Notes on accommodation: Ash cottage is attached to the owners property. The stairs are open tread and there are no spindles between newel posts (see photographs). This may be of importance for families with very young children. There are window opening restrictors (with keys provided for removal if necessary) on all bedroom windows, because the windows are less than 1 metre from floor level. Smoking is not allowed inside the property. One well behaved dog is welcome at no extra cost. We ask that you restrict your dog to the downstairs area and do not leave it alone in the house when you are out. Outside: Ash Cottage has a large secluded garden laid mainly to lawn with patio and table and chairs with ample room for playing ball games. There is a 2 acre field to exercise dogs and off-road parking for two or three cars. There is an outside tap with hose attached to wash muddy boots, shoes and dogs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen included. Property is cleaned prior to arrival and if stay is longer than 1 week, fresh linen and cleaning are available. Other: Large porch with laundry basket, pegs, clothes airer, iron, coat hooks, boot and shoe cupboard

A lovely stay in Ash Cottage

  • 4 of 5

'We have really enjoyed our stay at Ash Cottage. Thank you for being so welcoming and making us feel at home. Had lots of packed days and have seen lots of places, Bude being our favourite! Lots of room to walk the dogs in the field and plenty of dog-friendly places and pubs. Healeys Cyder Farm was great and we have some cider to take home with us! Stopped at the Countryman Inn and Restaurant on our final night, it was lovely. The perfect end to a perfect holiday, thank you.'

A lovely little home to relax in on holiday. Tea bags and milk supplied for a brew on arrival. Just what was needed.

The cottage is quite central for travelling. Really enjoyed bude and lynford gorge. Roughly 40 minute's from the nearest beach.

The cottage was clean, Every thing you needed was to hand. Bedding and towels supplied. Owners lovely. Live next door. Extremely helpful if you need anything but invisible if you wished to be left alone..

Not recommended for pets. Dogs not allowed in garden or to be left in house alone. The Field is fantastic for them but we found if we were outside we had to shut her in the house so she wouldn't go on the lawn. 90% of the time we took our dog out with us but occasionally we went out for a meal or to the supermarket and couldn't take her and felt very on edge knowing she was in the house alone and she shouldn't of been.

I would definitely recommend this cottage for families and would go back but I wouldn't advise to take pets.

Owner's Response: Very pleased to receive such a positive review. Other dog owners have also appreciated the adjoining two acre field for dog walking and understand that we prefer to keep the garden area dog-free for the sake of families with young children. We do ask our visitors not to leave their dog alone in a house that it is not accustomed to as this can cause the animal distress. There are many beaches and pubs that are dog friendly and of course there is Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor both within easy reach providing miles of beautiful walks. Bude, which is the nearest beach is just 25 minutes away.
