About the property

Coach House,Gouezec, Nr. Chateaulin, Finistere, Brittany, France - Peaceful Location/Views

La Vieille Ecurie (The Old Stables) is a charming and very individual Breton stone and slate coach house built in 1821. It can accommodate 6 people very comfortably. It has been sympathetically restored, whilst retaining many original character features. It is nestled in the hamlet of Lanveguen, within walking distance of Gouezec. The towns of Pleyben and Chateaulin are close by where there are supermarkets, regular outdoor markets, shops, bars and restaurants. There is a swimming pool at Chateaulin - 15 mins. The Crozon Peninsula with it's long sandy beaches is only 25 mins drive away. The historic towns of Quimper, Locronan, Concarneau, Douarnanez, Brest and the ferry port of Roscoff are nearby. Perfect for walking, cycling, small families and larger groups. Free Wi-Fi access. English satellite TV. Secure fenced grounds.

A rural retreat close to the Crozon Peninsula.

  • 4 of 5

A very spacious, comfortable, clean property with a well-equipped kitchen, lots of bathrooms and large games room. The lovely woodburning stoves are a nice feature but unfortunately can't be used for insurance reasons. The house is close to Gouzarec village which has a small general store/bakery and is only 35 minutes from the wonderful Trez Bihan beach at Telgruc sur Mer. We found it a very good base for exploring the area and getting together with the family. Communication with Caroline was excellent and she was very helpful and accommodating. We were also well looked after by Richard and Joyce who made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for a very successful holiday.

Relaxation in Brittany

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and well-equipped gite with plenty of space for everyone inside and outside. Games room a bonus on wet days! Peaceful, rural location, well situated for local market towns and beaches on Crozon peninsula. Good restaurant in Pont Coblant. Oceanopolis in Brest well worth a visit. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday - suited all three generations.

Excellent Property

  • 5 of 5

10 out of 10 for La Vieille Ecurie! A fantastic place, central to all coastal areas, loved St Nics and Benodet. The home was very well equipped, with every thing you needed as a family, with a welcome basket of tea, coffee, milk and wine to start our holiday. Marcus who welcomed us to the Gite' was very informative about local areas and the best places to visit, this was appreciated. The games room was well used by our teenage son! The Gite' is situated in a very peaceful setting, even saw shooting stars! it is also near to local towns and shopping. Caroline answered all my queries before the holiday and returned the bond cheque within a couple of days after our return from holiday, this was really appreciated and made the whole experience stress free!. As a family we would definitely recommend it.

Lovely holiday home

  • 5 of 5

La Vieille Ecurie is a beautifully restored old farm building, set in the countryside just outside the villages of Pont Coblant & Gouezec and close to all the amenities at Pleyben. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious, the beds were very comfortable and there was lots of hot water in the modern showers. With three double bedrooms, four complete bathrooms, a huge kitchen with Range cooker, dining room, lounge, large games room and garden, this house has everything a family or group of friends would need from a holiday home. There are two large staircases in the property and a minstrels gallery overlooking the games room, so possibly not ideal for very small children but there is a cot and high chair provided and the lawned garden would be ideal for ball games. We enjoyed days out at the fabulous sandy beaches near St Nic & Morgat and visits to some of the pretty towns and villages nearby - when we weren't relaxing in the garden enjoying the peaceful sounds of the countryside and watching the butterflies. Great communication & service from owners Caroline and Mark and from Marcus & Julie who look after La Vieille Ecurie in their absence - all in all it has been a great experience and I would recommend it to others.

La Vieille Ecurie

  • 5 of 5

10 out of 10 for La Vieille Ecurie! What a lovely place. Immaculate, enormous (on top of everything else, four beautiful bathrooms), comfortable, well-equipped and within easy reach of everything anyone could want for a perfect holiday: great beaches, swimming pools, shops (at Quimper), aquariums, paintballing, lovely countryside... We would definitely recommend it and hope to return before too long.

There is a variety of restaurants and cafes along the beach-front (25 mins by car). Morgat also has a very long seafront. It has some of the most fantastic caves in Brittany. (35 mins by car).

Brest airport - 45 mins

Roscoff port - 45 mins

If coming by train car hire is available in Quimper.

The village of Gouezec is within walking distance (10 mins), where there is a bakery and a butchers shop. Pont Coblant can also be walked to (15 mins) where there are a couple of bars, one is on the edge of the Nantes Brest Canal. The town of Pleyben is 5 mins by car, where there are supermarkets, a Chocolatier, bakers, creperies, banks and a magnificent church which is floodlit at night. The medieval village of Locronon (20 mins by car). Concarneau, the historic walled town (45 mins by car)

Further Details:

Seafood in particular is a speciality in this area. There are many great restaurants. There are banks at Pleyben and Chateaulin with cash card points. There are also garages at Pleyben and Chateaulin. The Nantes Brest canal is good for walks and cycling. A very relaxing, comfortable place to be.
