About the Owner

We live in the South of England with our daughter and our Beagle, Yahoo. We lead busy lives and seem to spend more and more time on holiday in France so it made sense to buy a property there as a bolt hole. We love it and would like to share the experience.

The property was clean and provided us with a very convenient base to explore and visit the area

Our stay was happy and the property is very conveniently positioned to visit all the wonderful sites and views, especially the Nantes-Brest canal. The house was clean, with a pretty garden, adequate space and very comfortable. It is well-maintained and, overall, we had a very happy 3-week stay/rest there.

Location

From the Owner

Like most people we are interested in a special place in a quiet village somewhere to take a few friends and to get away from the daily rush and spend quality time taking long walks, good food and recharging the batteries? We wanted a spacious and peaceful Stone House with an enclosed garden ideal for kids or w few friends - a perfect size for family barbeques and garden games. We found this property in a village setting situated in a small village and within short walking distance from the picturesque Nantes Brest Canal. This 100 year old, large spacious stone house comfortably caters for up to 8 people. The house has two double bedrooms, one small double room and a large ground floor room with double bunk, sofa bed, tv and games. The nearby Nantes to Brest Canal is a haven for bird watching including kingfishers, herons and waterfowl with many picnic spots along the towpath. We often go to Gouarec, the neighbouring village a mere 3 minutes drive away for a night out with the locals including a choice of an excellent pizzaria or creperie for lunches and suppers. The nearby Rostrenen watersport centre organises half day or full day canoe hire and trips by appointment on the Nantes Brest Canal. Lake Guerledan is within 8 miles and has a variety of watersports and a beach to enjoy such as canoe and kayak centre, fishing, boat trips, man made beaches and many walking trails. L'Abbaye de bon Repos is just a short drive away where visitors can explore the old abbey and the grounds. During the summer there is a traditional market on Sundays. Beaches are approximately 1 hour drive away and exploring the whole of Brittany is easy from this location. Whether you choose walking, cycling, site seeing, fishing or nature watching the local area has plenty to interest visitors.
