Cottage in Mappleton, Nr. Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England - Village Location With Walks From The Doorstep, And Five Minutes Drive To The Amenities Of Ashbourne

Well equipped, character country cottage with beams, with polished floors and log burner, set in a quiet village with local pub. Free wiifi. Lovely garden with hill views, lawns and patio with garden furniture. This is a great area for walking and cycling from the doorstep and ideal location for exploring the peak district with Ilam and Dovedale within walking distance. The Tissington trail is close by and the bike hire centre is at the edge of the village. It's a short drive or 20 minute walk into Ashbourne Georgian market town. There is off road parking in the drive for up to 3 cars. Pet accepted by arrangement.

Alan and Judy have owned Hawthorn Cottage for almost 20 years, and take care to constantly improve and update the fixtures and contents. We love this area, and spend much time exploring and walking in the Peak District. We offer a personal booking service , and are always ready to offer help with planning your holiday.

Why Judy Lawrence chose Staffordshire

The cottage has been described as a "home from home" by many guests and is well equipped and comfortable. We have preserved the original features such as original fireplace, stripped beams and polished wood and slate floors. The garden is a delightful peaceful place to sit, with views of the hills, and you can walk to Dovedale or Ashbourne from here, or just stroll along the footpaths by the river.

What makes this cottage unique

Hawthorn Cottage is just over 1 mile from the lovely Georgian market town of Ashbourne with its many facilities. This is a great location for touring the Peak District, visiting many scenic areas, stately homes such as Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and Sudbury, and opportunities for trips to Alton towers and trying watersports at Carsington reservoir. The Tissington trail and bike hire centre is also at the edge of the village.

Outside: The cottage has a large garden to the rear, with patio and garden furniture. There is parking for up to 3 cars in the drive. There is also a garden w.c. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned and made ready for your arrival. Bed linen and tea towels are included but please bring your own towels. Other: Dining room with old pine furniture, table with seating for six, small freezer.

Lovely Cottage in a great location

Homely, comfortable cottage in a great location for walking and cycling. Walks and cycle rides right from the doorstep, the wonderful Tissington trail just down the road. Lovely secluded back garden with great views. Pub next door for reasonably priced food, but not too close to the Cottage to be a nuisance!

Free Wi Fi which is a bonus and a place to safely lock up your cycles.

Perfect country cottage

Hawthorn cottage is a perfect country getaway within beautiful Derbyshire. Well equipped, clean and well maintained, the cottage itself is very cosy with a relaxing atmosphere. It's a wonderful destination for all seasons and keen walkers will find many walks from the door. Close to attractions like Dovedale and the pretty market town of Ashbourne, it has something for everyone, especially those who enjoy the amazing countryside on offer. We love it!

Car: recommended

Travel:

A car is recommended as the village is 1.5 miles from Ashbourne, but there is a bus service into Ashbourne or Buxton from the village.

Distances:

Driving times are - 5 minutes to Ashbourne and the Tissington Trail bike hire. 20 minutes drive to Dovedale. 15 minutes to Carsington reservoir with water sports. Approximately 30 minutes to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall or Kedleston Hall. Local horse riding at Tissington and Beaver Hall.

Further Details:

Nearby Ashbourne has shopping facilities, a market, restaurants, bars, pubs and leisure centre plus an children’s indoor play area. Alton towers is 20 minutes. Within 30 minutes drive there is Crich Tramway centre, Gullivers Kingdom, Matlock Bath, Bakewell and the Potteries.
