A luxuriously appointed, fully renovated fisherman's cottage a stone's throw from the lovely beach in Cullen Bay. Comfortably sleeps seven and is ideal for couples and families of all ages. The cottage is perfectly suitable for visitors who may not be so mobile. Aired and heated all year round, our cottage is exactly as we would wish any property to be that we ourselves would rent. We use the cottage ourselves when we come up to surf and you can expect every feature and luxury that we have in our main house in Edinburgh. A romantic getaway or a quiet holiday with little toddlers or an action packed adventure for older kids, our cottage is the perfect base to explore all that Cullen and the Moray Firth have to offer.

About Douglas Thomson

Our own family cottage that we rent out now that our surfing teenager has other interests. Been coming to this area for more years than we care to remember, so know all the locals and the way life is in this part of the world.

Why Douglas Thomson chose Moray

Ten years ago. Needed a base for surfing on the Maray coast - nowhere better. Fantastic relaxing part of the country, but only a short drive to Aberdeen or Inverness for the big city feel. The weather always seems to be kind and the beaches are amongst the best in Europe - handy when the cottage is only 100m to our beach.

What makes this cottage unique

Luxury and especially important, effective central heating and wood burning stoves! Aired and heated throughout the year, so none of that damp feel of so many cottages. Kitted out to the highest standard, you can even do your own cordon bleu cooking in our fabulous kitchen and then sit down round the huge dining table and talk about the next day's plans. Or relax in the huge bath upstairs or have a game of Scrabble in front of the wood burning stoves. On that odd occasion of poor weather, just stay in and be nice and warm. Unlimited superfast fibe optic broadband included.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: A spacious property for a perfect relaxing holiday. Ideal for the family to be together, but with sufficient space to not being on top of one another. You'll not want to leave at the end of your stay in one of the most luxuriously appointed holiday cottages on the Moray Coast. Outside: Small sun trap courtyard at the rear with charcoal bbq, table and chairs and a pull-out clothes drier for washing and drying wetsuits. Even if it's cool, you'll still want to wrap up and sit outside with a glass of wine in the evening - we do it all year round! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxurious white bath towels, beach towels and all bed linen is provided. The cottage is cleaned for your arrival and on your departure.

Love, love, love Cullen and this cottage

We have now stayed at this cottage twice and it doesn't disappoint. Lovely cottage, beautifully renovated and an ideal cottage for our family to stay in. We love coming back to Cullen and have very much enjoyed coming back to this cottage. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Coast/Beach:

A 30 second walk to the wonderful sandy beaches of Cullen on the Moray Firth with wonderful clear water for swimming (with or without a wetsuit!). wonderful secluded beaches all the way along the coast between Aberdeen and Inverness. Shallow sandy areas around Cullen harbour where little kids can muck around without coming to any harm.

Travel:

One hour drive to both Aberdeen and Inverness airports. Both are serviced by a full range of budget and scheduled airlines. A wide range of car hire agencies operate from both airports. Regular train services from Aberdeen and Inverness call at Keith, 15 minutes from the property. Regular bus services pass within 100m of the property, travelling through north east Scotland.

Distances:

5 minutes walk to centre of Cullen village with all amenities. 50 miles to both Aberdeen and Inverness for shopping and theatre visits. For rainy days, Macduff has a wonderful aquarium only 10 miles along the coast whilst Elgin 20 miles in the opposite direction has a wonderful old fashioned cinema showing the latest movies.

Further Details:

Bank, post office, supermarket , bars and restaurants in Cullen itself. Further along the coast, Buckie has wider choice and further along Elgin has much more. Every activity imaginable is available in the local area - you'll be spoilt for choice.
