Farmhouse in Vesime, nr. Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy - Wonderful Views, Private Location, 10 Minutes Drive From Shops And Restaurants

Ca'di Liao is a beautifully restored stone farmhouse enjoying wonderful views over the vineyards of the Bormida valley in Langhe. It is ideal for long summer family breaks.

The main house has three bedrooms each with its own private bathroom. There is a wonderful and fully equipped kitchen and dining room. The first floor has a large living room with UK SKY TV (terrestrial channels but bring own card). The guesthouse offers privacy for a second family or relatives, and provides two further en suite bedrooms, with a shared balcony. The house offers room for ten guests with additional beds for small children. The gardens are large and include a private pool and large sunbathing area as well as a courtyard with an outdoor pergolato for outside dining, a pizza oven for those who want to try more authentic cooking.

The house is secluded without being remote. It is nestled on the hill near the hamlet of Bricco amongst the vineyards with the nearest village of Vesime being 5 minutes drive away, offering day-to day shopping and with a larger supermarket in Cortemelia within 15 minutes. So if you wish to stay and relax at home you have everything at your fingertips leaving you to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

It is situated in an area of outstanding beauty which has just been awarded the status as a UNESCO National Heritage Site, with wine, restaurants and beautiful villages guaranteeing a wonderful family holiday. This area is a favourite of walkers and cyclists as there are many fabulous trails including the spectacular famous Cinque Torre (5 towers). For those who want to explore, there are the nearby beautiful towns of Acqui Terme with its thermal baths, Alba the home of the truffle, or the cities of Asti and of course Turin and countless beautiful hill towns too numerous to name. Alternatively if cities aren't your thing, just over an hour down the motorway will get you to the Ligurian coast if you want to visit the beach. There is lots to do and also plenty of space and peace and quiet to just stay at home and relax.

We have owned this wonderful house since 2012, having stayed often with a friend who has a house in the next village. We have four children and live outside London near Heathrow. We come regularly for long weekends, and for a longer period in the summer.

The house was upgraded and rebuilt about 10 years ago by the Italian businessman we bought if from. He had restored it as a weekend house from Milan. It is very well appointed, with a well-equipped kitchen and wonderful fireplaces and floors. Most of all it is an excellent family house with room for 10 adults. We have enjoyed coming here with friends, and putting them up in the Guest House which is great. In the summer the courtyard and the pool area give the family hugh amounts of space to enjoy the sunshine.

Why Penel Meredith chose Asti

We bought the farmhouse in 2012 having visited the area on a number of occasions in recent years, staying with a English family who are old friends and live in the neighbouring village. It is a great part of the world to come to from London, with almost guaranteed good weather in the summer months.

The area is lovely, with endless views from the house, and wonderful medieval villages to be discovered. Alba is the main town for us with lots to do. We are about five minutes drive from Vesime, which provides most things, and the supermarkets are about 20 minutes away. The wine of Piemont and the restaurants are excellent value and quality. The nearby vineyards and village bistros are easy to access. There is horseriding, golf and canoeing all within 15 minutes drive.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house is a well-converted stone farmhouse, in two buildings. The main building has the kitchen, dining room and living room, with the master bedroom and two further ensuite bathrooms. The guesthouse is only 5 yards away, and has two further ensuite bedrooms. The huge advantage of this is that two families can feel sufficiently independent, whilst both using the same wonderful kitchen and dining room. The main terrace between the two houses is a perfect place for BBQ's and outdoor dining.

The grounds are terraced with the swimming pool on a lower level, keeping it slightly away from the house, and having the same wonderful views over the valley and vineyards.

There is easy parking, and a church about 200 years away. It is private without being isolated.

A lovely farmhouse, great kitchen, incredible views across the Langhe area, beautiful gardens and the swimming pool which was kept very clean on a weekly basis. We enjoyed the nearby villages and towns finding a friendly bar in San Stephano Belbo and a great ice cream cafe in Canelli. Alba is a lovely place to explore with pedestrianised streets in the centre - nice to sit there in the early evening to watch the 'passigiata'! Asti is equally interesting and has good train connections to Turin and Milan. If you love wine and Italian food this is the area for you.

Paradise found

The farm house, accommodation, location, views and friendly, hospitable people left us speechless. It is a beautiful place to stay and a short drive can get you to shops, quaint villages, beaches, mountains... and stunning views of the immediate area and of the magnificent Alps ... the Matterhorn included.

It is great for exploring out or for staying put and enjoying the atmosphere of the house,garden.pool and... hammock!

Changeover Day:
Arrival is on Saturday after 1600. Departure is on Saturday by 1000. For shorter periods in the winter these timings are negotiable.

Notes on accommodation: The house was restored and largely rebuilt about ten years ago and has been very well-equipped. The best bedrooms are the main bedroom in the farm house and the large bedroom in the guesthouse, but all are suitable for two adults. Outside: The terrace in front of the farmhouse provides an ideal space for entertaining. There is an adjacent dining area next to the farmhouse for al fresco dining. There is a bread-pizza oven below the guest house and a BBQ area. The pool is 8 metres by 4 metres, unfenced and surrounded by a grass area with shaded gazebo for dining. There is a pool house for storing the sun loungers. Utility Room: The washing machine is in the utility room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath and hand towels and linens are included. Swimming towels are also included. The property is cleaned weekly, and the towels and sheets are changed weekly. Other: The dining room seats 10 and is on the ground floor, with doors that open over the terrace. There are pool towels, and non-breakable glasses etc for the pool area.
