Merryfields Barn is a luxury self-catering barn which has a modern, cosy feel throughout. Built in 2009 to a high standard, the property has an efficient, modern boiler, thick insulation and under-floor heating to ensure you’ll never be cold and, in warm weather, there are two sets of oak French doors which can be opened onto paved patio areas; one has fabulous mountain views over an orchard and the other is completely private, with garden furniture and a barbecue area. Merryfields Barn overlooks a lawned area which is plated with fruit trees, raspberries, daffodils and shrubs. There is a sandstone patio area where you can enjoy a coffee or glass of wine whilst admiring the stunning views of the Black Mountains and Usk Valley. At the rear of the property, oak French doors open onto a large, private patio area which has a barbecue and garden furniture. There is also a large, enclosed paddock with a small stream and, adjacent to the property, a parking area for three cars. Excellent wired Internet gives excellent broadband speeds. Dogs are very welcome.

As owners of Merryfields Barn, Steve and Angie Sharp look forward to welcoming you.

We have lived in the Crickhowell area for over 20 years, having fallen in love with the market local towns, mountains, walks and rivers. It was a great place to bring up our children, and now we're fortunate to have Merryfields Barn, which was built on our land. Our own house is near enough the barn that we're available should there be a problem, and yet far enough away that the barn is private and guests can enjoy their own peace and quiet.

Coast/Beach:

The beaches at Gower, near Swansea, are fabulous (best in the UK - e.g. Rhossili and Three Cliffs Bay). They are about 90 minutes' drive from the barn, so near enough for a change if the children (or husband) get bored of biking and canoeing!

Travel:

Nearest airports are Cardiff, Bristol (both about 1 hour) and Birmingham (90 minutes). Nearest train and bus stations are in Abergavenny, less than 15 minutes by car.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The barn was built 4 years ago, to a very high specification. Guests comment on the lovely feel/atmosphere and many say it feels like home from home. There are fabulous views of Crickhowell and the Black Mountains and a lovely garden for sitting out, watching the buzzards and rabbits, eating al fresco, secluded sunbathing, chilling with a glassing of wine or reading that book... Outside: There are two patio areas, one of which is private and secluded. A barbecue is provided and there's a hard wood table and four chairs, for eating outside, and a wooden bench, for admiring the views. At the back of the barn is a large paddock which guests can use when it isn't being used by our local farmer's friendly Welsh cob (a few weeks during the winter). There is a separate, fenced dog exercise area. Utility Room: The utility room has a washing machine, separate tumble dryer, boiler, iron/ironing board, recycling bins, etc.
