About the property

Huge,4 bed roomed luxurious house with large secure garden, ample safe parking

La Vrilletterie is a 200 year old longere style property which comprises a former farmhouse and farm buildings set around a gravel courtyard. Built of the warm, local tuffeau stone, it retains all the old timber roof beams and varied tiled floors. Situated off a small private road in rolling countryside and woodlands, La Vrilletterie offers security, privacy and easy access to wonderful walks and bike rides. The house is fully centrally heated and has a large wood burning stove for your comfort. For those considering a Christmas or New Year break, we are happy to discuss your requirements.

The Loire Valley offers unique opportunities for autumn and spring holidays with many chateaux open all the year round with wonderful cycling terrain for cycling enthusiasts. There is also an excellent range of golf courses within easy travelling distance.

The large, secure garden affords children the freedom to amuse themselves on the swings, in the hammocks, riding the bicycles, or befriending Muffin (the resident pooch) or chickens whilst mum, dad and possibly grandparents relax and unwind. A glass of wine or two, whilst not obligatory, seems to help this process and Stephen is happy to take you for a wine tasting at local vineyards to find a wine that suits your palate. We have secure facilities for storing bicycles if you bring your own, but have a good range of well maintained cycles available for all ages and abilities. We also have a games room with table tennis table, darts, punch bag and a variety of garden games.

The fabulous heated swimming pool, 10m x 4.5m is up to 1.75m deep so there is plenty of room for serious swimmers. Surrounded by a huge sun patio with a variety of comfortable loungers, you can relax and tan. Please note the pool will be open and warmed from 1st May through to late September. We cannot guarantee that it will be open outside these dates as it is subject to prevailing weather conditions.

It is hard to do justice to this property with either words or pictures, so please read our previous clients untouched reviews to get a real sense of just how good a holiday experience we offer.

About Stephen Yates

Stephen and Diana visited many properties in France before choosing La Vrilletterie as the place in which to make their new life. This exciting challenge has proved to be an amazing success and we thank all our clients for their generous reviews.

We have now completed all the major improvements we had planned and visitors have the use of the new al fresco dinning and bbq area and our indoor games room is equipped for table tennis and darts. Our latest addition of a wood fired pizza oven is proving popular.

Diana's culinary skills are legendary and you will be welcomed with one of her lemon drizzle cakes. Her soft charm will make you feel most welcome.

Stephen's vegetable garden provides a range of seasonal salads, herbs and vegetables.

Have just returned from the most fantastic stay in the most beautiful Gite!

Diana and Stephen have obviusly poured their heart and sole into making their property a perfect escape for their guests! Everything from the beds to the kitchen equipement was off a very high standard. As hosts, they could not have been more attentive or approachable. We asked if Diana could provide dinner for us on

two of our evening there and were blown away with both meals!!! All home

cooked and her lemon drizzle cake would put Paul Hollywood to shame!!!

My husband and I returned completely relaxed and with our friends have already

booked our trip their next spring.

I cannot receommend this destination enough, both as an area of France with gorgeous castles to visit and beuatiful little villages to sit and watch the world go by.

Can't wait for next spring!!!

This was our second visit to La Vrielletterie, the first being at Easter in 2015. We were very much looking forward to enjoying the Gite and the surrounding areas during the Summertime and were not disappointed.

We had a wonderful holiday with great weather and our two children enjoyed the pool, the bikes and generally playing around the property. We had fresh vegetables from Stephen's garden and were pleased to see Muffin again as well as the horses.

We would recommend this property which was wonderful and thank Stephen and Diana for their hospitality and kindness.

Another wonderful holiday......

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our 2nd holiday to La Vrilletterie and we were not disappointed. This is the most beautiful accommodation set in a glorious rural location but within easy reach of some lovely towns, villages and Chateaux - perfect to explore when you need a break from the stunning gardens and inviting pool. Stephen and Diana are the most wonderful hosts - on hand to provide tips for places to visit; provide courgettes, potatoes and salad for your evening meal - dug straight from the allotment; provide advice on how to perfect the best pizza; or to provide the most amazing dining experience in their salon. We really can't fault the whole La Vrilletterie experience and look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you Stephen, Diana and of course Muffin, for making our 2nd holiday such a fantastic week.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Having been first visit to the Loire Valley and France, I was absolutely blown away when we approached the Farmhouse and Gite. The amount of heart, soul and work that both Stephen and Diana have put in is instantly noticeable. The Gite itself is most certainly breath-taking; the attention to detail, the facilities available and the immediate feeling of coming home is lovely. All bedrooms are doubles with ensuite and are so comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and fitted to a high standard. All mod-cons, including tv and wfi is also available.

The outside bbq area is nothing short of fabulous for getting together and entertaining.

The pool area is tucked quietly around the back is a place to relax and unwind.

Stephen and Diana themselves are perfect hosts. We had arranged to have dinner with them on our first a last night. We were invited into their home and dined on wonderfully home-cooked food which was nothing short of fabulous. On our first morning, a basket of croissants, pain au chocolate and baguettes appeared on our doorstep, together with home grown potatoes, cucumbers and courgettes.

The area itself if peaceful and relaxing, but you do not have to travel far to visit little villages, Chateaus and of course the vineyards - which Stephen and Diana are happy to arrange for you.

I would note think twice about returning and very much hope that I do in the very near future.

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at La Vrilletterie. The facilities are to the absolute highest standard. The property is unbelievably peaceful and set in glorious countryside with great walking. Stephen and Diana are lovely people, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They coped admirably with 8 adults and 2 German Shepherds. Would love to go back.

A Perfect Haven

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous property in an idyllic, tranquil location; away from it all yet only five minutes from a boulangerie and fifteen from a supermarket.Located in peaceful rolling farmland, La Vrilletterie is suitable for people of all ages. We were a party of six (ranging in age from 66 to 6) plus two dogs and we all, including the dogs, (the grounds are totally enclosed) had an excellent holiday.Diana and Stephen have paid wonderful attention to detail; everything necessary is provided and generously so. Consumables, such as coffee, tea, sugar, loo rolls etc were in abundance, and we were greeted with delicious cakes, milk in the fridge and an invitation to help ourselves from the "salad bar" to fresh vegetables and herbs. The property is spotless and spacious; the furnishings are very comfortable (especially the beds) and the bed linen and towels are of excellent quality. We made great use of a well-designed barbecue and ate al fresco from morning to night. The Games Room was great fun (darts and table tennis) and the kids especially enjoyed the pool and feeding the hens. Stephen and Diana were extremely helpful when we needed something and gave us complete space when we didn't. As an added bonus, Muffin their dog, is something of a Lionel Messi when it comes to playing with his football. We would highly recommend this property.
