A traditional stone cottage and barn conversion set within the heart of Cardiganshire countryside. Perfect for the relaxing holiday break if you're looking for peace, quiet and nature on your doorstep.

Cottage comprises three bedrooms (one ensuite in a self-contained annexe). Two wood stoves and log baskets provided on arrival. Flat screen TV, hi-fi, iPod dock, internet access, dishwasher, washer drier.

Great for walks whether going down the valley to the river or up to the hills. Forestry is close by. Campfire area in large garden, and swings and slides for children. Attractive coastal towns of Aberaeron and New Quay just over half an hour's drive.

Local sites of interest are the gold mines (seasonal opening) at Dolaucothi dating back to Roman times, and Llyn Brianne reservoir near Tregaron. We’ve been going to this region of Wales for over 40 years and love it. It's the perfect antidote to city life. Visit Wales 4 star rating.

About David Maitland

My brother and I have owned this property since 1992 when it was handed down to us by our parents. We've been lucky enough to visit this region of Wales since we were children and know the area very well. This cottage is more than a holiday home, it's literally a home from home. It is an area of outstanding beauty throughout the year, and has a strong sense of community.

David Maitland purchased this cottage in 1960

Why David Maitland chose Carmarthenshire

One great plus about this location is its seclusion, combined with space. The pace of life is perfect for recharging the batteries, and any amateur zoologist will find they're living in an area teeming with wildlife. We even have a resident owl who you may be lucky enough to see when it's nesting above the annexe.
