Farmhouse in Santa Cruz del Comercio, Nr. Alhama de Granada, Poniente Granandino, Spain - Casa Las Aguilas - Quiet Country Location With Short Walk To Small Typical Spanish Village

A very large restored Spanish Farmhouse with all amenities within a short walking distance to the village of Santa Cruz del Comercio. Set on a small track just off a main road for convenient access. An established private walled rear garden with barbecue, seating areas and grape vine covered pergola where you can spend peaceful evenings enjoying tapas and sipping ice cold beers or a glass of your favourite Rioja. A private pool garden at the front of the property with large pool, seating, tables and toilet/changing room. Pool area open from April to the end of September. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, large rustic dining room, a TV room with English satellite TV, A quiet lounge for relaxing and reading and a Games Room for both adults and children to enjoy. Both the TV room and the Dining Room have log burning fires for the cooler months. The local baker delivers daily (except Sunday) and has a delicious array of breads and sweet pastries. Welcome pack on arrival.

Relaxing family break, good location

Large farmhouse that was perfect for our extended family holiday, spent 2 weeks here enjoying the location. The pool is great and we spent many an hour swimming, was great for our 3 kids.

The location is remote, but not far from the local village and only 40mins from Granada, and just over an hour from Malaga airport.

Jeff was very friendly and prepared a fab welcome buffet, it is worth it so do consider it!

If you are after mod cons then this is not for you, this is a traditional farmhouse, with rustic charm, but has everything you need for a great holiday.

Do visit:

Alhambra palace

the local village bread van in square around 9.30am, goats wondering through from field to field in the morning, kids loved that.

Embalse de Los Bermejales a Great Lake for swimming, bit of a beach, always plenty of space, and a nice bar in the village that does good food.

Alhama de Granada for a wander, tapas, and kids park!!

Paco loco restaurant, great value for lunch, and huge pool, lunch only from 1.30pm

Nerja caves for a day trip, then back over the mountain pass through the the clouds - fab

Do drive and explore lots to see.

Great Stay at Casa Aguilas

We stayed at Casa Aguilas during Easter week. There were seven of us at the property (5 Adults and 2 Children) but with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and loads of living space, it never felt crowded. We flew to Malaga and the drive to the property took about an hour. The directions were excellent, but you have to keep your wits about you not to go past the turning off the main road!

On arrival we were greeted by Jeff and his family who had put together a very nice welcome lunch (at a small extra cost). All through the stay Jeff was on hand to deal with any queries we had. Straight after lunch, the kids were in the pool, although it was still a bit chilly that time of year, although I suspect it will be perfect in the summer months.

Out and about, the local village of St Cruz was quiet, but the nearby town of Alama was definitely worth a visit. It was one of the last bastions of Moorish Spain, including a spa whose treatments were very reasonable compared to UK prices.

The highlight of the stay was Granada, not just the Alhambra, but just wandering around the streets was great. As it was Easter week, we came across some of the traditional Andalucian processions which were fascinating!

Overall, a really pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend this to friends who were looking to visit the region.

We stayed for a week and it was absolutely brilliant! The villa is superb - everything you would need is available. The courtyard at the back was beautiful and we sat outside most evenings drinking wine - just perfect!

All the rooms were lovely - the kitchen is very well laid out and we were very surprised at how much it was like a home from home! So many other rooms - bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely - all really big rooms.

Our own swimming pool - bliss! yards away from the house - perfect!

There was nothing else we could have asked for! We will definitely be returning.

Perfect break for the whole family!

We had a lovely week here in October with another family, the weather was great, sunny and warm, and the break away from it all was just what we needed. The house is well equipped, very clean and well maintained. The descriptions on here are accurate, however we didn't expect there to be as much space as there is. We spent many an evening round the dining table while the children played in the other rooms with the many games and jigsaws provided.

It was also great to arrive to a bottle of wine and some food after the journey over, thanks Jeff, the customer service is brilliant! What a start to the holiday.

The back garden is absolutely beautiful and a great place to enjoy a meal in the evening. The pool was perfect, the kids had so much fun, even in the middle of October!

Alhama de Granada is a charming nearby town with a number of good restaurants, bars and supermarkets. There is also a spa, which we definitely want to try out on our return, and the hot springs! Santa Cruz is a short walk along the stream with shops, markets and a great little park which the children loved.

We took a short trip to Granada and visited the Alhambra Palace. This was absolutely stunning and definitely worth the short drive over.

I will definitely be recommending this property to family and friends and hope to return soon, maybe even for a bit of skiing. Thanks again for a great holiday!

Exactly what we wanted

We booked the villa for four days to relax around the pool whilst getting some sun after a busy weekend in Granada. The villa was perfect for this and we were all impressed with how nice the villa was. Theres lots of space both inside the villa and around the pool and the back garden/BBQ area is a great for evenings. I would say that the photos online don't do the place justice.

This is ideal for anyone wanting to have a quiet, relaxing getaway. Alhama de Granada is very nice but a 10 minute drive away (although en route there is a natural hot spa which is worth a visit).

Two of the group did mountain biking up in the mountains with the owner's mate which they said was unbelievably good - and there were other activities available. The cycling cost ?45 per person, so not cheap but the two said that it was worth it.

If you're after a very chilled, quiet break with some sun and a pool then this is perfect and all at a very reasonable price.

A Wonderful holiday

We spent a very relaxing 3 weeks in Casa Las Aguilas. It is a very spacious and comfortable farmhouse still undergoing some renovation. The listing was very accurate and detailed.

The property was clean and well maintained. One or two jobs are still waiting to be completed but this was reflected in the very reasonable price. The pool is clean and very well maintained. The garden at the rear of the property is very pretty and a wonderful space to relax in.

The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful, willing to provide as much information as required.

It is set in a wonderful location. The village of Santa Cruz is a short and pleasant walk away.

We LOVED the Alhambra! We would have liked to have spent more time visiting Old Town Granada. If you stay at this property we recommend visiting Granada early on as there is lots to see and explore there. Taxis are very cheap!

We love cooking at home and relaxing with a glass of wine so we didn't get to eat at many restaurants. We did however enjoy a beer and free tapas in Alhama most evenings!

The walk through the Gorge in Alhama is breathtaking. There is a relatively simple walk through plus some more challenging ones.

We loved swimming in Lake Bermejales and so did our dog.

Our visit to the Roman Baths was disappointing as you don't get to see very much.

Although Ronda is a 2 hour drive away it is well worth a visit. There are lots of little restaurants off the main square in the Old Town offering a menu of the day for 8 euros.

We will definitely visit this wonderful part of Spain again.

The surrounding countryside offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a vast variety of sports and pastimes. Fishing, sailing, walking, birdwatching, cycling are all within easy reach, cycle hire and guided walks can be arranged for your holiday.


The beaches of Torre del Mar are just an hours drive from the property with all the wonderful beaches of the Costa del Sol just a little further on. The waters of Lake Bermejales are just a short drive away and here you can enjoy water sports, swimming and fishing as well as walking the picturesque shoreline or just plain relaxing in the sunshine. There are picnic tables set amongst the pine trees available for you to use.


Granada Airport is a short 30 minute drive, the larger Malaga Airport is about 80 minutes drive.


The small village of Santa Cruz del Comercio is about 2km from the house and can be reached by car or along a picturesque river walk. The famous town of Alhama de Granada is 10km. The wonderful city of Granada with the world famous Alhambra Palaces and all its sights are just 45 minutes by car.

The local village of Santa Cruz has a bank, doctor´s surgery, 3 bars, a small supermarket, a food market and a weekly street market every Wednesday. Alhama de Granada is a 10 minute drive and offering a wider selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Alhama also has a larger market every Friday.

Pool garden at the front of the property with a large 9 x 5m private pool (maximum depth is around 1.2m) the garden has seating areas with sun loungers, tables and chairs and overlooks the surrounding olive groves and countryside and has olive and walnut trees to offer comforting shade from the heat of the summer sun.
