Hunters Lodge - detached luxury house with exclusive pool

Updated: 16-Sep-2016
Private & peaceful, mountain views, 5 mins drive to old town with all amenities

Hunters Lodge is a beautifully furnished, one bedroom, detached luxury house, with a small exclusive pool and pool house and a substantial deck. The property is easily accessible via a white (stony) road and in a private setting. Surrounded only by green with mountain views, peaceful and secluded but not isolated. It's rare to find independent properties just for two without having to share a garden and swimming pool. Hunters Lodge is elegant, spacious and unique and no expense has been spared.

5 minutes drive to an historic old town with all amenities and only 15 minutes away by car from the bustling towns of Sarnano and San Ginesio with markets and restaurants. 45 minutes to the nearest beach and 25 minutes to the mountains.

We, the owners, occupy the first and second floors of Villa Antonio adjacent to Hunters Lodge and share the car park so we are available if you require any help or advice but we do everything to ensure that your privacy is respected at all times. The ground floor of Villa Antonio is also a holiday apartment with an exclusive pool and garden. The gardens surrounding the house and apartment are separated, and screened and fenced to ensure privacy.

Details for holiday cottage Hunters Lodge, detached house with exclusive pool., 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, 1 Bathroom, 1 Separate WC

A wonderful, spacious detached house finished to an impeccably high standard. Modern, clean and open plan, uncluttered and teeming with light. It has an 'old chapel' quality about it because of the exceptional height of the open roof internally with exposed 'A' frames and beams. A large loggia to the rear provides shade most of the day and sun in the morning; a perfect place to breakfast. The exclusive pool is small, only 4m x 6m surrounded by a hardwood deck. It faces onto a secluded stone pool house with low seating all round. No better place to watch the swallows dipping into the pool at dusk. The garden is screened and fenced to afford the best privacy.

About the Owner

We have lived here in Gualdo since 2004. Ken is a builder and so we embarked on a huge restructuring project and we consider ourselves very lucky to have discovered a little piece of paradise in the area. We have turned an old block garage into a contemporary, luxury home and we are well on the way to turning the grand house into something befitting its stature. We have become accustomed to the peace and the privacy and the wildlife that shares our garden. Deer are common and so are the wild boar who come to plough up our field with their snouts and devastate the vegetable plots and the little fox cub who steals shoes left out under the loggia at night. If this is the only crime that happens in our neighbourhood then we are very happy with that.

Best Holiday accommodation we have ever found!

  • 5 of 5

Immaculate, characterful, pretty house with everything you could wish for. The house, garden and pool was fabulous and we were very well looked after by Lynne and Ken. There could not have been a better equipped kitchen and the welcome pack of provisions was thoughtful. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation.

Bliss, as always!

Here we are on our third visit to Hunters Lodge! This trip we have visited the impressive Frasassi Caves, walked at Lago di Fiastra and near Bolognola and been to Ancona among many other trips. Most of all we have enjoyed relaxing days here, sunbathing by the pool and bbqing in the evening. We have also seen an abundance of wildlife, wild boar, deer, foxes, baby owls and a badger on the road at night and one tiny but very noisy frog/toad by the pool. Thanks again to Lynne and Ken for creating a lovely place to stay. Another wonderful holiday! J&B

We've been to Marche many times but have now found the perfect place to stay - rural location with very high standard accommodation. A thoroughly enjoyable fortnight recharging the batteries - shame we didn't see any boar but the little holes in the garden and the chewed roots meant that it was our fault and not theirs! Thank you Lynne and Ken for being perfect hosts. Would highly recommend and have already booked for next year. Keith and Sally

Just bliss

Dear Lynne and Ken, another brilliant holiday, thank you so much. Yours is the perfect place to relax, read, watch for signs of wildlife on the hillside and generally recharge our batteries. Seeing the wild boar nearly nightly was an extra treat! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality again,

Sarah and Colin

Amazingly relaxing

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to spend our holiday. We are planning our next trip in 2016. Amazing weather, beautiful countryside, fabulous house- what more can we say? Lots of Bee-eaters which delighted Andrew. Deer, foxes, porcupine and wild boar all seen within walking distance. San Ginesio restaurants are worth a visit. Roman ruins and near Urbisaglia and the nature reserve and monastery at Abbadia di Fiastra were absolute serenity.

Please look out for the sunbathing terrier in middle of the road on your way out of Gualdo

You have made us very welcome. We love it here and understand why you left the UK for such a lovely home here. Thank you so much for everything.

Owner's Response: Thank you Gina and Andrew. Andrew, I think you are our first true bird watcher and since you mentioned the 'bee-eater' I've been watching out for them and it has spurred me on to research them online. Still don't know what the tall, slim, gingery brown bird is that I saw end of summer; will keep checking. Hope to see you both again soon.

Absolutely Magical

  • 5 of 5

From the welcoming jug of lavander and roses, to the bottle of fizz and chocolate in the fridge - just as soon as we arrived at Hunters Lodge we knew we were in for a treat!! The house is finished with such style and luxury, there is not a thing we would change. This really is as good as it gets, simply fabulous! Peace and tranquillity abounds... it's amazing how snooze inducing birdsong and the toll of distant bells can be. We have relaxed and leave here ready to return to the fray...well reluctantly ready; we will be regulars here methinks!!!! Oh, and Marche was pretty amazing too! Thank you Lynne and Ken for being such kind and gracious hosts. Arthur and Betty.

From the Owner

We fell upon this property by chance but it had everything we were looking for: restructuring/renovation projects, a peaceful location, views of the mountains, green views all round and no other properties close by and it has not disappointed us. The house is situated on a white (stony) road which is well maintained by the local council and is easily accessible. White roads drop off the sides of the main roads and wind their way down to sparsely populated, secluded areas sometimes with only one property at the end, so most properties that sit on white roads are nestled well into the countryside. Gualdo is part of the 'golden' triangle with two ancient towns, San Ginesio and Sarnano only 15 minutes away by car.

There are beaches at Civitanova Marche, Lido di Fermo, Porto San Giorgio all within 45 minutes drive. Plenty of others line the coast line, some more suited to the young and other typical family beaches. The thing to do is try them all until you find the one that suits you best. Usually busy during July and August but great for the kids with play parks and games areas. The sand here is wonderful. Food available all along the coast.

Gualdo, only 3 minutes away by car and San Ginesio and Sarnano only 10-15 minutes away by car, are all beautiful medieval hilltop towns. Sarnano is the most popular, bustling with shops and coffee bars - a great meeting place. All have a market day (mornings only) with something different to offer. Macerata, famous for its opera festival is 30 minutes away by car. The Sibillini mountains are only 25 minutes away by car.

Further Details:

Gualdo has a bank, bakery, pharmacy, butcher, filling station, greengrocers, two bars and mini supermarkets. Gualdo also has a tennis court. Da Cicco' in Gualdo is a restaurant open for lunches and dinner and serves wonderful, typical Italian food - limited menu but inexpensive. San Ginesio has much the same but Sarnano offers a greater choice of restaurants and shops. Marche Voyager is the best website for discovering where to go and what to see in Le Marche.

From the Owner

The house offers tranquillity something rarely found in some of the best holiday resorts but so that you do not feel entirely cut off from the world we have a telephone, TV with English programmes and radio and WiFi. It is only 1 mile outside Gualdo old town with all amenities but close enough to the mountains (25 mins by car) for the nature lovers and close enough to beaches (45 mins by car) so that you don't have to travel far for a change of scenery. There is so much to see and do in Le Marche for the adventurers, 'Marche Voyager' is the best website for information.
