About Delia Sabundayo

I’ve always dreamed of owning a villa in Spain. I love the architecture, history and close proximity to the rest of Europe. When I had a chance to go to Spain to look at opportunities to choose a plot of land and build in Monte Pego, I jumped at the chance. I fell in love with the area immediately and had no doubts that I would buy a plot overlooking the sea and built this villa. Please enjoy staying in my villa and I hope you fall in love like I did.

Delia Sabundayo purchased this villa in 1980

Why Delia Sabundayo chose La Marina Alta

The first visited to Monte Pego I fell in love with the community, people, sea and mountain views, beaches, coastal and inland villages, the scent of the orange groves, and the sunsets are so amazing. What’s not to love? We have so much fun walking in Denia as small fishing boats are bobbing with the flow of the sea, and chosing from many seaside restaurants might be difficult. During our very long meals at seaside we watch people from all over the world walking by. We loved it so much we custom built Villa DelChel in 1989. My kids would travel there every summer with their friends to enjoy Spain. The area holds all the beauty of Spain without the crowds. A very good friend who lives in Monte Pego year round told me once it’s a feast for the eyes. Welcome to Villa DelChel.

What makes this villa unique

I choose this plot for the views, privacy and ease of building on a level plot of land. This villa is the last villa on a short dead end road and allowed my kids to walk to a nearby café for pizza and meeting friends.

The views were fab and the villa was lovely

  • 4 of 5

It could be 5 star if a few things were maintained a bit better. Just small things but by fixing or replacing things would raise the rating. The booking was very straight forward and the people very helpful.

Fantastic house with an incredible view!

  • 5 of 5

We were two families staying in the house and we have nothing to complain about. The location is great and the view is stunning.

A big thank to Liz who were really helpful with some small issues that came up during our stay.

Coast/Beach:

Drive a short distance through orange groves to coastal beach towns of Les Poblets, Olivia, and Denia.

Travel:

Only 90 kilometres to Alicante and Valencia airports. Denia port include ferries to Ibiza.

Distances:

Denia has a twenty-kilometre-long coastline, which presents fine sands in the northern part, yet steep and rocky sections to the south. The municipality has countless one-storey houses scattered around, with white façades, red-tiled roofs, and the typical porches from this region, called "riu-rau". We can access the Montgó Nature Reserve from the road that goes to Javea, which passes through Las Rotas, and San Antonio Cape. A lighthouse sits on this cape, on top of a cliff that is 163 metres hig

Further Details:

Denia is a delightful cosmopolitan town located along the Mediterranean coastline, where the sun shines almost all year. Its climate of mild temperatures and its 20 kms of sandy beaches and rocky coves makes Denia an ideal place for family beach holidays.

The Romans dedicated this city to the goddess Diana, and turned its port into one of the most active in the Peninsula. Up to this day, Denia has not ceased to be visited.

The Muslim castle keeps many examples of its heritage at the Archaeological museum. The city also has remarkable monuments such as the church of Asunción, from the 18th century, with Renaissance and Baroque reredos; and the City Hall, which still has in its façade two memorial tablets from the ancient temple of Diana. The avenue of Marqués de Campo, the cosmopolitan setting for the festivities of Moors and Christians, is complemented by the fisherman's quarter, the most popular and gregarious area in town. Denia has a commercial port and a marina.

Javea is located between the capes of San Antonio and Nao, Jávea is one of the most important tourist destinations on the Costa Blanca. The historic quarter, located two kilometres away from the coastline, preserves a beautiful architecture, with emblematic monuments such as the church of San Bartolome, the city's neuralgic centre.

One of the main attractions of this region is its coastline. No less than twenty kilometres of sands and hidden coves where visitors can enjoy a swim and a wide variety of water sports.

Calpe is dominated by the imposing image of the Rock of Ifach, Calpe sits on the shores of the Mediterranean, surrounded by a beautiful landscape filled with mountains and vineyards. Many ancient civilisations settled in this town in the Marina Alta region of Alicante, a history narrated by the remains it preserves, which include the Roman baths "Baños de la Reina" (Queen's Baths).
