The property is set in 5,250 Sq Ft on 4 floors with magnificent sea and beach views. About Tony and Maureen Parton

We live in Staffordshire, UK and have 3 children. As they were growing up we looked for holidays where we had plenty to do but where we were also happy to spend time in our own house. We like contemporary style living and so the properties we own all reflect this. We have invested in large houses in Florida and Cornwall, which are available for short term (holiday) lets. They have been extensively refurbished and provide a clean, fresh, look and feel. We wanted to provide ample space and luxury for a family to live in while enjoying a holiday. We love spending time in our houses and hope that you will enjoy them too.

Tony & Maureen.

Why Tony and Maureen Parton chose Newquay & St Austell area

We looked for a large property, close to the beach with beatiful sea views. This one was perfect for us - we have a gate that gives access to a large sandy beach. We can wind away days just watching the Atlantic Ocean waves come in or families building sand castles on the beach, or go for a walk on cliff tops with magnificent views over the sea.

What makes this house unique

It's set in a magnificent position offering views of the Atlantic Ocean, cliff tops and has a gate leading straight on to large a sandy beach. It is a short walk in to Newquay or Watergate Bay and a short drive from Padstow, Truro and other destinations. It is a large house which offers plenty of space for a family and their friends.

Location

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Our property has beach frontage with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and Porth Island. We have direct access onto the clean, sandy beach, through a locked gate. Porth Beach is a safe family beach with a lifeguard on duty Easter - September, when dogs are allowed on the beach before 9am and after 6pm. Swimming and Body Boarding are allowed, Surfers have a short walk to Lusty Glaze or Whipsiderry Beaches. There are rock pools for the kids and a footbridge onto Porth Island where the sunset views are fabulous.

Travel:

The property is situated only 10 mins drive from Newquay Airport which has several airlines flying into it. There is a train station in Newquay (3 miles away) and as the property is on the main coastal route, there are regular buses. There are plenty of taxi companies in the area if you wish to use them. Car travellers will only have to travel for 15 mins to the house, once they have left the A30 dual carriageway.

Distances:

Our house is situated on the main coastal route on the north coast of Cornwall, between Newquay and Padstow. We are 2 miles from the fantastic surfing beaches of Newquay and Watergate Bay. Porth has its own village (less than a mile away) with a variety of shops, Padstow with its quaint harbour, shops and renowned restaurants is 13 miles away, and the lovely towns of St.Ives, Falmouth and Fowey only 40 minutes drive. Truro, with its beautiful cathedral is just 13 miles away.

Further Details:

Eating out in Cornwall is just about as good as it gets for seafood. There are of course the renowned seafood restaurants of Rick Stein & Nathan Outlaw in nearby Padstow and Rock plus Paul Ainsworth's No. 6 in Padstow with its recently acquired Michelin star. Even closer is Jamie Oliver's Fifteen which has superb views over Watergate Bay. But we have found some fabulous lesser known seafood restaurants in Falmouth, Fowey, St.Ives and Port Isaac which are also worth a visit. If you prefer a good old Cornish pub, there's plenty of those we can recommend too. And lets not forget how scrumptious a Cornish Cream Tea can be too.

During the summer months there is a convenience store, beach shop and cafe just across the beach. Village shops, banks and a Tesco Express are less than a mile away. There's a massive Morrissons in Newquay, plus the other major supermarkets and M & S Food is in Truro, 25 minutes away.

There is a pitch and putt course just across the beach although Newquay has a much better groomed one, along with crazy golf, the Zoo, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, childrens play area, boating lake, and a Water World. Holywell Bay is about 5 miles away and has a theme park and an 18 hole long pitch and putt course which has really beautiful views.

My favourite tourist spots to visit are Padstow for its quaint shops and an ice cream sitting on the harbour, St Ives which has a Tate Art Gallery, Fowey which has lovely quirky shops and afternoon tea on the deck overlooking the river at The Quayside, Port Isaac (it's just so Cornish and you get wonderful crab sandwiches there) and Falmouth.

There are some challenging walks nearby with scenery to die for. A walk from the house upto The Headland Hotel in Newquay (where they filmed The Witches) is only 3 miles tho!

There are some great spas nearby too, The Scarlet Hotel with its seaweed hot tubs on the cliff, The Watergate Bay and Sands Hotels. We also know a wonderful therapist who comes to the house. Enjoy!

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: There are plenty of holiday homes to rent in Cornwall but we think you would find it hard to find one to beat the view from our Beach House. As we directly overlook the beach, a river estuary runs down one side, hundreds of rock pools and cliffs loom large each side, you can be sure that every day you look out, you will be met with a fabulous view, be it an amazing sunset, crazy big waves rolling in or merely people just having a lovely time whiling away hours on the sandy beach. The beach is never overcrowded like Watergate or Fistral but just as lovely and its not too far to nip back for that windbreaker you forgot to bring! We have enjoyed great bbqs on the beach watching the sunset and topping up that glass of 'chilled wine' is a breeze when you're so close to home! This has been our own family holiday home for the last 3 years so it's furnished & equipped as a family home not a rental one. Interior design is partly coastal themed, comfortable and very spacious. Outside: The large landscaped back garden of the property is accessed via the Ground Floor games room, which has a table tennis table, floodlit table football, 42" flat screen tv and wii console plus games. This room connects to the Sauna and Gym which has Nordic Track treadmill with I Fit compatability, exercise bike, yoga mat, Pilates ring and ball, light weights and a walk in shower. Please note the Sauna/Gym room is Adults Only. The garden is on 2 levels with a choice of dining areas, and beautiful westerly views, (great for sunsets). The upper garden is lawned, with a patio, mini beach, plenty of all weather furniture, a Swiss Grill outdoor kitchen (gas included) & an outside shower point. The lower garden is accessed by a few steps or a slope and allows direct access to Porth Beach via the coded garden gate. A WWII bunker has a variety of beach games/furniture. There are 2 balconies (level 2 balcony is full width of house accessed from L2 sitting room and Master bedroom via patio doors. Utility Room: The lower floor has a utility room/mini kitchen with 2 washing machines, 2 tumble dryers, wash basket, pegs, clothes airer, Iron, ironing board, fridge freezer, sink, microwave and kettle for ease of al fresco entertaining. Outdoor spinning washing line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bath towels and bed linen are included and these are changed weekly. Linen and towels have been chosen to match each individual room, there is a choice of duvets, down or synthetic. Molton Brown toiletries are also included. Other: 32ft conservatory off living room, comfy seating, dining table seats 14. Access to patio with outdoor furniture and glass balcony with stunning views. Sitting room with bookcases, views to sea. A 3rd sitting room on Level 2, with access to balcony.

Beautiful Cornish Idyll

  • 5 of 5

This was the best property we have ever stayed in. The house was in a prime location right on the beach and the facilities were excellent.

It was extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean.

All the rooms were large, light and airy. There was an excellent games room and fitness equipment.

We were close to amenities and took some long walks around the stunning coastline.

Luckily the weather was great on several days so we took advantage of the lovely garden area and the beach.

We would definitely recommend this property to others and no doubt we will return in the future.

Simply stunning, inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a fabulous stay in this beautiful homely property. The owners had considered everything possible to make the most of our stay and we couldn't have asked for more. The views over the beach at the end of the garden are simply breathtaking and will be a tough act to beat. The property was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, decorated and maintained to a very high standard. We visited some fabulous local restaurants and enjoyed being within easy access to Padstow, Falmouth and Watergate Bay, to name just a few. Spent a wonderful day at the nearby Headlands Spa and just generally had a truly relaxing and revitalising holiday. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this to anyone seeking an escape to Cornwall with a large family or a group of friends. I miss it already!

Fantastic house. Fantastic location.

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 families (16 total) on our first visit to Porth Beach. Having stayed in many holiday homes, this was honestly the best. Having the house overlooking the beach makes it a prime location. The adults could have long lunches on the garden terrace whilst watching the kids play safely on the sand. It's a child friendly sandy beach, that expands to a huge beach at low tide with fantastic body-boarding waves.

The house is huge, spotlessly clean, superbly equipped, with stunning views. (The sunsets with a g&t on the terrace or balcony were amazing ). Comfy beds, endless hot water, spacious seating and living areas, great games-room for the kids, outside showers for sandy feet, fully equipped kitchen (2 dishwashers!), utility (2 washers and 2 driers!), a welcome vase of flowers and treats, huge TVs, great wifi, near to Watergate bay for surfing and restaurants ........ I could keep going. Perfect. The owners were kind, helpful and welcoming. Thank you.

11 out of 11

  • 5 of 5

We were 11 quirky adults ranging from 21-91 years of age and this house and location was practically perfect for all of us. We utilized every inch of space inside and out and enjoyed the most marvelous sunsets (when the sun appeared). The house was very well equipped and the easily accommodated the 3 or 4 alpha personalities who vied for the chief cook and cocktail maker roles. Highly recommend!

A substantial property in a wonderful location, perfect for large groups

  • 4 of 5

This is the first time we have spent our annual Cornish family holiday at this property. The location on the beach is perfect for children and the property fulfills all the requirements for a large group with the correct mix of bedrooms, bathrooms and equipment, plus recreation areas inside and outside. However we have stayed in other properties with comparable facilities, other than the location, for substantially less, but we do understand that the location comes at a premium.

Owner's Response: Our first ever review that is less than 5 stars. We accept that the rental rates in the peak season are more expensive than inland properties. However, due to its location so are house prices and maintenance costs. We have invested a substantial amount in the property to provide high end quality and we continually reinvest some of the rental income to improve the property every year. For example, this year we installed a new rangemaster multi fuel oven in the kitchen, a 65 inch flat screen smart tv in the lounge plus other large flat screen tvs in the sitting room and downstairs bedrooms. Sorry we are expensive but we believe that we provide value for money and quality. Maureen & Tony
