About the Owner

We are an Anglo turkish couple with 3 children living permanently in Turkey. We moved from England to Turkey in 2006 and choses Akyaka as our ideal location due to its stunning natural beauty and proximity to the airport. Our children go to the local school and we have a restaurant on the beach front in Akyaka which keeps us busy in the summer. In the winter we like to relax, catch up with friends, travel and enjoy the beauty of Turkey and its people.

Luxury in Akyaka

  • 4 of 5

We rented this villa in July 2103 after staying at another property in a nearby village the previous year. Akyaka is a lovely family-friendly beach resort which could not be more different from the likes of Marmaris. We made friends with the owners of this property in 2012 as they own a beach-front restaurant (highly recommended) which we dined at on a number of occasions.

The villa is very tastefully decorated and is in fact the family home of the owners, who rent it out during the Summer months. There are several well-appointed bathrooms and all the rooms are air conditioned. The main living quarters are very nicely decorated, and the furniture is very comfortable. The main attraction has to be the lovely balcony which has a fantastic view of the bay and is particularly handy for spotting when the conditions are right for a bit of kite-surfing!

The pool is a good size and is big enough to exercise in should you so desire. The kids loved it. There are plenty of good quality deck chairs.

I would say that a car is essential whilst you are staying here - not only because of the location (you could walk to Akyaka, but it would take some time) but because of all of the great places in the area to visit, which would require transport.

All in all a fantastic property and you have the added benefit of the owners who are a lovely couple and will go out of their way to make sure you have a great holiday. Only sorry that we cannot go back this year due to work commitments over the Summer. Hopefully 2015 will see us back there again!

So good we came again....

  • 5 of 5

I first came to Jane & Mev's fantastic villa for a long overdue girls get together in early May. The beautifully appointed accommodation worked so well and was hugely flexible. The early season was lovely and warm with an abundance of flowers and wildlife... some mornings we strolled along the pretty river to Akyaka for lazy breakfasts by the sea. At this time of year the ducks on the river had ducklings, the cats had kittens, and flowers bloomed everywhere.

Our next visit was in October and we filled the villa to celebrate a family birthday; my sister and i with respective families and our mother too. It was the perfect venue. The split of accommodation allowed us to have our own space and yet be together. The children particularly loved the pool, others enjoying sunbathing on the terrace taking in the view.

The villa is in a quiet spot with stunning views towards the sea, and yet an easy stroll into town where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

There is plenty to see and do. Our hosts Jane and Mev had lots of great suggestions. We went on a private Gulet trip across the bay to an island one day, went for walks along the river and coast, and chilled out. Mev runs a wonderful restaurant on the sea front - a must for great food and atmosphere - you cannot help returning..

For our next trip we plan to visit Ephesus and maybe drive out to the Bozbruan peninsula

A wonderful place to vacation

  • 5 of 5

Myself and children stayed at Mev and Jayne's villa during the October holidays, the villa itself came highly recommended by friends of ours who have stayed a few times in the past.

We needed some sun and relaxation and as I was on my own this time with the children it had to be somewhere that was safe. The villa did not disapoint.

The owners Mev & Jayne give great customer service. Jane had organised a hire car for us to use whilst there, plus a driver who collected and drove us back to the airport after our holiday.........everything was seamless, smooth and stress free.

The weather was lovely during our stay, the villa spotlessly clean, modern in decor and the surroundings lovely. The views from the villa itself were fantastic, truly picturebook - the mountains tothe rear of the villa and fields out front with a view of the sea in the distance. Peaceful and very Beautiful.

The villa's pool and gardens were first class, the villa is located just outside the village of Akyaka. The village has everything you need to stay self catering, fresh bakery, shops with a choice of fresh produce.

The beach front is just 5 minutes away in the car, the beach is great for smaller children as its shallow - we have never seen a beach that the water is at such a low height for such a considerable distance out into the sea - great for little ones as parents know that they cant go out of their depth quickly. The beach had a great variety of watersports, plus good resturants. The best I have to say without predujice; was 'Mev's' - Mev & Jayne's resturant on the beach front itself..

It was in our opinion the nicest family place to eat, good food, reasonable price & great atmosphere. Staff were suberb.

As we had hired the car we did a little exploring and visited beaches along the coast from Akyaya itself whilst we were there, the scenery is breathtaking and the countryside un-spoilt..

Janye herself is truly a superb host. She had put a lot of effort into preparing her home for us, she left us a wonderful welcome basket that kept us going for the whole week.

Our first morning there and she was there with all the information you could wish for - information regarding the surrounding countrside, trips that you could undertake, guests reviews on restaurants etc

We hope to return with our family for a vacation sometime in the near future. This was our first experience of Turkey itself and we loved it.

Lovely Akyaka

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks in Jane & Mev's very comfortable house. Akyaka is a great location, the views from the house over the valley & castle, stunning. The owners could not have been nicer, always helpful and interested in us. Mev's restaurant is a must, again the service we received there was exemplary. A great find, ideal for those looking for an unspoilt corner of Turkey.

Fabulous house in a stunning location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful two weeks in this lovely villa on the outskirts of Akyaka. Akyaka is about an hour from Dalaman airport. The house is extremely comfortable and well designed, lots of marble and stone. It also has an extremely efficient air con system which can be controlled room by room. In temperatures approaching 40 degrees we found it really useful! There is a lovely verandah over -looking the large pool and surrounding countryside. We were a group of nine and found the house spacious and well equipped. The garden is well tended and colourful (and occasionally hosts wild tortoises!). We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa. We always walked into Akyaka which is a pleasant 20 minute walk along the river road. You can reach the first bar/restaurant within about 10 minutes. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars in the town. One of which is owned and run by Jane's husband and we had many great evenings there. The vast majority of the holiday makers here are Turkish, but many locals speak enough English so there was never any communication issues. Jane (the villa owner) was extremely helpful with suggesting good beaches, organising car hire hire, Gulet hire, mentioning good places to visit etc. We made the journey to Ephesus which is about 2 and a half hours away. There are also plenty of other sites worth visiting that can easily be reached from this location. We found the Turks to be really friendly and helpful and keen that we had a great holiday. This is a great house in a beautiful location. It would be hard for anyone not to have an extremely enjoyable holiday here.

Location

From the Owner

We bought a plot of land here in Akyaka in 2006. The plot is located on the mountainside behind the ruins of Akyaka castle. It has stunning sea, valley and mountain views and is in a quiet location away from the crowds but only a short drive away from the centre. Building started in October 2006 and we moved in on 7th July 2007. We designed and built the house ourselves to a very high standard and are confident it offers all the accomodation and facilities required for a family. This is our family home so it is fully equiped and homely. We love it and are sure that you will too.

The villa is situated in the premier location in Akyaka with its unrivalled views and peacefulness. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside but are not isolated. As we are set up on the hillside there is usually a cooling breeze which is most welcome in the summer months. If you enjoy star gazing this is the best spot for that. A truely great location.
