About the Owner

My family have owned the cottage since the 30's as it was originally my grandfathers holiday cottage. They lived in Plymouth ! Now it is a treasured cottage with association of many great memories for every one in our family from all generations.

This is a great little cottage, it has everything you need and is clean and tidy. The cottage is in the heart of Salcombe, close to the shops, pubs and ferries. We had a great holiday, thank you.

Salcombe is well renowned for its estuary which is a perfect place for Sailing, Fishing, Surfing, and exploring the cliff walks whilst enjoying the restaurants, Pubs and Bars.


The closest beaches are only a short walk in to town (5 mins) and then a 3 min ferry to the other side of the estuary. Or you can drive to the mouth of the estuary and enjoy North or South Sands.


Exeter Airport is one hours drive or Plymouth for the Continental Ferry is 45 mins away.

Booking Notes:
Bookings can be made by Phone. We like to accept a deposit of £250 and a balance 8 weeks before the booking date. Sheets and Towels are not provided so we can keep the weekly cost down. But these can be rented over the road at Travel Light if you prefer not to bring your own.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is on a Friday so it is possible to come for a weekend. Arrival is after 3pm and Departure is before 10.30am. If you want to come for a long weekend out of season we can consider a weekend rate.

We expect deposits to be paid on booking and balances paid 6 weeks before the holiay.

21 Island Street is a lovely self catering holiday cottage, perfectly located next to the beautiful Salcombe estuary, a short level walk (only 5 mins) into the pretty town centre, and an ideal base from which to explore The Salcombe Estuary, The South Hams and The West Country beyond. The cottage has two bedrooms and can sleep 4-6 guests (4 comfortably). This lovely cottage has been our family bolt hole for over 80 years, and is a great destination for family beach holidays or grown-up weekend escapes, with the nearby pristine beaches, epic coastal walks, and Salcombe's cosy pubs and excellent restaurants.

  • Notes on accommodation: Changeover day - Fridays arrival after 3pm, departure by 10.30am Outside: There is a sweet communal court yard. This can be used for BBQ's etc. at the back of the house. Its not big but an area you can sit out in a chair and have a coffee in the morning sunshine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen - is not supplied, but if you would rather not bring your own linen can be hired through either Travel Light situated rather conveniently opposite the cottage) or through the excellent '3 sheets to the wind' in the nearby town of Kingsbridge
