House in East Cowes, Esplanade, Isle of Wight, England - Ideal For A Stroll Along The Esplanade, Fishing Off The Sea Wall Or A Short Walk Into Town

The Watch House is a Grade II Listed Old Coastguard Boathouse with spectacular views of Cowes Harbour Entrance across to West Cowes and the Solent across to the Hampshire Coast from all rooms, garden, balcony and patio. This is in an ideal location to watch the large assortment of ships and sunsets; sleeps 5/6 in 3 bedrooms.

The house was built in the 1880’s as part of the boat house for the coastguards. To the north is a terrace of Coastguard Cottages. During the 1920’s it was converted into a home. For a short time during the Second World War it was a munitions store and a lookout point.

The Watch House is a short, level walk from the town centre, the Boat Museum, the Chain Ferry to West Cowes, Red Funnel’s Terminal or strolling along the Esplanade to a café and children’s playground and woods beyond or fishing & crabbing off the sea wall.

You may see a sand piper at low tide or a Cormorant siting on the breakwater.

The kitchen diner has French Doors onto the patio; while the living room has triple aspect sash windows.

There is a double, twin and a single (with a pull out bed under) bedrooms and bathroom with shower over the bath. The balcony is off the single bedroom, from here you have spectacular views of the water activities and drinks while watching the sunset.

About the Owner

We fell in love with The Watch House & its idyllic location from our very first visit. 2012 was spent renovating the house allowing us to open in the spring of 2013. We have had so much positive feedback with many guests each year. We have lived on the Island for over 30 years & have a wealth of local knowledge; in our opinion there is no better place to be than sitting on the balcony on a warm summer evening with a glass of wine watching the sunset.

We look forward to sharing our little haven with you.

Breathtaking

We highly recommend this beautiful holiday home to anyone who loves to people and boat watch!

Stunning views across the Solent to the mainland, with something to see throughout the day and night.

To watch the huge cruise ships setting sail from Southampton from the comfort of this lovely home is amazing!

The house itself caters for your every need. It is well equipped, clean, and comfortable. In fact, so comfortable that you have to tear yourself away from it to go exploring!

We love the history of the listed building, and the fact that the owners have restored it so beautifully, saving it from dereliction.

Angie and David are very helpful and attentive, making sure that all is well for you. We would certainly go back if ever we have the chance.

A perfect house in a perfect location.

We had another wonderful stay in the beautiful Watch House from 8th - 12th September 2014. The views are amazing and the house is perfect, Angie has thought of everything and is so welcoming. The house is very close to the supermarket, buses, car ferry port and chain ferry to West Cowes making it ideal for holidaymakers with or without a car. We hope to return again for our 3rd stay next year.

AN ABSOLUTE GEM

This delightful house provided a very relaxing and comfortable week's holiday. Everything was immaculate and the view was magnificent - in fact you could sit all day and every day watching the activity and never be bored. We had to make ourselves go out but always were keen to return. Angie has done a wonderful job of restoration and conversion and richly deserves the plaque of commendation which is on the wall by the front door. We would highly recommend this property to anyone. With Waitrose just round the corner, who could ask for more!!!

We have returned feeling refreshed and relaxed - thank you.
