About the Owner

We are Carol and Neil Cooper-Smith and we live in West Yorkshire with our daughter Florence, who is 16. She was a 2 year old toddler when we bought our house and we've loved spending as much time as possible in Argeles, as there's so much to see, do and experience. We bought the house because Argeles is a very child friendly resort, but also a place which has loads of things to do for people of all ages. We knew it would be a place which our family and friends would always love.

Lovely Location

Lovely location close to Port and beach but would need transport to village of Argeles which is very pretty and interesting. There is a bus ?1 only and very convenient to house which takes you to village and other towns nearby great value - so car not essential.

The house was as described but kitchen had only a table to work off with no worktops. No Hairdryer so bring you own. Bed linen is a problem and hired linen was really old and and threadbare simply not worth the money. No vegetarian options on menus in restaurants except usual pizza and omelette - thus need for self-catering. Car hire available in village if needed. Great Location and house with patio lovely.

We'd done a lot of research on the area before we bought the house and we were decided on Argeles because of the range of facilities and activities, as well as beautiful landscape and culture. Although Neil is an architect, we wanted new, as we didn't want to spend all of our precious holidays on DIY. Because we have a young family and usually take family or friends with us, we wanted somewhere within easy access (ie walking) to lots of different types of facilities. That means we chose a location which is lively with lots to see and do, but which also has easy access to beautiful countryside and culture.

Nearest Airport : Perpignan at 15 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Autour du Monde en 80 Bieres/Abalounge at 100 Metres Nearest Golf : St Cyprien at 5 Kilometres Nearest Train : Argeles sur Mer at 2 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A7 at 5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Port Argeles Marina is full of restaurants at 100 Metres Nearest Beach : Argeles Plage at 300 Metres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Several scuba diving schools and companies running fishing trips in the Marina. Also a windsurfing/canoe school on the beach, where you have lessons or simply hire a board or boat. Lots of walking in and around the area, some of which is guided. An abundance of historical sites, vineyards, spas, Art and culture. Very helpful Tourist Information Centre in the main resort (15 minute walk). For children, there are numerous kids' clubs and activities and just up the coast 15 min drive is a large water park Aquaplaned, which is a fantastic day out for all the family.


An easy 5 minute walk (300 mtrs) to a lovely sandy beach (Blue Flag) and a safe Mediterranean sea. In the summer season, the beach is cleaned daily and is patrolled by lifeguards. There are some great facilities on the way: Port Argeles Marina, with its shops, bars and restaurants is only a short walk away; the promenade, which is flat has great facilities such as a beach cafe, which serves hot food and snacks and rents sunbeds by the day and a children's club with a pool and inflatables.


Perpignan (PGF) is the nearest airport. Approx 45 mins by car. Gerona (GRO) over the border in Spain; it's a big Ryanair hub & is only 40 miles away approx 1 1/4 hour drive. Carcassone is 1 hour, Toulouse and Barcelona both approx 2 hours drive. Car hire at all airports. A car is not an essential requirement, as most facilities are in walking distance. There is also a resort "Petit Train" and a 1 Euro local bus service to other locations.


The Port Argeles Marina is across the road from the house and has a huge range of shops, bakeries, cafes, restaurants. Dr's, dentist, pharmacies are in the main resort (15 min walk). Twice weekly markets in the Marina in the summer season. Many of the surrounding villages (10 - 30 mins drive) offer a further choice of restaurants and markets. Immense amount of places of historical interest, Art, walks, vineyards, culture.

Further Details:

Mini-market in the Marina, larger supermarket in the resort and a large Lidl and Carrefour hypermarket in Argeles town. Helpful Tourist Information Centre in the main resort (15 mins walk). Plenty of cash point machines in Port Argeles and in the main resort. There is a large waterpark Aqualand, 15 mins drive at St Cyprien, which is a great family day out. Funfairs, inflatable parks for children are within easy reach. It is a fantastic resort and area, with something for everyone to suit all ages and tastes.

Booking Notes:
As we work with a local agent to manage our bookings, we deal in Euros. We require a 25% deposit at the time of booking (conversion rate of the day). The balance is payable either 1 month before arrival, or with a credit card direct to our agency on arrival. A local tourist tax of 30 E will be levied on deposit. Prices include a 3% insurance required in law. If the booking less than 1 month away, then full payment due. E300 per booking returnable deposit against damages (cash). Cleaning is included in the price.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday; departure by 11am and arrival between 3 and 7pm. The house will be cleaned for your arrival and you'll need to pick the key up from our agency (more details at time of booking).

We don't provide bed linen or towels. You can either bring your own or we can arrange for linen rental from a local laverie via our Agency. There will be separate a charge for this, payable direct to our Agency on arrival.

25% non refundable deposit on reservation. Although the balance is due one month before arrival date, the Agency which manages our bookings is happy to accept payment on arrival.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

Our house is in a superb location if you want easy walking access to a huge range of facilities and activities. We have private parking, which is a real benefit in summer, when the resort can get busy. We don't boast a pool, but then, you are only 300 mtrs from the Mediterranean Sea! The Marina, which is in close proximity, has twice weekly farmers' markets,firework displays and musical entertainment. A huge array of restaurants from cheap and cheerful to gourmet means that you don't have to cook unless you want to. Vineyards and Caves sell locally produced wine. You will not want to come home!

The house is within easy reach of a huge range of facilities: beach & sea, marina, restaurants, bars, shops, children's play areas and a short drive from outstanding countryside, vineyards and romanesque towns. Outside: We have a small patio terrace garden off the lounge with table & 6 chairs. Dining under shade of a canopy if needed. Build in BBQ. The patio enjoys full sunshine from early morning to mid afternoon. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We are assisted by a local agency, which manages our bookings, arranges key handovers, cleans the house before arrival & assists with any issues whilst you are on holiday. Linen and towels are not provided, but can be hired through our local agency. Other: Private drive which accommodates one car and a secure rail for a motorbike or bicycle. French doors from living room lead to a small patio garden, which has a build in bbq, with table and 6 chairs. There is a pull out canopy to shield the morning sun.
