About the Owner

I live in the Bauges with my husband and 3 children. Together we have renovated our house and created the gite. As each season changes the mountains take on a different aspect and we are the first to see it. We hope you fall in love with it as we have.

Fantastic! Our best holiday...........

  • 5 of 5

The property and location was fantastic (both inside and out in the garden).

Our Son's spent hours playing in the garden, swimming in the pool, the zip wire and the trampoline. The property was lovely inside and finished to a high standard. Christelle & Allan could not be more helpful throughout our 2 week stay. We found ourselves having lazy days enjoying the sun and the pool, and then days travelling around enjoying the lakes and the mountains. We would definitely recommend this property for amazing family holidays.

Magnifique

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic week at "Au cret du bois" with our two children aged 8 and 11. The property is beautiful and rightly the pride and joy of Alain and Christelle. It is very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The particular highlight for us was the garden; the children in particular who spent any time not asleep on the trampoline, in the pool or on the zip wire. The views are stunning during the day and sound of owls at night a real treat.

The area is so beautiful, quiet and there is so much to do that we are threatening to come back. Particular highlights are Annecy, Le Semnoz, Le Revard, Le Gorge du Fier and the Jardins Secrets. We can't recommend this wonderful place to stay enough!

Beautiful location and fantastic accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We had a brilliant holiday staying in this property. The location is amazing. Views down the valley and the sound of cow bells and bird song! The gite is beautifully constructed, spotlessly clean and very comfortable to live in. All you would need is available. Kitchen is well equipped, good BBQ in the massive garden and lovely bathroom with great walk in shower. The owners, Christelle and Alain are very welcoming and helpful, even lending my husband a USB cable for his cycling computer!

Our son loved the swimming pool (as did we) and there is plenty in the garden to keep children entertained if you want a lazy day at home.

We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return one day.

Beautiful gite in quiet location.

  • 5 of 5

A great find. A quiet gite, beautifully renovated and equipped with everything imaginable for a perfect stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful with plenty of local area knowledge and great ideas of where to visit.

The gite has stunning views and is so homely and warm with toys for the children as well as the garden.

The kitchen is well equipped and all furniture throughout is modern and tasteful.

The children loved the mezzanine beds.

The wash room was a huge bonus with massive washing machine, tumble dryer and extra toilet.

The gite is immaculate.

Beautiful Alpine Gite

  • 5 of 5

This is the best equipped gite we have stayed in, and beautifully designed and built by the owners Christelle and Alain. Our children loved the garden and the mezzanine beds. There are plenty of activities and interesting sites nearby. All in all, a great place for our summer holiday.

A wonderful Gite in a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

The Gite is beautiful, fully equipped and in immaculate condition. We were a family of 4 and my children were 1 and 3. This Gite is over many levels with steps, ladders and concrete steps to the garden, we knew this before we arrived and it was worth the extra precaution we took with our little ones to enjoy this wonderful place.

The views were beautiful and you could hear the cow bells jingling in the distance.

The pool and garden were lovely and our little ones were in the pool every day.

It's a short drive into Lescheraine where you will find all the required amenities and a lovely lake that you can swim in that has a cafe, restaurant and life guards during the summer.

We had a wonderful holiday and Chrsitelle and Alain were helpful and super friendly. We would go back tomorrow!

Location

From the Owner

We moved to the Bauges to enjoy this unspoiled region, we love the outdoors and open spaces as well as being able to ski without a being in a crowded ski resort.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

There is a leisure lake in Lescheraines 5 mins drive where you can swim, picnic and enjoy a waterslide, a handy local spot with children. An acro-branch course of wires in the trees and trampolines are also set up. Annecy lake has a wealth of beaches and swimming areas as does the Lac de Bourget at Aix les Bains. The outdoor pool at Aillons is a 15 minute drive and situated in the midst of the mountains, you can swim to the sound of cowbells!

Travel:

Geneva airport is just one under an hour away with a very easy drive. Lyons and Grenoble are approx 1.5 hours away and Chambery is just 40 minutes. You really need a car to explore this region. The drive from Calais is approximately 8-9 hours for anyone wishing to drive. Directions can be supplied.

Distances:

By driving approx 35 minutes you can reach the towns of Annecy, Chambery or Aix les Bains. There are castles to explore, chair lifts are open in the summer giving access to views and easy walking, grass sledging, riding and wine/cheese tasting are just a few of the things you can enjoy locally. There are supermarkets both in Lescheraines (5 mins) and also in Le Chatelard (15 mins). We have a local weekly market and Annecy market is a great source of local produce.

Further Details:

Lescheraines has a small supermarket, excellent butchers, a weekly market of local produce and several restaurants/ bars and a great boulangerie. A newly opened slightly larger Carrefour supermarket at Chatelard is only 15 minutes away. There are also cash point machines, post offices and tourist information in both Lescheraines and Chatelard. Highly recommended are the Cooperative Laiterie (just down the road from the house) supplying fresh milk and award winning cheeses, the Mont Pelat restaurant at Aillons for great local foods or a trip up to admire stunning views at Le Revard - also with a good restaurant at the top. There's a good restaurant only 5 minutes walk up the road in Le Noyer.
