and full of family owned restaurants, bars and small shops. The harbour is modern, with a marina and nautical club. There are many beaches within easy reach. Along the coast there are many small towns and villages, each with their own individual charm. Each village has it's own market day, an adventure in itself. For the young at heart, Salou and the theme park and water parks of Port Aventura are just 30 min away by car or train. Just a little further will take you to the historic city of Tarragona featuring a Roman amphitheatre. In the other direction, the local administrative town of Tortosa offers a myriad of shops, restaurants and park areas. Barcelona, to the north, and Valencia in the south, are 2 hours away, by car or train. Venture inland toward the mountains and enjoy spectacular scenery.

Other Activities: bird watching, various water sports including canoeing on the river Ebro. A new 18 hole 'pitch and putt', 3 par golf course and golf driving range
