About Martin Jezzard

Heather and I live in Warwickshire with our two grown-up daughters and assorted much loved pets. We bought our present house around seven years ago and have spent much of the time since restoring the property, and latterly the dilapidated outbuildings.

Why Martin Jezzard chose Stratford-Upon-Avon area

We love Priors Marston and the surrounding area. It's quiet and rural, with lovely walks, whilst excellent shops and places to visit are within easy reach.

What makes this cottage unique

We restored the outbuildings at our property to provide the sort of accommodation we look for when we go away on holiday. A peaceful place from which to enjoy a lovely part of the country.

An old map revealed that the building had once been a Smithy - hence its name!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Many thanks for a lovely week in your cottage. Delightful. KP&D 07/13.

It was everything we could have wished for. The property could not be faulted. It is comfortably furnished, has all modern facilities and has a nice private seated patio area and a BBQ and for those rainy evenings there is a modern 42" flat screen TV and a large selection of DVD's, books and games. The village pub is a very short stroll away and the food is good, as are the cask ales.

we have already recommended to family and friends. SL&C 07/13

It was a lovely cottage and from the moment we walked in the door we knew we were going to be happy and comfortable there. There is a nice area with the property for sitting outside which is completely private which will be lovely in the summer. We would recommend. D & R 05/13

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Facilities 1st rate and an excellent base for visiting the surrounding countryside. We will definitely be back. B&J, Scotland. 04/13

Fantastic cottage for a great long weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

Really great cottage, comfortable, stylist, spacious (and great CD collection for any muso's oug there!) There we four of us and a dog, and we had plenty of space. Great base for exploring the countryside, with a few decent pub walks - would recomend The Folly on the canal at Napton on the Hill.

Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside

  • 4 of 5

Thank you for the welcoming cake wine and milk. Much appreciated. Been to many cottages but there was everything you needed without dashing out as something missing. Never seen such a large CD collection. Cottage was very clean and comfortable,

Second stay at the Old Smithy

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this stay both times we have stayed there. The Hollybush Pub right next door was convenient and lovely. Martin and Heather do a terrific job at making us feel welcome. Very much look forward to our return.

Cliff and Jeans' stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week from August 26th . We have always loved the area and the cottage was no exception . Very comfortable , very quiet village and had everything we needed , loved the cake and wine Martin /Heather left for us - only down side was the small en suite shower room .

We used the cottage as a base to explore as much as possible . Loved Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and the Harry Potter studios . Locally Broughton Castle and Chastleton House is a must ..

Be more than happy to come back again some time ..

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you found the en-suite a bit small. I think you were particularly commenting on the small sink - I've been in touch with my plumber to see if we can fit a slightly larger one. You'd be most welcome back.

Perfect for our 3 generation holiday and the four legged friend

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation was spacious and had everything we wanted (apart from a measuring jug!). Fabulous location for visits to Leamington (wonderful town park), Stratford (dog allowed to visit most Shakespear sites), Hatton locks, Shires shopping village, Daventry country park and Kennilworth castle. Enjoyed a meal at the local pub but our favourite was the Folly where we we were entertained the landlord and his magic as well as great food and atmosphere.
