Country House in Markington, Harrogate, Yorkshire, England - Peaceful Location, The Perfect House For Entertaining Family And Friends

This charming country house has elegant reception rooms and ample privately owned (traffic free) outdoor space, including a tennis court, making it the perfect retreat for entertaining friends and family.

Situated in the peaceful North Yorkshire countryside on the edge of the village of Markington, and between Harrogate and Ripon, it is perfectly located to see some of Yorkshire's most famous tourist attractions.

Next to the house is the world renowned equestrian centre - the Yorkshire Riding centre. Guests at the house can visit the horses in their stables and watch lessons on the cross country course should they desire to.

The house comfortably sleeps 17.

There are also wooden chalets on the property, which are available for additional accommodation at an extra cost. These can sleep up to 10 in single beds.

Maximum Capacity is 27 people.

About Belinda Bartle

Barolin Farm is the family home in which I grew up. I am the youngest of the Bartle family, renowned for their fame and success in the horse world. It adjoins the Yorkshire Riding Centre, which my mother founded in 1962. We enjoyed a wonderful and eccentric childhood here, wondering about the extensive grounds and riding constantly. Guests at Barolin Farm, are welcome to visit the horses and watch lessons taking place. Now my two daughters have grown up and fled the nest, and after a very successful stay at new years by a group of friends, we have now decided to make it available for groups to rent out. We receive plaudits for it's unique charm, comfort and suitability.

Barolin Farm was originally part of the Wilberforce estate built in the late 18th century, and it is very much a country house set in beautiful Yorkshire countryside between Harrogate and Ripon.

It is in a great situation for a rural retreat, surrounded by rolling Yorkshire countryside, half a mile outside the sleepy village of Markington.

Its perfectly located for access to Yorkshire's most popular tourist destinations; two miles from the great heritage site Fountains Abbey and six miles from Newby Hall.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Barolin Farm has 8 spacious bedrooms, sleeping 17 all en suite.

The large farmhouse kitchen with an Aga is very much the heart of the house.

Adjoining the kitchen is a snug area with solid fuel stove.

The large drawing room with log fire and the dining room make entertaining in this house a real occasion.

So there is plenty of room for large groups and all generations to enjoy.

The one acre walled garden on the South side of the house and the courtyard on the North provides ample traffic free safe space for children to let off steam.

There is also a tennis court to play in.

The location is a little out of the way which was perfect for us, very tranquil.

Outside: On the South side there is a one acre walled garden, with a large lawn and terrace area in front of the house, perfect for BBQs in Summer. There is a hard tennis court to one corner of the garden. On approaching the house there is a large courtyard, and extensive private, traffic free land to walk and play in safely. Utility Room: There is access to a freezer and washing and drying machines. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen are provided. The property is cleaned in preparation for new arrivals. For changes of towels and bedlinen and additional cleaning services during your stay can be arranged at an extra cost. Catering/ Private Chef: This can be arranged on request.

Beautiful house ideal for large groups

Stayed with a group of adults for a hen party, but I think this house would equally suit a family with children as it is so spacious and the gardens are beautiful.

All the rooms have either an ensuite or access to a private bathroom . The kitchen is large and well equipped.

A lovely if tired property. Well equipped. Belinda very helpful but not intrusive

We loved this brilliant house

Our host couldn't have done more for us. She was really welcoming. The kitchen was a perfect space to entertain and the lovely aga was lovely and warm! We stayed in the lounge close to the kitchen but there was another large lounge too. The chalet accommodation was super and gave us the extra beds we needed. There can't be many houses that comfortably house 20+. Really cost effective for such a massive garden and accommodation. This house would be so perfect at Christmas or New Years. Having said that, one of the rooms and the landing was full of flies which we had to keep hoovering up and a couple of the bathrooms and bedrooms were in need of refurb, but besides these tiny things, the accommodation was perfect. Would definitely definitely rebook.

Brilliant for a large gathering

What a fantastic house! A perfect venue for uni reunion with all the facilities you'll need. The amount of bedroom space all with own bathrooms made it all the more enjoyable and the huge grounds and garden meant we didn't need to leave the house all weekend! We're already wanting to book for next year!

Amazing house for a hen weekend!

I've just spent the weekend here for my sisters hen party and had a brilliant time!! Belinda was a great hostess and made our stay as comfortable as possible. The house was perfect for 17 of us with plenty of space and beautiful bedrooms. We had great weather so managed to enjoy the amazing gardens as well! We also used a private chef Belinda directed us to who was fantastic and came to the house to cook us all a lovely 3 course meal.

Will be recommending this place to friends and family!

Great option for our, and maybe your, large family reunion

Lovely rural location adjacent to charming equestrian centre. House itself is large, with ample country-style kitchen and several cosy reception rooms downstairs and 7 or 8 well appointed double bedrooms upstairs. Large, enclosed garden to rear, with tennis court, so good for relaxing and safe for children. Some bits of property a bit dated or in need of tlc, but overall quality is good and in keeping with the rustic location. My family of 16, from age 60 to 6 weeks, had lovely long weekend there. Dining rooms large enough for group that size.
