Cottage in Cononley, Nr. Skipton, Yorkshire, England - Peaceful Location With Various Activities For Holidaymakers Of All Ages

High View Holiday Cottage was purpose built in 2012. The flexible accommodation makes it ideal for families or groups of walkers. With 2 bedrooms offering either double or twin accommodation and 2 bathrooms avoiding any unnecessary queues! The Lounge and both bedrooms also have up-to-date flat-screen TVs and WiFi is available throughout. The stylish open living area enables the cook of the evening to continue socialising with the rest of the holidaymakers! The lounge area also offers a sofa bed to accommodate a further 2 people enabling 6 to stay here. A porch provides extra space for those coats and shoes though there are two large wardrobes in the bedrooms. Private parking is available directly outside for 2 cars with further nearby parking available. There is a patio area at the front of the cottage with luxurious garden furniture providing beautiful views of our unbeatable countryside.

Please note that our Cottage is not a party house. We live next door so we are your neighbours as well as 8 other surrounding properties. We therefore insist that you are respectful of our neighbours and as such keep noise levels to a minimum from 10pm-7:30am. The Cottage is detached so you do not have to be particularly careful when inside. I am referring more to when you enter the Cottage and whilst you use the patio. Thank you for your co-operation regarding this.

About the Owner

The Holiday Cottage was purpose-built by James, my partner, in the grounds of our Home during 2012. James and I both grew up in Cononley and couldn't think of anywhere better to bring up our two children. We are also very lucky that both our parents still live in the village. James' parents and brother running a large Farm on the outskirts of the Village. James and I often utilise Holiday Cottages to visit different parts of the UK with our two children and another family. My parents are keen walkers and also regularly use Holiday Cottages with their friends. We therefore hope that we've utilised all our experiences to create a Holiday Cottage that is perfect for you! I started working in Hotels when I was 13 and feel confident we are offering top class accommodation!

My wife and I sought a quiet cottage in North Yorkshire, with easy access to Skipton, York, and cycling in the Dales. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and a shor walk to the Cononley Train Station gave us a break from driving and got us wherever we wanted to go. There is only one pub serving meals in the village, but it is a friendly place with good food. The guest book provides recommendations for other excellent pubs nearby.

Highly recommended cottage

We stayed in this cottage for a week in early September. The cottage is furnished in a contemporary style, was well equipped with everything we needed and was comfortable. It was spotlessly clean. Gemma, the owner, lives next door and is helpful without being intrusive. She responded promptly to our e-mails regarding booking and directions. Some nice views from the windows. Good Wi-fi connection, TV reception and efficient showers [not always the case in some holiday cottages!] A handy location as a base for visiting the South Dales, Harrogate, Saltaire etc. Although we did not use the trains ourselves, these would be an added bonus for some people. We would recommend this cottage.

Lovely cottage in beautiful Yorkshire countryside

The cottage was clean, well maintained, and included everything we needed. Gemma, the owner, was so welcoming and had always replied promptly to emails before our stay. The location was excellent. The small station which was less than 10 minutes walk meant that we were able to leave the car and enjoy travelling by train to Skipton, Saltaire, and Keighley. We loved staying here and will hopefully be visiting again some time soon. Highly recommended.

Location

We built the Cottage in our grounds as feel it's an ideal location for a Holiday for all types of people! I lived in Australia for a year, and also spent some time living in Manchester, but in my eyes Cononley is the perfect place! As the name of the Cottage boasts we have a 'High View' of the Village and on a clear day see all the way to Malham!

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Lytham St Annes (50 miles; Approx 1 hour 15 minutes)

Travel:

2 minute walk from local Bus Stop

10 minute walk to Village Train Station (direct trains to Leeds and Bradford)

Leeds Bradford Airport is 20 miles away and takes approximately 35 minutes at quieter times

Further Details:

Dining within the Village there is a pub serving food and a Chinese Take-Away. In the nearby town of Skipton (4 miles, 10-15 minute drive) there is a variety of restaurants available. There is also an Italian and Chinese Restaurant in the neighbouring Village of Crosshills (2 miles away).

Shops. The Village has a Post Office that offers a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as many other essentials! Crosshills (2 miles away) has a Co-op offering a wider choice of products, a Butchers, Bakers, a Cafe and also Boots and two other Chemists. The Butchers in Crosshills sells meat sourced from my Father-in-law's farm within the village. They deliver free of charge!

Leisure Activities & Walks

Skipton offers a Swimming Pool, Bowling Alley, Pitch and Put, Cinema House, Barge trips along the canal as well as many bars and Restaurants. The most obvious and free leisure activity available here is the endless walks. There are some beautiful walks within Cononley, whether you fancy a stroll round the river or a walk up the hillside we can offer both! The canal is also only a mile away if you prefer to walk here. For keener walkers there are endless longer walks available in the neighbouring areas and we are situated approximately one mile from the Pennine Way.

Children's Activities

There is a fantastic park within the Village as well as fun parks located in neighbouring villages. One of the larger parks is St Ives, Bingley and is approximately 11 miles from Cononley.

An excellent playing area named the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm is based in Halton East (8 miles from Cononley). Their play equipment is predominantly outside though they do have some sheltered areas. This play area is free though it's hard to resist their ice creams or delicious coffee which obviously have to be paid for!

Two indoor play areas - Fun Planet in Crosshills (2 miles away) and Dragons Den, Keighley (7 miles away). Always something to do whatever the weather

From the Owner

I feel our property is unique as it has been built solely for people to Holiday in! We also feel that the two bathrooms are a massive benefit for when you have two families in one home. It's always helpful if one of you can be bathing the kids whilst the other can still be using the shower! From experience some smaller properties don't always provide on-site parking so you can relax in the knowledge you can park right outside the Cottage. If families wish to stay with young children we will provide a travel cot and portable high chair free of charge. For you walkers James has built a Porch for you to kick off your boots and hang up your coats! The radiator directly under the hooks will dry them when needed! After all, we do our best but we can't control the weather!
