Apartments in Praia da Luz, Algarve, Portugal - Situated On Quiet Urbanisation And About 20 Minutes Walk To The Beach In Luz

This apartment has two patios with superb views. One south facing over the sea, the other, faces west over the swimming pool with the hills beyond. A seperate kitchen is well equipped with fridge /freezer, microwave, oven and four plate hob. Cable TV is provided with a good selection of international channels. WiFi available.

The 15m pool is owned by Lubelia's Restaurant and you are welcome to use it anytime except Sunday. An excellent range of food and beverages are available.

The nearest beach is a 20 minute walk into Luz village.

For winter breaks, a log burner is provided, and for hot weather there is air-conditioning.

About Linda & Chris Bolton

We are a retired couple who moved to Portugal two years ago. Linda was in the teaching profession and Chris was an Airline Pilot.

Before moving to Portugal, we ran a gite in France, so we have experience of the holiday business.

Why Linda & Chris Bolton chose Lagos region

We chose Praia da Luz after looking around the Algarve for more than a year.

The Eastern Algarve seemed over-developed with a bit of a feel of the Spanish "Costas". Here in the west, planning has been properly thought out and controlled, and for us has a much more comfortable feel.

What makes this apartment unique

About 50 minutes from Faro Airport using the excellent A22 motorway, the location has the best of both worlds in being away from the hurly-burly of the east, and having easy access to shopping centres such as Portimao and Guia.

The original charm of Lagos, Praia da Luz and Sagres have been retained, whilst providing a large selection of bars and restaurants to appeal to all tastes.

The west coast has world class surf and is easily reached from our property.

Only five minutes inland from here, you are in the peace and tranquillity of the raw countryside.

Coast/Beach:

Our nearest beach is here in Praia da Luz and is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The whole coastline has excellent beaches. We recommend Zovial, Ingria and Martinhal as having good restaurants and very clean sands. Each is about 15 minutes drive away.

The west coast is about 15 miles away and is very good for surfing.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Faro about 55 minutes drive to the east of us on the excellent A22 motorway.

A car is desirable, but by no means essential, as there is a huge choice of bars and restaurants locally. It is worth pointing out that taxis are cheap here. As an example, Lagos is about €12 each way.

Praia da Luz has two supermarkets, a pharmacy, two medical practices, a dental practice and numerous small shops.

In addition, there are over 30 restaurants and bars including two Indian and two Chinese, and one Mexican restaurant.

With a beautiful sweeping beach, there are many water activities to choose from.

Pleasure flights are available in light aircraft. Chris is a fully licensed ex-Navy commercial pilot. Outside: The apartments are part of a small estate on a quiet cul-de-sac. The shared swimming pool is about 15m X 8m within a walled enclosure. It has toilet and changing facilities.

Awesome apartment let down by pool area

This is a great location in the western Algarve, within easy drives of Lagos, Martinhal and the west coast beaches. A nice and quiet suburb but a comfortable 25 minute walk into Luz centre. Very nice apartment with decent sized rooms especially the living and dining area. Everything you need you'll find in the modern fitted kitchen. Bathroom has 2 good showers. There are two fantastic LARGE balconies one with a sea view, one with a countryside view. In daylight hours you can choose sun or shade between the 2 balconies which is a wonderful bonus!

The only let down in an otherwise fabulous apartment is that there is only an A/C unit in the living room area so sleeping in the bedroom is impossible in high temperatures. We had to move to the living room to sleep a few times during our stay.

The pool is a nice extra to have and often you can have it to yourself, but is in real need of refurbishment. There were broken tiles, uncomfortable, unwashed sun loungers and bare bulbs hanging out of the walls around the pool. There was also no electricity in the toilets at the pool so you either go in the dark or leave the door half open which was a bit disappointing.

If these things were rectified this would be a 5 out of 5 review no question and we did still have a great holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your constructive comments. In response, in the last four years, we have received no comments concerning the air conditioning. The apartment is compact and the aircon unit normally cools the whole area. It is worth pointing out that your holiday period coincided with exceptionally high temperatures. The swimming pool is separately managed by the restaurant company and we will, as a matter of urgency, discuss the above issues with them. We're pleased that your holiday wasn't marred by the above concerns and hope you will come to Brancazul again.
