Apartment in Torre Soli Nou, Nr. Son Bou, Menorca, Balearic Islands - A Spacious Apartment In Relatively Quiet Location, Away From Resort Centre (3 To 4 Minutes In Car)

A ground floor, 2 bedroom apartment, with air-conditioning, in a complex of 18 privately owned apartments, on the edge of the Torre Soli Nou urbanisation. Whilst there are hotels on the urbanisation, it is mostly private villas and apartments. Marianda 2 is situated in its own gardens, with views over open countryside to the rear. There is a private shared swimming pool, with a separate shallow end for small children. Son Bou beach, the longest on the island, is a short distance away (5 minutes by car). The Marianda 2 apartments are more spacious than standard 2 bedroom holiday apartments, and can be suitable for permanent occupation. Because they are privately owned, they are rarely fully occupied, apart from the peak July/August period. They are ideal for couples or families who want comfortable accommodation in a quiet location, but not recommended for groups of youngsters looking for nightlife. There are shops and restaurants in Son Bou, and a local supermarket just 200m away.

About the Owner

We are a retired couple who love Menorca, and spend as much time there as we can. I worked for 40 years for a major Utility, and my wife was a teacher. I still act as a Non-executive Director for an SME electrical contractor. We have been coming to Menorca for around 20 years, and bought the Marianda 2 apartment, new, 10 years ago. We loved the apartment, but after we retired we decided to buy a plot of land, still in Torre Soli Nou, and build our own villa, which we completed to in 2010. We decided to still keep the apartment, and in 2012 we redecorated and refurnished it for holiday rental. The maintenance of Marianda 2 is under the control of it's own Community, and I am President of that Community. The local Administrator is also the Manager of Torre Soli Nou urbanisation.

A wonderful relaxing and comfortable Vacation home

We have holidayed in Menorca for the last 13 years with our two grandchildren and love the island but this was our favourite visit. This apartment was just as described in the listing but better.When we arrived we were immediately impressed by the cleanliness and well maintained surroundings. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a 'Home from Home

Many of the properties which we have previously stayed in have been rather small but here we had plenty of space and felt equally happy to spend hours inside out of the sun or on the wonderful balcony.It was located in a quiet area away from the centre and was wonderfully cool at night due to the air conditioning.The pool was very pleasant and the fact that it was so easy to pop up to the apartment for lunch or a shower was great.

Bob the owner visited briefly and gave useful information and checked that everything was OK this was pleasant and non intrusive and it was nice to feel familiar with the owner of the property in which we were staying.

The Zoo is worth a visit , small but well organised and Aquarock water park in Cala n Bosh was good although we found that a half day from 2.30- 6pm was enough time in the heat of the sun. Arenal D 'en Castell is a beautiful beach and lovely for a cooling dip in the sea.

Altogether a wonderful holiday and Home for two weeks

Great, clean, modern apartment.

A very spacious apartment which was lovely and clean. Had everything we needed for our stay. Kids loved the pool which they more or less had to themselves. Another fabulous holiday in Son Bou - booked apartment again for 2017. Thanks again Bob.

Great location on edge of urbanisation

The apartment is really well equipped and in a lovely spot with views of

the sea from the front and wooded hillsides from the rear. The walk to

the beach along the Cami de Cavalls (from the very end of the nearby

hotel car park) was a delight. We saw tortoises, dragonflies and horses

every time we walked it. No cars either!

It's a great base from which to explore this lovely laid back island. We

have already recommended it to friends.

Beautiful apartment, fab views!!

This apartment provides a spacious & luxurious base to enjoy Menorca. It is very tastefully furnished, & well equipped for all your holoday needs & more. The beds/bedding are of exceptional quality in this holiday let..we really couldnt find fault in anything...only that we couldn't stay for longer! We ate breakfast on the huge terrace every day, which has the most amazin view across farmland to the sea, absolutely stunning!! Also the bokin process with Bob is seamless, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend...& hopefully we will be back very soon! Alison & Ian from Northumberland x

Fantastic Holiday and Great Apartment

Had a fantastic holiday on a beautiful Island. Booking the apartment was really easy, Bob answered all emails very promptly with any information we requested. All details about getting to the property, collecting keys, handover procedure etc were easy to follow. The apartment itself was clean, modern, spacious, practical with everything you could need during your stay. Despite being a shared pool it never got busy even in mid August. During our stay the owner called round to make sure we had settled in ok and had everything we needed. He gave some great ideas on places to visit and sights to see during our stay. I would definitely recommend this property.

As good as the first time we went!

As in 2014 when we visited. A superb apartment which provides access to all local amenities, including small supermarket, restaurants and bars, but without them being on your doorstep.

The apartment has everything you could ask for and the owners are most accommodating.

Guess I'll be writing a glowing review next year as well.

Location

From the Owner

We first went on holiday to Menorca some 20 years ago, and have stayed in various hotels and villas around the island. Having been on numerous beach holidays to other places, we came to the conclusion that we couldn't find a better beach anywhere than Son Bou! With the prospect of retiring early, we bought the apartment 10 years ago, and have never looked back. We quickly came to appreciate what a beautiful island Menorca is when we started to explore it more out of season. Away from the peak time of July and August, the island is a quiet rural paradise. The opening up of the Cami de Cavalls, an old horse trail that goes all round the Island, has added to the many delightful walks and places to explore. In 2008 we decided to build our own villa, a few hundred metres from the apartment.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Mahon at 20 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Son Bou at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Mahon at 20 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Son Bou at 1 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Son Bou at 2 Kilometres

Coast/Beach:

Son Bou beach 5 minutes drive, or a 25 minute walk. Son Bou is the longest beach on the island, more than 2 km. Behind the beach are dunes and a protected area of wetland. Access to the beach is from the large car park in Son Bou, and the beach then stretches more than 2 km to the headland that separates it from the next beach at Santo Tomas. There are many other beaches and coves around the island, accessible by car.

Travel:

Flights are to Mahon Airport, which is about a 25 minute drive away. Car hire is almost essential, and is certainly recommended. The major car hire companies operate from the airport. It is recommended that car hire should be pre-booked in the UK.

Distances:

Menorca is a small island, so nowhere is much more than half an hours drive. The nearest town is Alaior, with supermarkets and other shops. The Capital, Mahon, is about a 30 minute drive, and the old capital, Ciutadella, is about 40 minutes in the other direction.

Further Details:

There are shops, bars and restaurants in the resort of Son Bou that are open during the holiday season. The nearby Jardin de Menorca aparthotel also has a bar and restaurant. There is a small supermarket a couple of hundred metres from the apartment that can provide fresh bread and other essentials during the holiday season. Out of season, the nearest shops are in Alaior (the season is generally May to October).

Whilst Menorca is well known as a summer holiday beach resort, it is a beautiful island for walkers to explore in the cooler spring and autumn months. The recent opening up of the Cami de Cavalls, an old horse trail that goes all round the island, is an ideal route for walkers to follow. There are also many hidden coves, ancient monuments and other sites of historical interest for walkers to explore.

From the Owner

This apartment is more spacious and comfortable than the average holiday apartment. It is on the edge of the urbanisation, so is away from the busier resort centre, but still within easy reach of the resort's facilities and Son Bou Beach. It is conveniently placed to explore the rest of the island, but you do need a car to make the most of it. The gardens and the private shared pool provide a select environment for a relaxing holiday. The apartment is tastefully furnished, has air conditioning for added comfort in the heat of the summer. Whilst it is quite likely that most of the 18 apartments will be in use in August, outside of the main season there is usually relatively low occupancy, so ideal for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

It is a place for couples or young families to enjoy. It is not suitable for groups of youngsters looking for a party! There are shops and restaurants in the resort centre in Son Bou, which is 3 to 4 minutes away in the car, or a 30 minute walk if you prefer. The nearby Jardin de Menorca hotel has a bar and restaurant. There is a good little supermarket only 200m away for your daily bread, milk and other supplies. PLEASE NOTE THAT SINCE FEB 2014 BBC AND ITV NOT AVAILABLE. Outside: The Marianda 2 apartments are set in their own gardens, with a shared pool to the rear. The main gardens are to the rear of the block, but the ground floor apartments also have their own private gardens, for their personal use only, at the front. The front gardens are accessed through a lockable gate, and lead on to a very private covered terrace with table and chairs and a charcoal barbecue. The covered terrace allows outside dining for a large part of the year - shaded from the hot sun in the summer, and protected from any wind or rain in spring and autumn. Even though ground floor, the terrace is slightly elevated above the garden. Utility Room: Washing machine in outside cupboard on covered terrace (not a utility room) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels (except beach towels) and bed linen included. Changed weekly. Cleaned before each occupancy. Help and support is available from the Torre Soli Nou Estate Office, a few hundred metres down the road. Other: The outside covered terrace with table and chairs, with a small garden in front, is very private and the ideal place for dining during the summer months, and for a good part of the spring and autumn. Retractable blinds to give shelter from hot sun.
