Near Uzes, Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon - Hill Top Village Of Fournes In The Heart Of Languedoc's Vines And Olive Trees

“La Joie de Sud” i s a recent restoration. It sleeps 3 people and has 2 bedrooms. The property has two exterior terraces. A small one in front of the sitting room and the other, larger one, linking from the main bedroom and not overlooked so a perfect spot to sit and unwind.

The open plan sitting room/kitchen comprises 2 large chaise longue settees and a TV (English Freeview channels and French channels), and DVD player with DVDs. There is a radio/CD/MP3 player with selection of CDs. A WIFI box with free internet access. (An additional iPOD player with radio combination is in the bedroom).

Behind, the open plan living area is a modern fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. (Electric oven, hob unit, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster). Behind the kitchen is a separate and useful storage room housing the freezer, microwave and kitchen crockery etc.

A staircase leads up to the next level where there are two bedrooms both linking to the bathroom that has a shower and twin washbasins.

I moved to the Languedoc in 2003. In 2005 I started a business looking after holiday homes in this area of Languedoc Roussillon. This includes: project management of restoration work, regular property surveillance checks, handling utilities companies, and more. Some of the owners rent out their houses and I manage the advertisement, handle enquiries and bookings, and in some cases the "meet and greet" and "check out" processes.

Superb location for accessing many of the attractive towns and villages of the Gard department in Languedoc Roussillon. On the border of Provence so vines, sunflowers and lavender in abundance. Near the famous tourist area of Uzes, mediaeval town containing beautiful 17th and 18th century houses and one of the South of France's most famous markets. The area is particularly good for local produce with many growers selling their produce on the roadside. In season, you really enjoy the freedom to buy fresh fruit and vegetables every day, no polystyrene packaging and freight handling - just mother nature at its best.

What makes this house unique

The property is furnished as if you are stepping into a family home. There is a feeling of comfort and there are personal touches throughout making it a home rather than purely a furnished rental.

Notes on accommodation: Flat fee as advertised. No price increase if property occupied by 3 persons. Outside: The top terrace has sun loungers and a white cast iron table with 4 matching chairs which make this the ideal place to relax, dine, read and unwind. It overlooks a neighbour's green and private park making the top terrace a lovely location to take in the evening sunset or a breakfast of coffee and croissants. (Local grocer and "depot de pain" 2 minutes walk in the village). There is a barbecue facility on this terrace. There is also a small terrace outside the sitting room. A cafe/bar is 5 minutes on foot from the property. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Part of our success has been that the price on the rental search is the price you pay. No charge for bedding or towels or for utilities. We also do not charge a cleaning fee but would ask that the property is left in a tidy condition on departure otherwise 30 euros is deducted from the damage deposit.

Very convenient and comfortable accommodation

The apartment was everything that was described and gave us a great base for visiting many of the sites in the area. It is only a short drive from the Pont du Gard and it is easy to get to Avignon and Nimes. I would recommend this apartment to others. It is very well equipped with domestic appliances and has fast internet and even English TV!!

Has everything you need

This property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was clean, well maintained and all the comforts of home.

The location is great to get out and about and see the surrounding area.

Gill is a terrific host able to give details of places to eat and also where to buy wine!

We are proposing to move to this area permanently following our retirement and have in fact booked the apartment for a couple of months to pursue our house hunt. That's how much we like it.

Great location

The property is as described and in a great location to visit the places of interest such as Uzes, Pont du Gard, Camargue, Cevennes National Park and Lussan.

Gill the owner gave us good customer service and was available at all times

if required.

I would recommend this property as its only a very short distance off the A9 and central to most places.

We visited this area 14 years ago and was not disappointed in any way at all.

Fab Place to stay

The property is situated in a delightful village and is lovely. It contains all of the facilities that you are likely to require on a holiday. The upstairs terrace is particularly nice being private and bathed in sunshine from the early morning until about 6pm (in late July). The property was clean and accurately described in the owners direct listing - the pictures told you exactly what you were getting. The owner gave good and friendly service and was on call if necessary. The location is perfect for visiting all of the areas of interest in this section of the south of France. We would stingily recommend the property to friends and relatives.

Charmant petit gite bien équipé

Ce gite rénové récemment, est équipé de façon moderne et fonctionnelle. Beaucoup d'espace même pour 3 personnes. Tout est

propre et bien décoré, salon très accueillant. La chambre avec terrasse est lumineuse, le grand placard très fonctionnel. A côté du coin cuisine, la petite pièce permet de ranger facilement les provisions. La propriétaire est très accueillante et très arrangeante

pour les horaires

L'emplacement du gite permet de faire beaucoup de visites dans les

lieux touristiques de la région. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir une autre

fois pour profiter de la région et de ce charmant pied à terre.

Booking Notes: Reservations are fully confirmed once a contract has been completed and signed.
Changeover Day: In July and August the changeover day is Saturday. Flexibility at other times. You will be met by the property owner who will explain the house and facilities and hand over the key. She will also come to see you on your last morning to do the checkout.

Notes on prices: Electricity, water, bed linen and towels, internet access are included in the rental price. A damage deposit of 150 EUROS has been paid in the booking and this is returned 7 days after the departure date by Owners Direct subject to the property being left in a clean condition and no damages. A fee of 30 euros will be deducted from the damage deposit if the property is not left in a clean condition.
