Updated: 04-Dec-2016
Luxury Lodge in Soar, Nr. Salcombe, Devon, England - Luxury Holiday Lodge. Quiet Peaceful Location. 10-15 Mins Walk To Beach. Sleeps 4+1(2 Bedrooms)

New to market 2013 -This is a modern lodge on a small, peaceful development in an area designated as “outstanding natural beauty”. Situated in the peaceful hamlet of Soar, just above Soar Mill Cove where there is a beautiful, unspoilt sandy beach with rock pools. Nearby there are amazing walks along the South West coastal path, some of the most stunning coastline in the country with access to many other sandy beaches and coves. The area has an abundance of wildlife including kestrels, buzzards, gannets, skylarks, hares and the occasional red deer. Hope Cove, Marlborough and other local villages offer excellent pubs/restaurants. Salcombe (within 3 miles) is renown for sailing, fishing and water sports and also has some excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. From Salcombe there are foot passenger ferries across the estuary and to South Sands (2 miles from Soar) and Kingsbridge. Totnes, Dartmouth, Slapton Sands, Burgh Island and the South Devon steam railway are all well worth a visit.

About the Owner

We are married with 3 children. We have taken early retirement but are actively involved with a children's charity and regular trips to children's work in East Africa. We want to be able to share the benefits of our lodge with others and hope you enjoy it and the surrounding area as much as we do.

Don't hesitate book it!

  • 5 of 5

I booked the lodge only 4 days in advance and how lucky was I? So clean, warm and comfortable. I have never seen such a well equipped kitchen in a holiday home. Everything was just perfect even the weather didn't disappoint. The site is very well managed and attractive with enough space for dogs and children. I can recommend The Victoria Inn in Salcombe but you must book and The Boat House in Torcross, previously The Crowing Cock. The Tradesmans at Stokenham and The Cricket Inn at Beesands are also very much worth a visit.

Anyway a return visit to Lodge 6 is on the cards in the not too distant future, a real home from home.

Well equipped and comfortable in a gorgeous spot....soar mill cove is a delight

Some previous guests at Salcombe Retreat made comments about a weak WiFi signal....ignore these...if you are looking for a restful and quiet getaway then the status of the WiFi is mute! Really enjoyed ourselves...highly recommend

Very tasteful and lovely position

  • 5 of 5

The lodge is in a beautiful location and is very well appointed, comfortable and tasteful. It has everything you could possibly need. The surrounding areas of Hope Cove and Salcombe are lovely and there are coastal walks to both, with great pubs at the end for refreshments! There is also a 4 star hotel less than a mile away that serves great Devonshire scones with clotted cream! Highly recommended to anyone wanting to get away from the stresses of every day life

Very luxurious & well equipped

  • 4 of 5

We had a great 5 night break at this gorgeous lodge over Easter. The lodge is very well equipped and comfortable. Despite us being on the receiving end of storm Katie during our stay we were very warm and cosy! There are some great walks from the lodge across the cliffs and coastal paths and you can walk into Salcombe in around an hour. Our chocolate Labrador Barney loved it! We'll definitely be back!

Location

From the Owner

We love Salcombe having had holidays in the area almost every year for the past 27 years. We have always wanted a holiday home in the area and when we retired it was possible for our dream to come true. The peace and tranquillity of the area around Soar, along with the closeness to Soar Mill Cove and the many beautiful coastal walks made the lodge the ideal position. It is also in close proximity to so many beautiful places in the South Hams, so there is always something to do what ever the weather.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The South Hams coastline boasts some of the best beaches in the UK. To mention a few, Soar Mill Cove is just over 0.5 miles away, Hope Cove is around 3 miles, Salcombe 4 miles, Bantham Beach aound 7.5 miles and Bigbury-on-Sea 9 miles.

Travel:

There are good transport links, with Exeter Airport about an hour away, intercity train links from London Paddington to Totnes (about 30 mins away). The A38 Devon Expressway (which links Plymouth and Exeter to the M5) is approximately 30 mins away via country lanes.

Distances:

Malborough, the closest village with a supermarket, is 1.5 miles by car or a 1 mile cross country walk. Salcombe is 4 miles away and has a range of boutique style shops, great pubs and restaurants. The local town of Kingsbridge is 8 miles away and has two large supermarkets and a range of shops and restaurants.

Facilities

From the Owner

Having spent a number of breaks in different holiday homes we have come to realise what makes a holiday home special and have tried to include these in our lodge so that your holiday will be as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The lodge is only 1.5 ml from Marlborough where there is a Coop shop and garage which sells freshly cooked bread and croissants. There are 2 good supermarkets in Kingsbridge and a great variety of good pubs/ restaurants and cafes close by.
