This beautiful penthouse has stunning views of the sea and mountains from within, and you can step out onto the terrace from every room. One of two penthouses on top of the highest building in St Cyprien (8th floor), you are not overlooked by anyone, apart from the birds! The apartment offers a beautiful open-plan kitchen with all new appliances, a magnificent salon with unbeatable views, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms (one en suite). There is free wifi and a 42" flat-screen HD TV and DVD player. On the terrace you can enjoy splashing in the mozaic-tiled plunge pool or sizzling your meat on the barbeque, or just relaxing on stylish outdoor furniture. Perfect for families, there are no roads to cross to get to the beach. The apartment also overlooks the international St Cyprien golf course. You can stroll along the promenade to St Cyprien Port within minutes.

Hi, I'm Penny and I live in the village of Maureillas, in the Languedoc Rousillon region of France, with my husband Dominic and 2 children. We moved permanently from the UK 12 years ago to follow our dream of living and working in this beautiful corner of France.

Notes on accommodation: There is a private parking space allocated to guests of the penthouse. There is a lift in the apartment building to the 7th floor, with one further flight of stairs to the penthouse (8th floor). For safety reasons we don't recommend this property for toddlers - the terrace wall is over 1m high and satisfies strict French safety regulations. However we prefer to be cautious. Babies are welcome and there is a cot and high chair. Pets welcome, please check. This is a strictly no-smoking property. Outside: The terrace is over 100m2 in area, and wraps around 3 sides of the apartment. The views are stunning on all sides. There is a large mozaic-tiled plungepool for keeping cool on summer days, and you can sizzle your meat on the barbeque next to the pool. The penthouse has stylish outside furniture, including a table and 6 chairs, a sofa and 2 armchairs, and sunloungers. There are also outside lights for chilled-out summer evenings. Utility Room: Washing machine and iron and ironing board. Hoover and cleaning materials. Beach equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are included, including beach towels. The apartment is cleaned at the end of each rental, included in the rental price. A surcharge is added for pets (please enquire). Other: An outside shed for deck chairs.

Incredible apartment, and fabulous location

We absolutely loved our holiday in St Cyprien, and the apartment was without doubt, the most stunning, and best appointed that we have stayed in. The kitchen was brilliant, with loads of space and equipment (along with a generous supply of essentials in the store cupboard), and everything was immaculately clean and well looked after. Penny could not have been more helpful, and was very prompt in all her responses - again, the best host that we have come across (please can you buy some more properties around the European seaside?!)

St Cypien itself made for a great family holiday. We loved the beach club opposite the apartment, and had a couple of excellent meals at Caliente, further down the promenade. Lovely days out in Perpignan, over to Spain (the coastal road home was a highlight of our holiday),and Aqualand (gave in to our teenage children, and had a surprisingly good day!), and locally we enjoyed the market and Tropical Golf. Our 3 girls loved having a bit of independence, so the proximity of the apartment to both beach and port was a real bonus. We had intended to hire bikes, but ran out of time. Equally would love to have had a go at all the kitesurfing and windsurfing that was going on..... if you have enjoy these, then look no further for a holiday destination!

Last, but not least, no review of this apartment would be complete without a mention of the radio in the family bathroom..... there is now a campaign to get one at home....

Relaxing week in fab penthouse

Fab penthouse with amazing views yet very homely. Penny couldn't do enough for us ..even sorting train/ bus timetables for daughters arrival from Barcelona! Close to two excellent beach bars and walking distance of shops and restaurants. Had a lovely week !

The beach at St Cyprien consists of 6km of white sands. It has been awarded the 'blue flag', the European award for clean bathing. The penthouse has direct access to the beach, with no roads to cross. There is a lifeguard station on the beach very close to the apartment building. This particular stretch of the beach is relatively uncrowded, and is perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing (these can be hired locally). The beach club near the apartment is great for drinks or meals (summer only).


There are regular low-cost flights from the UK to Perpignan, Girona, Barcelona, Carcasonne, Beziers and Montpellier (mainly Ryanair and Easyjet).

You can also travel comfortably by train from the UK via the Eurostar to Perpignan. The TVG from Perpignan to Barcelona is now in operation (50 minutes direct to the centre of Barcelona).

We can arrange airport/train station pick-ups if required. The regional buses are excellent and only cost 1 Euro per journey.

There are local supermarkets, restaurants, bars and beach clubs very close by. The Mediterranean's 2nd largest leisure port, St Cyprien Port, is 1 km away with a great selection of restaurants, bars and a wide variety of local entertainment offered every night during the summer season. The St Cyprien area also has amusement parks, go-carting, mini golf, horse-riding and much more.

The watersports that can be enjoyed at St Cyprien Plage include sailing, scuba diving, jet skiing, windsurfing, kite surfing, sea fishing trips, kayaking and boat trips around the Cote Vermeille.

There is a mini-golf course directly opposite the apartment.

Aqualand is a fabulous family-orientated water park and is situated close by.

The nearby Grande Stade les Capellans is a large sports complex with over 20 outdoor tennis courts including 6 indoor courts.

Within 5 minutes drive is the town of Canet which has an indoor Olympic sized swimming pool and is a base for members of the French Olympic team.

Within 5 minutes drive is the regional equestrian centre.

For cycling enthusiasts, the roads near the apartment provide nice wide flat expanses which were taken by the Tour de France as it swept past in 2009. There is excellent mountain biking in the nearby Alberes which ascend to over 1200m. If you prefer a gentler ride, and ideal for children, the coastal cycle path runs directly in front of the apartment building.

The apartment overlooks a large ornithological nature reserve with lagoon (Etang de Canet).

There is a beautiful botanic garden in St Cyprien. And the Museum of Modern Art has a permanent collection as well as regularly-updated exhibitions.

The popular towns of Collioure, Ceret and Perpignan are all within 30 minutes' drive.

Spain is on your doorstep, with the beaches of the Costa Brava and towns such as Girona and Figueres. The TGV runs from Perpignan to Barcelona.
