Bus stops, pubs and a quality supermarket are 'on your doorstep', or leave the car in your private parking space and stroll into Canterbury for a meal/drink sightseeing etc. It is an easily accessible base to enjoy either the City or the surrounding countryside and coastline.

Impressions of 'The Pavilion', Canterbury

‘The Pavilion’ apartment occupies some of the second floor of ‘Elizabeth Court’, standing in its own grounds about one mile from the centre of Canterbury on Old Dover Road. It is spacious, well maintained and very comfortable. All the rooms are large, particularly the sitting room which has a dining area conveniently adjacent to the kitchen. There is an ample supply of good quality crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils and glassware which, together with the fridge, freezer, cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, make routine domestic duties a pleasure in this holiday environment. The apartment hosts fast internet access, a multi channel TV and has a good mobile phone signal. There is a Sainsbury grocery outlet just across the road.

Whilst the distance to the centre of Canterbury is walkable, Old Dover Road is on the Park and Ride bus route into the city with a bus stop close to the front entrance of the building.

I have been particularly impressed by the straightforward way that the owners have marketed this property and dealt with the rental and I would have no hesitation in booking with them again if I should ever need to visit Canterbury.

A wonderful place where to stay

It can happen, when you see pics on the web of a place where to stay, that you then get disappointed when you actually get to the accomodation. With the Pavillion it was the other way round! The flat is much more beautiful and confortable than the already beautiful pics show. It's very spacious, tidy, bright and confortable. It's just a 15minutes pleasant walk from central Canterbury and there are also regular buses. Also, there is a Sainsury's just round the corner (opening hours 7a.m. 11p.m. 7 days a week!) so, whatever time you arrive, you will be able to buy some stuff. BUT, the flat is very well furnished with everything: some food, tea, coffe, all the servings, toilet papers, paper rolls etc... so you won't have to buy the "basics" and this is a great help. Finally, the kitchen has plenty of pots and crockery and the wi fi is fast and reliable. If ever I go back to Canterbury, i'll definitively book again at the Pavillon!

No-one wants to rush out shopping after a long journey, so we always provide starter basics for our guests. The addition of Sainsburys mini-market fairly recently, has also been perfect for holiday guests. Many of our bookings are now returning guests, so maybe we'll see you again in the future. Jacqui

Brilliant penthouse with loads of space

We stayed here for a family week, covering our son's wedding and were very happy as it provided all it advertised plus more. The apartment is bigger than it looks in the photos and in an ideal setting, quiet but close to town. All was clean, tidy and well-maintained with all the facilities you could need and many added little extras, which we appreciated. There was loads of wardrobe space and a parking space which could be seen from a window above. Jacqui (the owner) was the perfect hostess, friendly, efficient and eager to ensure that our stay was to our liking but not interfering. She even let us park our van, loaded with wedding gear, in her garden. All our family loved the apartment and commented on how well it was appointed. There is even a Sainsburys just round the corner. We would certainly recommend this property as we were very comfortable there.

The perfect base for a stay in Canterbury

We spent 8 days in Canterbury for the lead up to our daughters wedding, and The Pavilion was the perfect base for us. Extremely spacious, nice furnishings and very well equipped. The personal touches and little extras provided by the owner makes all the difference.

The photographs don't do it justice! Highly recommended.

Fantastic apartment, great space and setting

The apartment was perfect for us. We had 4 singles travlling for business, and it had ample room for everyone, was furnished and presented to a wonderful standard. Jacqui, the owner was very friendly and helpful.

We will certainly be looking to book the apartment again when the need arises.

The description was very accurate, linens and towels were of a high standard, and there were lots of lovely comforting touches.

Car: not necessary


Nearest coast is 10 miles - good sandy beaches at Minnis Bay, Broadstairs, St Margarets Bay, Dymchurch. Whitstable is a popular local seaside town with quirky and historic shops and houses.


Manston Airport - 15 miles, Gatwick - 60 miles, Dover channel port - 10 miles, Shuttle - 15 miles. Car not essential. We can collect guests/luggage from station on request.


10 minute walk from City Centre

Howletts Zoo - 10 mins drive, Dover Castle - 20 mins drive, Leeds Castle 40 mins drive. 20 mins drive away from EuroStar/Shuttle/Dover port.

Short stroll to Chaucer BMI / Kent & Canterbury Hospitals, Kent County Cricket and Canterbury Rugby.

Quality supermarket very close by.

Further Details:

Canterbury has two railway stations with hi-speed trains, making the tourist attractions of London possible in less than an hour. There is a frequent London coach service (pick-up very close to apartment). Very easy access to A2 motorway Dover/London. Walk (or cross the road for a very short bus ride) into Canterbury city centre - a visit to the Cathedral is a 'must'.

Dover Castle and Leeds Castle are very popular visits. Day trips to France by ferry or Eurostar are easily possible.

  • Notes on accommodation: Infinity WiFi is installed, making it easy to communicate world-wide 24/7. The apartment has two private balconies with tables and chairs. Soft shoes only allowed on our lovely new wooden floors! Smoking is not permitted on this site. Pets are not allowed.
