About the Owner

Heather and I live in Warwickshire with our two grown-up daughters and assorted much loved pets. We bought our present house around seven years ago and have spent much of the time since restoring the property, and latterly the dilapidated outbuildings.

Many thanks for a lovely week in your cottage. Delightful. KP&D 07/13.

It was everything we could have wished for. The property could not be faulted. It is comfortably furnished, has all modern facilities and has a nice private seated patio area and a BBQ and for those rainy evenings there is a modern 42" flat screen TV and a large selection of DVD's, books and games. The village pub is a very short stroll away and the food is good, as are the cask ales.

we have already recommended to family and friends. SL&C 07/13

It was a lovely cottage and from the moment we walked in the door we knew we were going to be happy and comfortable there. There is a nice area with the property for sitting outside which is completely private which will be lovely in the summer. We would recommend. D & R 05/13

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Facilities 1st rate and an excellent base for visiting the surrounding countryside. We will definitely be back. B&J, Scotland. 04/13

Just wish we had more time to spend here! The Owners are wonderful, helpful and very respectful of your privacy. Yet would have enjoyed more time with them! The special touches really are nice. Flowers, baked treats, condiments..etc. and everything smells and is, clean and fresh. Will be back.

Well situated and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Very warm welcome on arrival from Martin, who kindly showed us around property and explained about wood burner, heating etc. We were very comfortable and very much enjoyed the well stock shelves with CDs, Books and DVDs. The rooms were a good size and the beds very cosy. The en-suite was a little small for my Dad to use as he is a big guy with mobility difficulties so tended to use main bathroom which was adequate. The Holly Bush public house is around the corner and the garden backs on to this. The only noise we experienced was on the first saturday night and this was due to a wedding - otherwise you wouldn't have known it was there. They do a great Sunday lunch. The property is ideally situated to visit the Cotswolds, Warwick, Rugby, and Leamington Spa - all definitely worth a visit. We visited the British Motor Museum (9 miles) and this was so very interesting and very accessible for people with wheelchairs or mobility scooters. The National Herb Centre - great cafe with lovely cakes, easily accessible - they even had a wheelchair that we were able to use. Other places visited for food was the Skylark at Staverton (Farm shop with tea rooms 4 miles away) and Hilltop Farm Shop and Cafe on the Fosse way - about a 20 minute drive away - fabulous food and great service. There is some fantastic countryside all around this place and some great walks. Definitely recommend this property.

The owners have thought of everything

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. The attention to detail is amazing. Then owner greets you on arrival with wine and cake. There are fresh flowers in the lounge and dining area. Coffee pods for the coffee machine. Washing liquid for the washing machine dishwasher tablets and milk in the fridge. There are even dog beds for your fury friend. The garden is dog proof and there is a lovely sofa outside. A very small down side is the pub car park at the back of the garden this can on occasions be a little noisy. But it certainly didn't disrupt our stay. The beds are very comfortable and the shower in the en suite is the most powerful shower I have used in a long time The cottage is well placed for visiting the local area and the lovely villages of the Cotswolds are close by. Leamington Spa is about 20 minutes away and has a large shopping centre with a mix of high street and independent shops - Try Aubrey and Allen the butchers - lovely welcome and dog friendly. Looking forward to returning to the cottage in the near future.

Strongly recommend!!!

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is well situated for visits to Stratford-Upon-Avon, and many National Trust properties. Park and ride strongly recommended for Stratford. Perfect garden setting for dogs. Comfortable settee, chairs and all equipment necessary for holiday to go smoothly. Five minutes in car and found beautiful canal walk. Owners have the most vast range of DVDs and CD, probably over 1000, which was brilliant spending a rainy afternoon with tea and cake. Just across the quietest roads in the village, is a brilliant open field to let the dogs have a good run. The village itself is picture perfect and free from traffic.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in and Priors Marston is lovely. Martin and Heather were welcoming (especially with delicious cake) and nothing was too much trouble. Loved playing the CDs in the evening and televisions in bedrooms were great for mother-in-law wanting a quiet five minutes to wind down after a day out. Holiday has definitely got us thinking about narrow boat holiday and stopping off in Priors Marston in the future. Barn door was great for keeping dogs in and letting fresh air in!!

The Old Smithy in the centre of the village.

The property worked well for us being all on one level as two of our party have mobility problems. The house was well equiped, spacious and comfortable. Both Martin and Heather were on hand for advice and information about the locality and were welcoming and enormously helpful.

Stunning cottage with great facilities including an impressive CD collection!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted somewhere quiet to relax and as a base from which to explore the area. Most definitely not disappointed, the cottage is beautiful, felt like home from home. The lemon drizzle cake and wine waiting for us were very gratefully received, the drizzle cake! the best ever tasted! Will definitely be back for another stay, we are already looking at dates for weekends this year. Martin and Heather are great people, helpful and incredibly welcoming, as well as discreet and respectful of our privacy. This holiday let is an absolute gem hidden away in a beautiful part of the country, quiet and relaxing and can definitely recommend the pub round the corner, The Hollybush Inn. Great beer and lovely food. We can't wait to come back.

Facilities

From the Owner

We restored the outbuildings at our property to provide the sort of accommodation we look for when we go away on holiday. A peaceful place from which to enjoy a lovely part of the country. An old map revealed that the building had once been a Smithy - hence its name!
