Little Thatch is a delightful cottage, quiet and secluded in stunning countryside yet within easy access to several market towns and many other local amenities and nearby pubs within easy reach. The cottage is ideally suitable for two couples in two ensuite king size bedrooms or a family with two children in twin beds which can easily be arranged. Parking is ample and convenient opposite the house and the private garden is accessible from the living room and kitchen and overlooks the rolling fields, a total sun trap in nice weather!

About the Owner

We have owned 'Little Thatch' for many years. Visitors choose Derbyshire because it is such a beautiful county and often make return visits to the cottage as it provides a most comfortable base for their holiday. We have lived here nearby for over 46 years and our three children have had a very happy childhood pursuing their various hobbies in a safe unspoilt environment.

What a beautiful cottage. Everything you could wish for including big fluffy white.towels in the bathrooms. The owners made us and the dog very welcome and we were spoiled for choice as there is lots to.see and do locally. We cannot recommend this cottage too highly - wonderful.

Perfectly cosy.

Such a lovely, peaceful retreat. Incredibly well equipped and comfortable, clean and cosy. A wonderful warm welcome from Cynthia and David, very reassuring and made us feel at ease. We had a great Easter weekend exploring the Peak District with the children and dog, this was the perfect base.

Fantastic - Proper Thatched Cottage

Had a fantastic week at the 'little thatch' cottage. It was like a home away from home, everything you could have wanted was provided. The location was perfect for all the attractions we wanted to go to e.g. Alton Towers, Heights of Abraham and Carsungton Water. My girls, aged 4 and 11 thought it was brilliant, loved the bedrooms and 'real' log fire. The nearby town of Belper had everything you would need and a good selection of pubs and restaurants to visit. The cottage was immaculate and so cosy, beds were so comfortable. Cynthia and David were excellent and came to check we were ok after we had settled in. Definitely booking for next year, can't wait!

A beautiful little cottage set in lovely scenery.Quiet and peaceful,rush hour is the sheep appearing in the field adjacent to the cottage!

The cottage is immaculate with everything you could possibly need.The owners, David and Cynthia made us very welcome and were there to wish us a safe jouney home.

It is a good base for country walks and sightseeing and well worth a visit.We would recommend this cottage to everyone.

We chose to live and stay in this beautiful hamlet as we loved the area, ideal for walking and yet not too far away from the necessities of life.

Nearest Airport : East Midland Airport at 15 Miles Nearest Golf : Kedleston Park Golf Club at 4 Miles Nearest Train : Derby at 10 Miles Nearest Motorway : M1 at 8 Miles Nearest Restaurant : The Hanging Gate at 2 Miles Car: recommended

Travel:

Manchester Airport(45 miles) and East Midlands Airport (15 miles) The use of a car is essential as nearest amenities, shops, pubs etc. are up to one mile away.

Distances:

The nearest village is three quarters of a mile away. The cottage is situated equidistant between Ashbourne, Belper and Wirksworth all four miles away.

Further Details:

The local shop is two miles away for newspapers, milk etc. Carsington reservoir is three miles away where there are visitors shops, cycle hire,children’s playground, sailing club, bird sanctuary and delightful walks. The stately homes of Kedleston, Chatsworth House, Sudbury Hall and Haddon Hall are all within easy reach as is Bakewell famous for its Bakewell tarts.

Little Thatch is a superior, cosy, very well equipped thatched cottage in a tranquil setting within easy reach of the market towns of Ashbourne, Wirksworth and Belper. It is also a suitable base for young families who enjoy visiting the Heights of Abraham in Matlock and the Tramway Museum at Chrich. A day out at Alton Towers is also within easy reach. The countryside is also very suitable for walkers and cyclists and there is ample, safe parking close by the cottage.

Outside: The private terraced garden is accessible by the kitchen and the living room and overlooks rolling fields. There is garden furniture and deckchairs available for visitors use and a charcoal barbecue. There is a grass area to the side of the cottage where the morning sun can be enjoyed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels, tea towels and superior linen provided. Other: Stairs out of the kitchen lead up to a landing into upstairs bedroom.
