With the adjacent side terrace and gazebo a favourite for breakfast in the morning. Why peter moss chose Es Mercadal

Casablanca was designed and built in 1987 by our grandfather after he and our grandmother fell in love with this wonderful island. His intention was to build a place that would be enjoyed off season as well as on. large enough that the whole family could stay in comfort and privacy, but also close enough to the many attractions the island has to offer, no matter what your choice of activity. It is now looked after and let by his Son and Grandchildren.

Our family of three stayed at the villa for two weeks in August 2016.

The villa is exactly how it appear on the website. Perfect, quiet location about a 10 minute walk to the bars, restaurants and supermarkets.

The pool area is fantastic - lots of shade if you want it but there is always sunshine somewhere if you prefer.

We did have an issue with the dishwasher but both the owner and the local guy who is on hand responded quickly.

There are lots of useful extras in the villa such as docking station, coffee machine, cool box, games etc and the kitchen is extremely well equipped.

Unless you do want to just sit by the pool, you really need to hire a car which you can do locally.

We would definitely book again.

Cosy home

Lovely area, very quite and a very warm welcome. The house was clean and beautiful.

Our kids loved the pool and we enjoyed the location a lot. Close to the beach.

We felt being at home.

Great holiday villa

We had superb holiday in Menorca in 2014 and it was made easy and comfortable by staying in this villa. Everything we needed was provided. We all had great fun in the pool and enjoyed the peace and quiet in the private surroundings of the villa. Son Parc is a great family resort but also really handy for getting out and about. Great family holiday destination.

Great Family Holiday

Made a last minute decision to visit Menorca and were not disappointed. Casablanca is exactly as it looks on the images and is a fabulous villa in a lovely location, there was honestly nothing we would change. The location is superb for exploring this wonderful island, the closest beach was one of the best we came across, take a walk over the cliff tops to a secluded bay and it gets even better, if you are into snorkelling this was the place to do it! We hired a car and reached the villa within a 30 minute drive from the airport. There are plenty of amenities within walking distance including a fantastic golf course, restaurants, bars and a well stocked reasonably priced supermarket. The Villa itself was very well equipped, there is plenty of room with a lovely private balcony on the first floor, it has an amazing pool with a substantial patio/eating area and is extremely well managed by a local agent. We were a family with teenagers aged 13 to 18 and they absolutely loved everything about it. Never once did we hear those dreaded words ' we are bored!' You can hire bikes locally and the cycle paths are everywhere. Some of our group went horse riding along the coast and thought it was fantastic. We went fishing in Fornells - a lovely village about 6kms away, great restaurants there too. The area and Villa has a real family feel to it and we felt honoured to be staying there. Our only regret was that we holidayed for one week and not two! We will return to Menorca and without doubt would choose to stay at Casablanca again.

Casablanca,Son Parc,Menorca

We rented the villa from 19th to 26th July 2013 and had temperatures of mid 30s all week meaning the pool temperature was around 30 deg at all times.If you read the owners notes on the villa it has a nice family history and has obviously been cherished over the years.Although it is some years old it maintains the authentic Spanish look and feel about and was certainly as described by the owner. We were a party of 7( 5 adults and 2 boys 6 +7) and there was ample room for everyone, the big bonus being the fabulous pool which I am sure the boys would have slept in if they could. It was about 10 x 5 but had really good depth which allowed for proper swimming and diving for those who wanted- in fact the pool was the only issue we found in the whole week because the night lighting didn't work and the local man couldn't fix it so the boys were a bit disappointed with that. If you are an ardent sun follower the poolside and upper sun deck are ideal but we felt perhaps a couple of awnings would have been nice for those of us seeking some cover. We also felt that an outside pool toilet/washroom would be a big asset as well.

The villa situation was excellent with a good local supermarket and other shops/restaurants within 5 minutes drive away as was the fabulous local beach-you can see why it is regarded as the best on the island. We did one big shop in Mahon when we got there and everything else was local sourced including the island golf course if you wanted it.

We have had the chance to talk together since we got back and we all agreed that we had a great holiday at a realistic cost on this beautiful island and the key question is would we go back to the villa again?-a big emphatic YES!!!

Owner's Response: The underwater pool lights now working on automatic timer. We will certainly consider some sort of awning or shading for upper sundeck in time for 2014 season, although for poolside the shade under the arches is where we relax! No plans at the moment for an outside toilet/washroom, but combination of the downstairs toilet/bathroom and poolside shower works fine for us. Many thanks for constructive feedback, we value it! Son Parc's Son Saura beach, which has recently been awarded the prestigious blue flag for safety and cleanliness is 5 minutes drive. It's far reaching shallow waters make it ideal for young children. Amenities include a bar, restaurant, toilets, pedaloe and canoe hire.


We are a 30 minute drive from the islands main airport at Mahon.


2 minutes drive or approximately 15 minutes on foot you will find the local supermarkets, bars and restaurants. The neighbouring resort of Arenal D'en Castell is approximately a 10 minute drive and the famous fishing village of Fornells is roughly 15 minutes by car.

An approximate 15 minute drive will get you to Monte Toro, the highest point of the island, with it's 17th century sanctuary, and wonderful views.

Further Details:

The island has lots to offer visitors, including Scuba diving, wind surfing, Golf, kayaking, yacht hire/charter, go-karting and horse riding. A welcome pack detailing these and other activities, as well as a list of the more secluded beaches and restaurants, will be provided upon arrival.

Menorca is also a "Biosphere Reserve," and is full of wildlife, with beautiful pathways to walk, notably the "Cami de Cavalls," which encircles the island, and can be joined at Son Parc beach.

  • Notes on accommodation: There is a safe provided in the upstairs bedroom for valuables, in addition you will find sun-loungers, beach chairs, parasol etc for your use. We would recommend car hire to get the best out of your stay, there is so much to see! There is a bus service in the resort, which connects to the local towns, and a taxi-stand in the resort. Son Parc also has it's own pharmacy and medical centre. Outside: Private pool, 4.5m x 9m. Depth 1m at shallow end with steps, to 1.9m The pool is maintained by our local agent, and is cleaned twice weekly. The garden is now nicely mature and provides excellent privacy. It is looked after by the gardener, who is very local. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa is cleaned prior to arrival and there is a weekly full linen change. Linen and towels are included. Other: Main terrace includes covered barbecue area with table and seating. A gazebo with additional table and seating is also provided on the side terrace. Large sun terrace on upper floor. Mature garden provides privacy from the road and neighbouring villas.
