The Snohome is a French apartment in the heart of Saint Gervais Les Bains located within the former spa 'Grand Hotel'. The apartment has high ceilings, parquet floors and large shuttered doors leading onto a private balcony. The kitchen and bathroom have been upgraded for winter season 2013/14. The apartment offers amazing views of the surroundings and is perfectly positioned for access to both Evasion Mont Blanc and Les Houches resorts. The Snohome has a kitchen, a bathroom and an additional cloakroom with toilet, luxury bunk room which sleeps 4, a double bedroom and a large lounge/dining. The apartment is in the heart of the town with a 5 minutes walk to all the amenities.
In the early part of 2010 we collected together all of our pennies, converted them to euros and decided to buy the Snohome, a little bolt-hole in the French Alps. We are two architects based in London and have two little boys Charlie and Ollie.
claire barton purchased this apartment in 2010
As two architects based in London who are also avid snowboarders the Snohome has given us a perfect challenge to work on a building that has amazing features and charm while also enjoying our favourite pastime. We have filled the Snohome with our favourite furniture and are constantly looking at ways to add to the luxury. Saint Gervais is a hidden gem of a resort with access to amazing skiing In the winter and to our surprise an even busier programme of activities for the summer months.
*a two minute walk to the town centre so easy access to bars, restaurants and the all important morning patisserie run
*access to Evasion Mont Blanc and Les Houches
*easy access to amazing Les Contamines activity lake and beach for summer
*views of the Mont Blanc range from apartment and balcony

Located close to the centre of Saint Gervais Snohome is home from home, beautifully decorated with every facility you would ever need. Clare was incredibly friendly and quickly answered any quesiton we had. This is the second time we have skied in Saint Gervais as a family which is one of the quietr resorts but has a range of skiing available for every ability. The Snohome was the icing on the cake and made a brilliant hotel perfect.
We've used this apartment in the winter and for a summer weekend break. We have come to love St Gervais which is such an easy drive from Geneva and has all the facilities but none of the pretention of other ski towns nearby. The apartment is impeccably decorated but practical (our boys love the bunk beds) and well equipped. It's such an easy walk to town and the cable car; we'll definitely be back!
We have stayed here in winter (just a short walk through to the ski lift!) and liked it so much we came back for a summer break.
St Gervais itself is a beautiful spot, and you're not far from Chamonix, or a day trip to Lake Annecy for a summer boat ride in pure, glacier waters.
The apartment interior feels both luxurious and stylish, with perfect lighting and thoughtful touches such as black and peppermint tea for use by guests. Everything is clean, new and well considered. It would work equally well for a romantic couple break or a family holiday. And I wish I could start every day sitting on that balcony for morning croissants and coffee with a backdrop of Mt Blanc!
We've stayed at the SnoHome in winter and summer season. It's a fantastic apartment in a fantastic location.
Decor is stunning. Brand new fitted kitchen and bathroom on our last stay too - both are worthy of a glossy interiors magazine shoot! All the rooms are really spacious with high ceilings. The bunk room is not just for kids, the beds are huge so good for adults too. Floor to ceiling windows in each room so everywhere is really light. Views from the kitchen and balcony are fantastic, you can see right up to the glacier. Also - crucially - wifi is decent speed.
The SnoHome is about 5 mins walk from the village centre, which is handy for popping to la patisserie in the morning. When you head out for the day, the (free) bus stops right outside the building to take you to the Bettex Telecabine (for Saint Gervais/Megeve), or you can cross the road to the Tramway Month Blanc and get the train up to Les Houches. This is great to do at the start or end of a week if you have kids in ski-school in St Gervais but then have a day left over. Take some croissants and have your breakfast on the train ride. The scenery is beautiful.
We really love skiing in Saint Gervais because the range is huge. With an Evasion Month Blanc ski pass you can set off in the morning and ski all day without doing the same run twice. There's a great mix of runs for all abilities, and for boarders and skiers too. There's a snow park under the fast Mont Joux chair, and there is now a brand new apres-ski bar - La Folie Douce - at the top of that run too. They serve great food at lunchtime, and then at around 2.30 every day the apres-ski starts with live outdoor DJs, singers and dancers. And they're great with kids too. Our 6 year old daughter wanted to go back to 'the crazy party on top of the mountain' everyday!
Saint Gervais is a beautiful small town with a lovely community feel. Any excuse for a celebration brings the whole town out onto the streets! We watched the UltraTrail runners come through the village one September, and the atmosphere was fantastic, lots of ringing of cow bells and plenty of food and drink. There are some great restaurants and our absolute favourite is Le Galeta - steaks cooked on a open wood fire in the middle of the restaurant and the best chips in the world.
SnoHome is a fantastic apartment for families and couples. We've loved every stay there, and will definitely be back many more times.
