About the Owner

We bought Yew Tree Cottage 4 years ago and it forms half the house in which we have lived since 1979. We have completely refurbished YTC to be a holiday home. We are semi retired and keep a small holding with sheep and chickens. Someone should be around most of the time to help with queries/directions etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

September 2014. Yew Tree Cottage was the ideal retreat to get away from everything! So peaceful and the Sunday lunch at the pub comes recommended. Thanks to Norman and Pauline for their hospitality and letting us use the pool for Annabelles first swim.

November 2014 It has been everything we hoped from a traditional farmhouse. We've walked through the lanes and fields directly from the door in a lovely part of the world. Hope to come again.

November 2014 Everything better than we could have imagined. Certainly one of the best and cosiest cottages we have stayed in.

A beautiful character cottage in a lovely village

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a short break at the cottage and had a fabulous time. The property has so much character and is well equipped with all the home comforts you would want, including a large wood burning stove. The owner, Pauline, is lovely and can help with any queries or advice on places to visit. The meal at the local pub was so good we returned for lunch on our last day! I would recommend this property and would not hesitate to book again if we stay in Suffolk.

Idyllic property

  • 5 of 5

We were met when we arrived by Pauline the owner & were given a guided tour of the wonderful accomodation. Everything was of top quality & in good condition. There was nothing we needed, a good supply of cooking utensils, crockery & cutlery. A supply of teas, coffees, milk & all cleaning things supplied. We wanted for nothing. The pool was superb with music to swim too, 2 showers also, made my holiday. Sheep to feed & also chickens. Very quiet & lovely countryside retreat. The only problem some people may find is getting upstairs as there is a very difficult wooden curved staircase, people with disabilities would find it hard. We would love to return again, a perfect holiday. Thankyou you to Pauline & Norman for making us very welcome.

We really enjoyed our 1st stay at yew tree cottage. Pauline and Norman are very welcoming and great hosts. We all really enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and being able to feed the chickens would definatly love to return. We visited framlingham castle, southwold, and great yarmouth and spent time just relaxing at the cottage. Would recommend this property to everyone had a great week away.

Fantastic and relaxing house, gardens & location.

  • 5 of 5

Pauline and Norman are wonderful friendly people and made us very welcome in such a wonderful house. The swimming pool is amazing and was available to use every day after trips out. The chickens, sheep and cats added to the atmosphere of tranquillity. The location is perfect for tripping off to the coast, or inland to the many superb places to visit. It is excellent for families or for couples. The weather is very good usually and there is plenty to see and do, Aldeburgh is a lovely place to visit for a seaside town and Orford is also excellent with its Castle. Try to visit Thorpeness and go in a rowing boat and Flixton Free Air Museum.

Overall it was a brilliant 2 weeks and would definitely recommend staying at Yew Tree Cottage if you wish to visit wonderful Suffolk.

Great house and location for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and had a great time. Perfect for our young children with lots of outside space, a pool and trips to the coast.

The house was lovely too, a beautifully renovated house which has kept its character. Highly recommended for a trip to this part of Suffolk.
