Villa in Calle Becquer, Mojacar Playa, Almeria Andalucia, Spain - Located Six Minutes Walk From The Beach, In A Peaceful, Well-Established Small Development.

A linked two bedroom, two bathroom villa sleeping four on a small, well established development . It has a lounge/diner with full air conditioning and heating throughout, also ceiling fans in the bedroom. It has a covered front terrace with a patio/garden beyong which includes a permanent barbeque. It is six minutes from the main beach area, with shops and restaurants, and is on a gentle hill giving it views over to the sea and the mountains behind from a large private roof terrace. All the outside area have tables, chairs, loungers and sun shades. The development has a communal pool. Access is via steps which makes it difficult for the infirm. There is a dedicated shaded car space behind the villa.

We stayed at David's villa for 9 nights with our daughters aged 8 and 5 in mid july. It is one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed in. The location was ideal for a young family being so near to all the amenities but also very private when we just wanted to relax at the villa. The pool area was clean and sufficient for us to have a dip in several times a day with hardly any one else using it. There was nothing else we could of asked for it was well equipped and the rooftop was lovely. It had a homely feel to it. The outdoor BBQ made our family evenings. We would strongly recommend this villa to any one visiting Mojacar and will certainly use it again. Thanks for making our holiday extra special.

From the Owner

Mojacar really chose itself. We wanted sea, good beaches, sunshine and little rain. On the edge of Europe's only desert, with more than 300 days of sun a year and 5kms of "blue" beaches, it was ideal. We wanted easy, cheap access from the UK. Almeria, Alicante and Murcia airports are all convenient and are well served by budget airlines. We live in Surrey - our door-to-door record is 5 hours 10 minutes via Gatwick/Almeria - easier than driving to Cornwall or the Lake District! We did not want huge crowds or developments. Apart from one hotel almost out of town, Mojacar is a two storey development only and only comes in two colours! It is equally enjoyed by Spaniards and other European residents and visitors and caters for pretty well all tastes.

Activity and Interests


There are seven main beaches at Mojacar covering over 5 km of coast. All are sandy - some coarser than others, some have small rocky areas and five of them have "blue" status. A few have beach bars, changing facilities and showers, whilst two have artificial breakwaters to create even shallower and safe swimming areas. Some have lifeguards. Most have parking facilities. All are within very easy walking distance of beachfront cafes, restaurants and shops. The nearest beach is six minutes walk.


Almeria airport is 70kms South, with a normal driving time of 50 minutes. Murcia is 110 kms North , normally 80 minutes. Alicante is a 150 minute drive.

Car hire is recommended but not essential as the resort facilities and beaches are all within a 20 minute walk. Regular local buses run past all the local beaches, to the main shopping area and up to Mojacar Pueblo. Public transport from the airports and to many of the local attractions and sights is not frequent.


Garrucha, a working fishing village is 4kms. The Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata starts 10kms to the south. Vera with its Waterpark is 15kms. Inland, Sorbas, built on a chasm and its caves and local pottery is 35kms, and Tabernas with its spaghetti western studio attractions in the desert is 55 kms. Further away, Granada is 200km. On the coast to the north, Cartagena with a Roman amphitheatre and famous port is 125kms, whilst Almeria, famous for tapas, the Alcazaba and cathedral is 90kms.

Further Details:

Both Barclays and Santander have branches within twelve minutes walk and other local banks with ATMs are even closer. Good beach bars are on the local beach, as are a good selection of local restaurants and bars. A good supermarket is a 15 minute walk away. There are many restaurants and other shops all along the seafront which stretches for almost five kilometers, but is not fully developed. There is a good local bus service which covers the whole developed area and also goes to the historic village of Mojacar Pueblo a kilometre up on the hills behind the Playa.

Changeover Day:
Prefer Saturday changeover ( leave by 10.00am ) but can be negotiated if stay is over 7 days. Keys can normally be collected from the agent 12.30 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 19.00 Mon-Sat. Other times can be arranged if 7 days notice given.

From the Owner

The development is well established and built - almost 25 years old now. It is small - only 14 single storey villas and 16 two storey apartments - downhill from the villas. It is very mixed, in that there are some permanent residents , both Spanish and British/Irish, but the majority of the homes are holiday homes, split between Spanish, Dutch, Irish and English owners. Only a few are rented, so the development is very seldom even half full. Our property has an upstairs sun terrace stretching over the whole property with beautiful views but is slightly away from the pool, so is always quiet and private. It also has a permanently roofed front terrace, so in the very unlikely event of rain, it is still possible to eat and drink outside.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is a typical Spanish villa with white roughcast walls throughout and tiled floors. Full sized double doors open out to the front patio in addition to a separate front door leading onto a small porch area. The front patio has a fixed UV screened polycarbonate roof with a manually retractable sunblind. All windows are fitted with rejas (security bars). There is air conditioning in the bedrooms as well as ceiling fans. The air conditioning in the lounge/diner is also a heater, and there is also a woodburning stove, a gas heater and electric fires available for chilly evenings early and late in the year. A local, long-established agent is retained to ensure that any issues can be promptly dealt with. Outside: There is a small fully covered terrace at the front of the property and also a small enclosed patio area. Upstairs there is a substantial sun terrace A table and four chairs is provided for both the terraces, together with large sun parasols. There are also four full length recliners. There is a built in barbeque on the front patio, and a small gas barbeque is also provided. The pool is communal and unheated, but of a good size with plenty of sheltered grass areas for sunbathing. Utility Room: There is a tumble dryer available in the larger bathroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included, and the property is cleaned weekly when all linen is changed. More frequent cleaning can easily be arranged and paid for locally.
