About Suzie & Andrew Grimwood

We moved to Pembrokeshire in May 2012 after living and working in the London area for almost 20 years. We decided that it was time for a change of lifestyle so we took a leap of faith, moving from the city to the countryside – and what a great move it has been! We live on site in the converted watermill with our 2 dogs.

Suzie & Andrew Grimwood purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Suzie & Andrew Grimwood chose Carmarthenshire

We fell in love with this property after seeing it on the internet. Although we viewed a number of other properties in the area which also offered holiday let opportunities, none lived up to Castle Ely Mill. We were captivated by the main house, the holiday let cottages, the grounds and the location. There is so much to do and see within a short drive of here – we are sure that you will love it as much as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are writing to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Mill Cottage. It is a really lovely small place ideal for just two of us on holiday, out and about all day. The cottage is really well equipped and you have thought of all the essentials and it is all so nicely presented. I've never used a small dish washing machine before but it was ideal.

We liked the setting, the lake and the ease of parking - the convenient position of Castle Ely having easy access to the A 477 trunk road makes visiting the many lovely beaches and gardens in S.W. Wales much easier.

I do hope you continue to have seasons of full bookings. It is ages since we were last in Wales and it was good to be back.

Pretty location, lovely accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Castle Ely Mill Cottage which was just as described. Susie and Andrew are lovely hosts and were very helpful. Mill Cottage was a perfect size for the two of us and we loved seeing a wide variety of birds visiting the bird tables etc around the cottage and the lake. Such a beautiful location and so easy to travel to a wide variety of lovely beaches and small towns and tourist attractions. Susie recommended a boat trip from Martins Haven to Skomer Island and it was wonderful to see the puffins and other lovely birds. If in Pembroke (lovely castle), then Food at Williams Restaurant do lovely light lunches. It is a lovely area with beautiful beaches such as Barafundle Bay, and we would definitely return to Mill Cottage to see more of Pembrokeshire.

Our third visit.....! Very homely, clean and spacious, and the kids like the outdoor space & game room. Within easy reach of Tenby and many lovely beaches. One of our favourite areas in the country.

A superb week

  • 5 of 5

Excellent stay at Mill Cottage; a cosy little cottage which we loved.

It had everything we needed and it's in lovely grounds. We appreciated the eco friendly cleaning products and the welcome gift of welsh cakes and jam. Enjoyed lazy breakfasts outside by the lake watching the dragonflies and damselflies buzz about.

The property is well maintained and very clean, Suzie and Andrew are excellent hosts, very helpful and really friendly.

I know the area well so we spent a great week travelling round the Pembrokeshire coastline. The cottage is in a great location to explore the area.

In summary we had a brilliant week. We'll definitely be back.

Just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

What a surprise we had when we came off the road and saw the view of the grounds. With a friendly welcome from Suzie we soon unpacked in our lovely accommodation and felt comfortable straight away as everything we needed was provided. We had mixed weather so knowing we had a comfortable place to go back to made our holiday more worthwhile. We certainly would stay at Mill Cottage again. Thank you Suzie and Andrew.

Coast/Beach:

This is an ideal location from where to explore the amazing coastline of Pembrokeshire. There is an abundance of blue flag beaches within easy access – our closest beaches are Amroth and Wisemans Bridge, both just a few minutes drive away. A little further afield are Saundersfoot and Tenby.

Travel:

London is approx 230 miles away, with all but the last few miles being Motorway or dual carriageway. Cardiff airport is approximately 1½ hours away by car. The port of Pembroke is less then 30 minutes away with direct ferries to/from Ireland.

Although everything is within easy access of Castle Ely Mill, ideally you do need a car.

Distances:

Local grocery supplies can be obtained at the local garage (where there is also a cash point), about half a mile away. A supermarket, Post Office, Chemist and several Take-Away restaurants are available in Kilgetty (a mere 5 miles away).

The nearest beach is approx 4 miles away.

Further Details:

There are so many things to see and do that there just isn't enough room here! We also leave a supply of leaflets on the local attractions for you. For more information please visit our website www.castle-ely-mill.com
