About Clare Graham

I have extensive and international training in the hotel and catering industry and am particular about what I would like to have when I stay away. We try very hard to achieve this for our guests and have made our properties comfortable, clean and homely, to meet your every need when on holiday.

Clare Graham purchased this cottage in 1993

Why Clare Graham chose Brecon

Brecon is a friendly rural area but within the hour we can be in the city, it is incredibly peaceful and we have thoroughly enjoyed living here for many years.

We are 7 minutes from Pen-y-Fan the highest peak in South Wales and minutes from the waterfall walks .

After a days activity it is perfect to flop into the pool and enjoy our night sky .

We have night sky accreditation and are very proud of this .

What makes this cottage unique

The semi detached cottage is a great place to base yourself and allows our guests to explore the area ,then come home to a swim in the heated pool or warm fire from the wood burner .

The house is large enough to accommodate an entire family but small enough to retain its country charm with a log fire and very comfy seating area in the living room.

The heated pool is fantastic for children, families and couples alike. The views and spectacular and we cannot recommend the fresh air and our dark skies enough!

A great place for a little time out!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent place to stay, star watching from the hub tub helped us relax for a little girly getaway. Only 15minutes from Brecon.

Not light pollution meant that the stars on a clear night didn’t disappoint.

Thank you to Claire for her warm welcome and great hospitality.

We will see you again.

Good location for exploring the Brecon Beacons

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is in a good location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.Really enjoyed relaxing in front of the woodburner. Disappointed to find the second bathroom in the property was very small and didn't have a wash hand basin, also the main bathroom was a bit chilly as the window was drafty. and the basin plug didn't work.

Clare made an lovely cake to welcome us and has made the cottage very homely.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback which we have taken on board, we would like to address the following issues. The second bathroom was designed for those of limited movement and mobility. We felt this was a useful addition to adult groups such as yourself and to offer alternative refreshment facilities. There is a tap to wash hands inside the bathroom, perhaps this was just not to your personal taste. The basin plug upstairs has been replaced but sadly we couldn't control the large winds that we had during your stay. It was exceptional conditions which made for the draft upstairs, these have however been re sealed to ensure this is not reported again. Very glad you enjoyed your cake and the complimentary early check in 9.30 am and late check out 3pm . We try hard to ensure our guests have the most comfortable and enjoyable stay and hope to welcome you again in the future. With best wishes, Clare

Owner's Response: Such a pleasure to welcome your family . Yes the swim spa is great, it is way bigger than a regular hot tub , a great social space . With teenagers , as you had, it is useful to have something for them to keep them busy . I am glad the family enjoyed the space and the best weather all year. Clare

Fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

We knew when we were greeted with a lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake that it would be a great stay - and we weren't disappointed! The cottage is situated in a great location being a stones throw from the a470 and close to a town for all the must have holiday amenities (like wine!). Our 5 year old found the hot tub the best thing of the whole holiday so much so that he wants one at home! We also managed to make use of the gym on a few occasions which was an added bonus.Overall we found the cottage really well presented and comfortable and Clare was on hand for any queries and was really super helpful 10/10!!

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property as it was close to Bike Park Wales and the Brecons for us to go Mountain Biking, however when we arrived the property had so much going for it we only went biking for a short a period, we spent most of the time enjoying the BBQ, hot tub, steam room and gym, this is fantastic play to stay and the owners are great and not at all intrusive but there if you need anything. The home baked lemon drizzle cake was spot on with our tea when we arrived.

Lovely surroundings for walking, cycling and getting out and about.

Thanks Clare we had a great time and the hot tub is fantastic as is everything else.

Very best regards

Glyn, Lynn, Mark and Jackie.

Fabulous cottage with everything you could possibly need or want. The gym was very well equipped. The sauna and the pool were a great way to relax aching muscles after a full day hill walking. Kitchen very well stocked with everything you'd need to cook your evening meal before relaxing in front of the beautiful log burner. Hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. A great place to stay and we look forward to going back. Many thanks for a fabulous holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your five star review and I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at No 2 Forestry Cottage. We filled the pool early for your arrival and the weather was just the best , and the steam room and gym is proving very popular, many say it is better equipped than their gym back home . I really look forward to welcoming your family again soon to Wales . Clare and Andy

Car: necessary

Situated in the foot of the Brecon Beacons National Park the semi detached cottage sits nestled in surrounding forest and large green fields, making the most of nature at its finest and most beautiful.

Upon your arrival you will be treated to a freshly baked lemon drizzle cake and find that there is tea, coffee and milk ready for you to enjoy whilst you begin to unwind.

Due to the blissful surroundings it is easy to relax in the outside seating area before taking a dip in the heated pool in the garden. There is a safe lock up for bikes should they be brought on holiday and a trail that leads from the house to the bottom of Pen Y Fan through national park scenery and along a historical Roman built road.

Brecon is a bustling market town set along side the river Usk and Honddu with its splendid Georgian shop fronts and historic cathedral there is something for everyone.

For children open farms, a mountain railway or Dan yr Ogof show caves, there is so much more to enjoy and the day can be finished with an ice- cream in the Llanvaes Dairy - the best in the area!

West Wales with its sandy beaches is 1 1/2 hours drive away. Swansea and the famous Mumbles are an easy 40 minutes driving away.

The cottage is 5 miles from Brecon, there is limited public transport and the use of own car is essential. In the summer months, the National Park run a public bus from Brecon to the Mountain Centre with a bike transporter on the back.

Cardiff airport is approximately 50 minutes drive away and Bristol airport is approximately 1 3/4 hours driving away.

Brecon market town is a 5 miles drive to the centre. Hay on Wye is 35 minutes and Abergavenny 40 minutes away.

The nearest city is Cardiff ,40 minutes away or Swansea is 45 minutes away.

We are 7 minutes drive from Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, wonderful walking and the new Bike Parc Wales, which has just been built is minutes away for mountain biking.

Things to do.

Food festivals, craft markets, Farmers markets, the International Jazz festival held in the theatre at the canal basin, and surrounding venues, a cinema, leisure centre, and an army museum commemorating the Battle of Rorkes Drift at the South Wales Borderers Museum at Brecon Barracks.

Outdoor activities in the area include horse riding, a rope centre and climbing wall, canoeing on the river Usk and Wye, mountain biking at the dedicated bikeparkwales.
