'Windermere Lodge' is a contemporary, pet friendly, detached Scandinavian style 3 bed/2 bath log cabin on the shores of Lake Windermere within the exclusive gated White Cross Bay and Marina complex, one of the most idyllic, scenic locations in the heart of the Lake District National Park.

White Cross Bay is a premier 4 star park situated on the shores of Lake Windermere. The panorama of the lake, surrounding fells and countryside is simply breathtaking. On Park facilities are unrivalled. Whatever your preferred leisure pastimes are at White Cross Bay there is enough choice to provide a full and relaxing holiday without even venturing off the park. A fabulous indoor heated swimming pool with adjoining sauna and gym are among the main features. For your outdoor entertainment the park offers a children's play and picnic area and charming woodland walks in the breathtaking countryside. An excellent a la-carte restaurant, cocktail bar and lounge bar with a full range of meals and fast food take away cater for your every need on site for when you unwind as the day draws to an end. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy one of the finest Marinas in the area at White Cross Bay and offers one of the best boat launching facilities on Lake Windermere

The lodge can comfortably sleep 6 and is the perfect getaway for families or group of friends. Exclusive to our own private guests we offer free membership to a new luxury health club and spa just 5 minutes from the Park.

The spacious open plan living area with vaulted ceiling offers light and airy contemporary accommodation. There's a modern well equipped kitchen, dining area, comfortable lounge with leather sofas that opens onto the wrap round deck.

Located in a quiet part of the Park but within a short stroll of the on-site facilities including indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and gym ( small extra charge ) this beautiful lodge is only a 5 minute walk to the Lake Windermere. With stunning views across the lake to the distant Langdale Pikes this is the perfect spot for a morning stroll with the dog, a family picnic or just to sit and watch the sun go down. There are plenty of on-site facilities for the whole family in addition to the pool, sauna and gym there is a children's outdoor play centre and multi-use games court.

Within the main clubhouse complex ( only 3 minutes' walk from the lodge ) you can find a restaurant and bar with live entertainment in the summer months as well as convenience store and laundry.

This stylish log cabin has 3 bedrooms, master bedroom with large en suite, walk in shower and king size bed, two twin rooms plus further family bathroom with full size bath and shower. One of the twin rooms can be made into a double on request. The lodge is centrally heated, double glazed and offers warm, cosy accommodation all year round. Located just a short drive to Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness boasting cosy pubs, shops and excellent restaurants. Sailing and water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the superb marina and boat launching facilities on Lake Windermere. Great walks and cycling ( road and mountain biking ) on the doorstep. We have arranged passes for all our guests at a brand new luxury health club only 5 minutes from the lodge, just down the road at Troutbeck near Windermere. Guests ( including children ) can enjoy unlimited free use of the indoor heated pool, gym, sauna, steam room and studio classes, spinning etc. The gym, the largest and best equipped in the Lakes, features the latest cardio equipment available today including personal TV screens. There is also coffee lounge area where guests can relax afterwards.

For families or larger groups who like to holiday together our 2 bed lodge next door offers combined accommodation for a total of 10 ( see property ref E5450 for photos/details )

About Tony Mole

I recently moved back to Cumbria after spending 8 years in the South of France where I set up and ran a property business. Before moving to France I was owner of a graphic design studio and worked for many national and international clients. Ex-rugby player and keen on all sports including skiing, mountain biking, rowing, walking I love the great outdoors so am lucky to have rental properties in both the south of France and the Lake District. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Had a great time at the lodge at white cross , it has everything you need,and very well presented , Tony was very helpful , I would love to go back this new year but for a longer stay , fingers crossed

Dirty ill managed

We took my terminally ill mother which the owner was aware of ,yet he still painted the place the day before!!!

Left us champagne to compensate !! We don't drink !

Falsely leading people it has a hot tub and most definitely over priced.

It has put us off using your company owners direct again.

Owner's Response: We always welcome positive feedback and constructive criticism but we took exception to this review of our lodge at White Cross Bay which is inaccurate in content. Use of inflammatory language such as ‘disgusting, careless and dirty’ does not reflect the facts of the situation and we are at a loss to understand why the guests have made this complaint 2 weeks after leaving the lodge. Firstly, if the guests had taken the time to read the description properly they would have known that the lodge is NOT advertised as having a private hot tub only that a jacuzzi and indoor pool form part of the on site facilities. When we pointed this out soon after their arrival we received the response ‘ OK we’re happy with that ‘ so why complain so bitterly later? Furthermore, one of the guests texted my cleaner thanking her for the champagne and said it was a nice surprise. The champagne was not presented to the guests as compensation for the lack of a hot tub which was entirely due to the guests not reading the property description properly. We refute the fact the lodge was dirty - our cleaners are very reliable and regularly receive 5 star reviews for the quality of their work, indeed on their own initiative they put a notice up in the lodge asking to be contacted immediately if guests are not 100% happy. The guests did not contact our cleaners so it is reasonable to assume they had no complaints about the cleaning during their stay. Regarding the new painting, we took the opportunity to redecorate the hallway ( only ) as the lodge was empty for a few days before the guests’ arrival, it was bright and fresh and we thought that it would have been appreciated. A further coat may have been necessary so the bottle of champagne was left for the guests in case it was noticeable but there was no complaint from the guests about the lack of a final coat of paint. My cleaner left a note to that effect. To state that the champagne was left as compensation for the guests’ mistaken belief that there was a hot tub at the property is nonsense. Indeed, there were no complaints made about the property at the time apart from the lack of a hot tub. Regarding the cost, we can only state that we know our prices are competitive for a 3 bed detached property on the shores of Lake Windermere. In addition, we provide all our guests with free membership of a private health club and spa.

Home from Home

We were delighted with our lodge it was so warm and comfortable. We were amazed at the size of the lodge as we had expected it to be similar in size to a caravan!!! Far from it, it was beautifully decorated and furnished and was so central to many places we didn't need to get the car out for several days. The amenities on site were also great and we made sure to go for a swim every day and also usedd the restaurant at the week-end.

Easy access via M6 motorway, railway station in Windermere (2 miles) A car is recommended to appreciate all that the beautiful Lake District has to offer.


Windermere and Bowness 2 miles, Ambleside 2 miles, close to all major attractions Beatrix Potter, Dove Cottage, many top class restaurants and pubs nearby.

Supermarkets, bank, petrol, local shops, pubs and restaurants at nearby Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. Facilities for water sports enthusiasts including boat launching are on-site, walks and mountain biking for all abilities on the doorstep.

We own another lodge (Brathay Lodge) a few yards away - perfect for larger groups or families! Discounts apply for renting both together.
