Two bed apartment with amazing views in the heart of St Ives with parking.

Terrazzo is situated at 22 The Terrace in St Ives. The Terrace is sought after for its location having some of the best views in St Ives yet also being in the heart of the town. In March 2015 Terrazzo and Figgy Cottage (also advertised on OD) were highly recommended in The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

Terrazzo faces the sea, has two bedrooms (and two bathrooms) and has stupendous views over the bay and Porthminster Beach. Many, many people over the years have left a note in the visitors' book to say they are the best views they have ever seen.

Just a short walk from the house in one direction will take you to the beach where you can have bacon butties for breakfast, or - if you're splashing out - lunch or dinner at the amazing Porthminster Beach Cafe which is a little further along the beach. A short walk from the house in the other direction and you're down by the harbour and in the bustle of the town. Further along again (about 15 minutes walk from the property) is the locals' favourite - the small but perfectly formed Porthgwidden beach and the larger, surfing beach - Porthmeor. St Ives is renowned for its incredible atmosphere: the art galleries (including The Tate Gallery), the cobbled streets, the quirky shops, great bars and award winning restaurants.

Terrazzo has two bedrooms with stunning views over the bay and Porthminster Beach from both the master bedroom (which is en-suite) and the sitting room. The apartment is over 2 floors - the first and second floors of a magnificent grade 2 listed Georgian house. On the lower floor there is a kitchen (with oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and fridge), a sitting room with ample seats for 5 people and the main bathroom. Upstairs are the two bedrooms and an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom.

iPod docks and televisions in both bedrooms.

Free wifi and private parking for one medium sized car is included in the tariff. Parking is at the back of what was the long garden to the house.

Terrazzo is on the 1st and 2nd floors of this lovely Georgian house. First floor: kitchen with oven, hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine/dryer. Large farmhouse table and chairs. The sitting room has 2 large sofas, rocking chair, 32" flat screen TV, DVD player and amazing beach and sea views. Family bathroom with bath and shower over, loo, sink.

Upstairs there are 2 spacious bedrooms: bedroom 1 has king-size bed, flat screen TV, digital radio/MP3 player, wardrobe, chest, rocking chair, en-suite shower room, absolutely stunning views over Porthminster Beach. Bedroom 2 has twin beds, a flat screen TV, digital radio/MP3 player, wardrobe and chest.

One parking space for a medium sized car, wifi, linen and towels are included in the tariff.

Terrazzo is perfect for a family or a couple wanting a great location and who want to walk into their holiday home and say, ‘wow’ when they see the view. The photos don’t do it justice!

This is a wonderful property in a delightful town, conveniently located near the train station and the bus station, overlooking the beach and an easy walk to the harbor and shops and restaurants.

Great accommodation, ideal location

Terrazzo is everything the previous reviews have referred to.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and is just a few minutes walk away from the centre of town and harbour area.

All furnishings are of a high quality and the kitchen is particularly well kitted out.

The major down side, and the reason why Terrazzo only gets 3/5, is the main road outside.

It's busy, and very very very noisey, to the extent that you can't hear people speak when in the same room when larger vehicles and buses pass by.

Clearly being an older listed? building, the windows are single glazed which only adds to the disturbance.

It's a real shame as everything else, including the stunning views, is spot on.

Nice property with all facilities but it is on the road and the booking experience was horrendous

The listing description has now been changed but when I booked it read that it slept 5 and a dog was permitted. Although we had just planned for our family of 4 plus dog to come we knew in the back of our minds that my mother in law was very down and we may invite her along nearer the time. We did this and she was delighted so I contacted Caitlin straight away to let her know. She would not accept 5 and a dog. Only 4 plus a dog or 5 with no dog. I tried to compromise and said how about if we didn't use the kitchen as we planned to eat out, and in addition if we departed early. She was only rude and in response mentioned breach of contract....when we were just asking questions. So at distress and extra cost to us we found kennels for our dog. We also had to pay extra for the 5th person to Caitlin!!!!

John the new owner was far more pleasant to deal with but unfortunately just agreed with everything that Caitlin had said.

The ironic thing was, that there was no meet and greet and no contact at all from the owners once we were in St Ives so we should have just top and tailed our girls!!! The only correspondence I had in resort was a couple of texts reminding us to put the bins out. They did leave us some milk and 5 scones on arrival which was a nice touch though.

The apartment was very nice and well equipped but sadly situated on a fairly busy road. There is no outdoor area at all. The views are magnificent so if you are a heavy sleeper you probably wouldn't worry about road noise.

Other than improving customer service skills HUGELY, the one thing that could be looked at is the water supply. As soon as the downstairs bath/shower is in use the person in the upstairs shower gets left with a drizzle.

I will be back to St Ives but not to this property and not any other managed by the same people. I would not recommend it at all. 4* for apartment, 0* for customer service so 2* over all.

Owner's Response: Having asked for a discount based on 4 people staying I was somewhat taken aback to be informed by you just a few days before your holiday that a 5th person would be staying and that you had already bought their plane ticket. You also told me you intended parking a 9 seater minibus in the parking space, with no consideration as to how this might impact other guests. It is surely just basic good manners to ask first. You would have found both John and me much more easy going and accommodating if you yourself had behaved in a more pleasant and less presumptuous manner. I agree it was a horrible booking experience and I am just thankful that nearly all my other guests over the past 16 years have been lovely and polite.

Excellent position. Beautiful views. Parking space. Clean property with all amenities close to hand.

We have a few reservations about the property. The double bed has an uncomfortably soft mattress, the kitchen chairs are rickety and the fridge ice box was frozen solid. The furnishings in the lounge need updating. The issue with the bed would prevent us from returning or recommending the property to anyone else. Please let us know when they are resolved. These comments are not a moan, they are intended to be constructive.

Owner's Response: I think this is the first review of dozens in the 16 years I've owned Terrazzo that it has received less than 5 stars! I think 3 stars is perhaps a little mean, Alasdair, given your complaints (not mentioned when we spoke on the phone, and I asked you if everything was ok) are about a mattress, an ice box and some chairs. Terrazzo is nearly always fully booked, year round, with many returning guests and no one has commented on the mattress before. However it's always good to have feedback and some of the furniture will I'm sure be upgraded very soon when the new owner takes over.

Lovely terraced cottage

We all loved this very cute terraced stone cottage, really nicely done up by the owner, wooden floors, white paint, all the amenities including lovely hot en suite shower in the main room. Best thing is the view of the sea from the bedroom and the sitting room. My favourite pastime was getting up and doing the steep walk down to the beach (road to cross but that's small price to pay for a great location), it's practically deserted first thing and wonderful to stroll along, then ordering coffee and bacon sandwiches at the beach shack for the family to join me. St Ives a lovely town with great restaurants. We had a fantastic week, highly recommended.

Location

From the Owner

The views! And the location generally. The photos just cannot ever do the views justice - everyone says so. And the house has such history. The Terrace used to house master mariners, dentists and surgeons etc. When I used to use the ground floor flat as a chiropractic clinic some of my more elderly patients remember the house when the ground floor were the servants' quarters.

No need for a car if you're staying at Terrazzo or The Cottage - everything St Ives has to offer is within walking distance.

Newquay airport is about a 45 minute drive away.

Newquay airport - 39 miles

Eden Project - 49 miles

St Michael's Mount - 8 miles

Falmouth - 26 miles

Further Details:

St Ives has many fabulous restaurants and bars and there is also of course the Tate Gallery amongst all the many other wonderful art galleries. These are all within walking distance of 22 st ives.

Being on The Terrace you are close walking distance from everything that matters in St Ives yet you don't have to drive through town to park the car (something lots of guests say they really appreciate because it can take hours to do so in high season).
