Cadran Solaire and Petits Chats booked together
Cadran Solaire and Petits Chats can be booked as a single house, accommodating up to 18 adults in nine spacious bedrooms (seven doubles and 2 twins) each individually styled and beautifully finished. There are also two cots available for younger guests.
In addition, the combined property has two lounges, two kitchens, four bathrooms, etc. All rooms are well-appointed. Outside, there is a swimming pool, games room, two outdoor terraces and gardens. The largest terrace can accommodate up to 18 diners.
The two parts of the house offer complimentary styles. Cadran Solaire is more contemporary while Petits Chats is more vintage, with much of the upstairs having beautiful exposed Charentaise stone walls.
The house has free broadband, as well as English-language satellite TV and DVD.
Set in a quiet hamlet just outside the village of St Hilaire de Villefranche, our house is a wonderful location from which to explore the Charante Maritime region. Surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vines, it is perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday, while close to all the major local attractions. St Hilaire is less than 10 minutes walk away and has two boulangeries, a supermarket, a bank, etc. The beautiful medieval town of St Jean d'Angely is 10 minutes drive away, the large towns of Saintes and Cognac are 15 minutes away, and the coast is less than on hour's drive
Our farmhouse can be booked in two ways. In each case, a booking gives sole occupancy of our house and sole use of the pool / gardens.
Firstly, you can book either part of the house on a stand alone basis. Cadran Solaire ("The sundial") which is just over half of the house and has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, etc. Petits Chats ("Little Cats") which is slightly smaller and has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and so on. Our house is not rented on a shared basis, so a booking of one part of the house gives sole occupancy and the other part will not be booked out to other people.
Alternatively the entire house can be booked as a single property of nine bedrooms, four bathrooms, two lounges and kitchens, together with indoor and outdoor dining areas, the pool and garden.
For most of the year, Petits Chats may be booked on a stand alone basis, but during the high season, it may only be booked in conjunction with Cadran Solaire.

What makes this farmhouse unique
Our house is within a short drive of all of the highlights in the Charente Maritime. There are historic towns and beautiful villages, rolling countryside covered with vines and sunflowers, beautiful beaches, even one of France's finest zoos
Needless to say, the food and drink is delicious, the markets are wonderful, everything about the area is fantastic!
A deposit of £450 per week is required to secure a booking at either of the two houses, or £600 if the entire property is being booked.
The balance is due 6 weeks prior to your arrival together with a £250 security deposit which will be refunded with 14 days of your departure provided no further charges are due.
Our cancellation policy depends on how long is left before your commencement date - the full details can be found on our website.
Saturday only - some flexibility away from the peak season of mid-July to the end of August.
Notes on prices:
Booking Cadran Solaire and Petits Chats together is approximately 20% lower than the combined individual prices. So for high season, the combined price is £2700 per week, June is £2200 per week, May and September are £1600

Activity and Interests
Our farmhouse is located less than an hour's drive from the coast and there are over 200 beaches on the coast between La Rochelle and Royan. We would particularly recommend Fouras (near Rochefort), Saint Georges de Didonne (near Royan) or the coast close to the Isle d'Oleron.
The nearest airport is La Rochelle (65 mins), followed by Poitiers(90 mins) and Bordeaux (100 mins). Use of a car is essential. The nearest ferry port is St Malo at 400km, followed by Caen at 450km, Cherbourg at 550km and Calais at 750km. The nearest TGV station is Surgeres at 40km.

- Outside: The garden and pool area are south-facing and get the sun all day. There are two large terrace areas and a built in barbeque for dining out plus an in-ground swimming pool (8m x 3m) with its own terracing and plenty of sun loungers. The rest of the garden is mainly lawn with a number of fruit trees providing shade. There are two wells and four little outbuildings. The house is enclosed on all sides and is not overlooked by neighbours.
