About the Owner
About Roger Lawn
The owner of the house is a retired Senior British Naval Officer who spends his time between France and the UK where he has other properties. He has reluctantly agreed to rent out the property as houses do need to be lived in but only by respectable caring people who will appreciate its beauty and antiquity.
The owner does have a seperate apartment for staff above the houes but this is left vacant when the house is rented out, for the privacy of the gests.
Roger Lawn purchased this in 2009

Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
Fishing in the river Alune, right on the doorstep the best salmon river in France.
There are many beaches a few miles away
Nearest airport is 40 miles away with car hire. Our nearest ferry port is Roscoff just under one hours drive away. St.Malo is just over two hours drive and the Port of Cherbourg is about four and a half hours drive away.
Then House is in the centre of Port Launay, the town of Chateaulin is only a few minutes car ride away. Quimper is only 20 minutes by car away.
There are a number of sandy beaches only 20 minutes away. Golf and fishing all over the area.
In Port Launay there are two local bars one within walking distance even for a senior citizen with a café, the other has an excellent restaurant serving local food such as beouf bouguignon at a very reasonable prices with a bottle of wine included. There is also a superb boulangerie making cakes and tarts like only the French can make. The town of Chateaulin has shops, Banks, bars and restaurants including a Greek and Chinese takeaways and of course French Brasseries and Sea food restaurants.
There are at least two SUPER supermarkets selling local fish, meat and vegetables amongst other things. Their wine stocks are fantastic, you can buy a bottle of wine from as little as one pound up to twenty depending on your taste. Remember in France , particularly in Brittany , expensive is not always best, the key word is "local", check what the locals are buying, a perfectly good wine at 2 or 3 Euro can be most palatable and a third of the cost of a UK supermarket so take some home!
