Apartment Mouvedre is set in a Secure Converted 18th Century Winery. In the popular village of La Redorte, within walking distance of the Canal du Midi.

If you are looking for a relaxing break in a typical French village with beautiful and historic surroundings, This apartment is for you.

This lovely three bedroomed apartment is situated within an 18th century winery which once served the nearby Chateau. La Batisse is a secure and private complex.

Apartment Mouvedre is situated on the first floor.

The Winery was restored about 15 years ago to a high standard. and is situated within the quiet rural

village of La Redorte which sits on the Canal Du Midi.

La Batisse is full of character and has a beautiful courtyard which leads to a communal heated swimming pool & Sauna, offering loungers for you to use and relax by the pool.

Apartment Mouvedre is a well equipped apartment with all modern facilities you would expect.

The ground floor is open plan,

Entrance Hall with downstairs toilet,

Well Equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob and all the utensils you will need to cook a great meal.

Dinning area, with table and chairs to seat 6 people.

Lounge with Leather sofa, Coffee Table and Tv. The lounge overlooks the courtyard.

There are 3 double bedrooms on the first floor.

La Redorte has two restaurants, one on the village main street and one on the canal. There is a Supermarket and a petrol station. The village also offers a bank, Post Office, tabac and of course a master bakers .Our village is perfectly situated - the amazing old city of Carcassonne is just 15 miles away. There are two beautiful lakes nearby (Lac Jouarre & Lac de la Cavayere) , these are both manned by life guards, offering safe swimming and water sports . Just a 30 minute drive in the opposite direction, are the lovely beaches of the Mediterranean. Gruissan for instance has it all - the sandy beach, the harbour and the tranquil historic centre. North of us are the black mountains where beautiful villages are set amongst the hillsides - here you’ll find river swimming and kayaking are popular pass-times.

This part of France offers fantastic beaches and beautiful scenery.

Carcassonne castle is a must to explore. It is breathtaking.

Immaculate, spacious apartment in lovely, sleepy La Redorte

Great base for exploring the Languedoc region. Had days out wild swimming in rivers and lakes and mooching around beautiful historic villages, and towns (Lac Jouarres, lac Cavayere, Lagrasse, Roquebrun, Bize Minervois). Coastline of Narbonne and Leucate within an hour's drive and gorgeous ( la Franqui, Gruissan Plage, le Biquet and Peyriac de mer visited and loved). Carcasonne at sunset beautiful. Struggled to eat out locally as family of 5. Very quiet neighbourhood, few restaurants, no children's menus and expensive. Tended to have lunch or snacks out and cook in the very well equipped kitchen at the apartment. There's an Intermarche next door open daily so no hassle.

La Batiste development is safe and well managed but quiet and a little tired. Pool area is unattractive with bare high wall and only 5 sun beds. More pool side furniture and trellises against that wall would vastly improve the aesthetic appearance. We were also disappointed not to have an outdoor space or furniture at Mouvedre as it is on the first floor. We were informed that we could use a communal grass area in front of the apartment and we picnicked here a couple of times, sitting on the grass. We missed the experience of being out on a warm summer's night as we have done on other holidays. Some accessible outdoor furniture and nightlights would address this.

Overall, a successful holiday and we would recommend it as a place to stay if you are looking for somewhere quiet to base yourself for exploration of this region.

Coast/Beach:

Lac Jouarres is 10 minutes drive and has a lovely lake and sandy beaches with a restaurant. Narbonne beach is approx 45 minutes drive and has long sandy beaches and lovely blue sea. Other beaches, 10 minutes from Narbonne is the beach village of Gruissan with three beaches and the scene of the film ‘Betty Blue’. There are 42 beaches along the Golffe du Lion with the majority of them less than an hour away.

Distances:

The apartment is in the village of La Redorte. The Canal du Midi, with its bistros and lively canal culture is a short stroll away.

Narbonne is 45 minutes. Perfectly located for exploring the Lanquedoc Roussillon Region and its beautiful villages and Cathar castles. The medieval town of Carcassonne (La Cite) about 15 miles, Narbonne (40 miles), Minerve (10 miles) and the magnificent Cathar castles of Lastours are all easily accessible and a must-see when in the area.

Further Details:

There are two restaurants in the village, one with terrace on banks of the Canal du Midi. More excellent canal-side restaurants can be found in next village of Homps or in Rieux Minervois 6km away.

The village has a large supermarket (Intermarche -open every day) and a number of shops including butchers, boulangerie, Pizzeria, tabac, post office, pharmacy, hairdressers/beauty salon and a bank, doctors & dentist.

Ideal area for walking, cycling. Local activities also include canoe/canyoning, water sports, horse riding. Golf course nearby in Carcassonne.

Outdoor Adventure park suitable for all ages at Lac de la Cavayere (about 30 mins away) and supervised beaches. Visiting traditional French markets or free wine tasting at the local vineyards are other activities to be enjoyed daily in the area.

The full amount must be paid 8 weeks prior to commencement of your holiday.

Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your holiday and there is more than 8 weeks to the commencement. We reserve the right to keep your deposit. If there is less than 8 weeks we reserve the right to keep the full amount.
