About The Owner

We live in Oxford, England with our two teenage sons. We moved back here after living for 5 years in Tenerife, where we renovated our property. We were only planning to go for 2 years!, but we loved the island so much, the fantastic climate, outdoor lifestyle, Spanish way of life and it was great for the kids who can now sail and surf.

The Barn is in the grounds of our own property. It is grade 2 listed and in the conservation area of the village. The house and barn were previously owned by Queens College and date back to the fifteenth Century.

It is a great place to live on a hill overlooking Oxford.

The Owner purchased this barn in 1998

Why The Owner chose Oxford

We bought the farm house and barns as a renovation project. It was a challenge, liveable but in need of a lot of updating and the barns were original farm buildings with corrugated roofs! The area was perfect for us countryside but only 10/15 minutes from Oxford.

The property is really lovely, very clean and homely - plenty big enough for a couple.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here, the accommodation was perfect, clean, comfortable and plenty of facilities for 2 people. Julie was very friendly and greeted us on arrival and showed us the facilities.

The surrounding village is very pretty and there are many walks around and about it. The view from the church is gorgeous.

Very easy journey to Oxford, we recommend the park and ride as there is not much parking in Oxford and it is a very busy city.

Blenheim Palace is fantastic lovely grounds and lots of history.

All in all a fantastic weekend away.

We spent a very pleasant week in the converted barn in the countryside. Interesting conversion, nice amenities, and a beautiful location. Email communication was good. Arrival directions were spot on.

Beautiful location and excellent VRBO

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in May 2017 for 3 weeks and had a very wonderful time. Julie and her husband were attentive without intruding. The location requires a car but is glorious in the spring. Very quiet and relaxing with beautiful grounds. Pub next door will keep you happy. The apartment layout is best for a single person or a couple. Bathroom is small. Kitchenette is adequate for light cooking. Apartment is light, airy, clean, and very comfortable. Washer. No dryer but clothes-line outside. Wireless is excellent. I would DEFINITELY return for another stay.

Charming spot, convenient to Oxford city.

  • 5 of 5

Characterful, clean and charming in a peaceful location. Tasteful, comfortable decor and a very friendly owner. Nice to have access to the lovely garden too.

Wouldn't recommend it for older people because of the steep stairs down to the washroom in the middle of the night (!), but if that is not an issue for you, then we highly recommend this property.
