Privately owned spacious first floor apartment situated at the sought after front line location of the entire Sao Rafael complex in the Algarve with stunning sea view. The apartment offers the shortest walk to the two lovely beaches (both within 10 minutes). Sao Rafael beach was voted as Portugal’s best beach and the 4th best in Europe in 2009. The large swimming pool facility with a children pool is just a short walk from the accommodation through excellently kept matured gardens. The apartment is just 3km from the centre of old Albufeira town and the fisherman's beach. The wonderful sandy cove of Sao Rafael is just a five minute walk away. The new Marina is a short walk away and many boat trips dolphin watch or other trips can be made here. Then you can walk a little further into Albufeira old town or get a taxi for just 5 Euros! Local amenities including supermarket, bars and restaurants can be found within a 10 minute walk from the accommodation.

About the Owner

My name is Carolina and my family and I have been going to Sao Rafael resort for our summer holidays for the past 20 years. Sao Rafael has become a home away from home for us and when the opportunity arose, my parents could not resist and purchased an apartment within the Sao Rafael Resort. We have been spending a portion of our summer holidays at Sao Rafael almost every year for the last 20 years. We have enjoyed snorkelling from the beaches, the landscapes are dramatic and the sea view is stunning. The resort offers a peaceful environment for us to escape from our hectic city lives and yet only a short drive into the old town of Albufeira which is buzzing with activities in the summer months. There are many activities suitable for all ages and now I am able to share these experiences with my daughter and husband. One of the main attractions for us is that Sao Rafael had maintained a tranquil and peaceful family environment over the years and their careful architectural considerations to the landscape.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The resort boasts two wonderful sandy beaches, Praia de Sao Rafael and Praia Grande. These are just under 10 minute walk away. Many other beaches are just a short drive away.

Travel:

40km from Faro airport. (30 minute by car). Lisbon is a 3 hour drive away. Car hire is recommended but not essential.

There are local buses a 5 minute walk away.

Distances:

Albufeira old town is just 5 mins away by car with a great variety of shops, restaurants and street entertainment in season. Montechero is 10 mins away by car for more shops, restaurants, bars and night clubs. The new marina is just a 15 min walk away. Zoomarine and Aqualand are 20 mins away by car.

Further Details:

The summer season seems to start from June to late September with temperatures in the mid 30 degree.

Spring in the Algrave is stunning with mild temperature which is perfect for golfing and also for a cycling holiday - both on and off road.

The apartment is only a short walk to local amenities, the deck chair and table offers a lovely setting for lunch and with the two sun loungers, the great lazy afternoon readings. The apartment is spacious and has a relaxing feel and only a short walk to the beaches and the swimming pool which is perfect for us.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are heaters in the bedrooms and lounge for the winter months with a fire place in the lounge. This is an ideal family holiday accommodation. Travel cot can be provided at an additional cost. Outside: Balcony off the lounge and the two bedrooms, Sao Rafael has lovely landscaped gardens and stunning seaview. Less than 10 minute walk to both nearby beaches. Both beaches have a restaurant and a bar as well as lifeguards during the summer season. You are unlikely to be disturbed by venders with cut price goodies. The apartment is situated less than 5 minutes walk to Sao Rafael main pool which is set in mature gardens. Parking is near the apartment and the communal pool have many sunbeds Utility Room: washing machine,Iron /ironing board. Clothes airer, broom and mop with mop bucket Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided. Please bring your own pool and beach towels. At an additional cost cot or high chair rental can be arranged. Cleaning and washing services can be arranged for an additional cost.
