We have lived in Palau Saverdera for over ten years, we love the area as it's not spoilt by too many tourists, the season is only three months, which also we like.

Just right ..

Lovely apartment in a great location for the area .. Met by Jerry on arrival and made to feel very welcome .. made use of the pool and bbq every day .. 5 mins drive from Roses and the other beaches are an easy drive across the mountains .. The waterpark with new rides is just round the corner .. supermarkets are very close plus there are useful shops within walking distance .. we flew into Toulouse, stayed nearby overnight then drove down the next day which took a very easy couple of hours .. great views towards the sea .. Pasko's restaurant in the next village is a must ..

Great property, fab location, perfect host

We had the most wonderful week here. Jerry phoned us early on the morning of our arrival letting us know the property was ready. The welcome pack of bacon, eggs, milk, bread, butter. beer and wine was a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The pool and terrace were just fantastic - we made good use of the BBQ. Jerry really is the perfect host - friendly, informative and discreet. Roses is a large, bustling seaside town with a sandy beach - perfect for families - loads of restaurants, bars and things to see and do. Within a short drive there are many beautiful coves perfect for snorkelling. Cyclists are well catered for with quiet mountain routes. We can't recommend the property, area or Jerry highly enough. We will definitely be back. Thank you Jerry for a fantastic week!

Great location, super host

Jerry was a fantastic host. His response to mails prior to our arrival providing us with all information on the apartment and on how to get there were really helpful.

The apartment itself is spacious and provided us with everything that we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and Jerry even provided us with a stocked fridge for our first breakfast. Thank you! The apartment was clean and tidy on our arrival.

The pool, for our sole use, was a great treat not only for the children.

The location is ideal, away from the general tourist crowds and yet a short drive (6km) to the city of Roses.

Palau-Saverdera also has it's choice of restaurants within walking distance, so a trip to Roses wasn't always necessary.

There are many attractions close by, Jerry can advise on where to go and on how to get there.

This is certainly an apartment I would visit again and can recommend for a small family. Thank you Jerry for a lovely holiday.

Great holiday rental

From the moment we arrived at Gerrys apartment we knew we had struck lucky. We originally were going to book into the village hotel as abase for a weeks cycling but saw the reviews for this apartment and booked this instead. What a great choice. The apartment sits at the foot of the mountains and has fantastic views of both mountains and sea ( lovely sunsets too!)It is on the edge of a lovely old village with a number of nice restaurants. The small supermarket in the village provided everything we needed and was a 10 min walk. ( there is also a Carrefour about 2 miles away at Roses)We spent most of our time by the pool after our cycling and it was lovely to relax peacefully whilst having a cool dip in the spotlessly clean pool. The apartment itself was well equipped. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Gerry was a wonderful host and even invited me in to watch the football with him and his friends which was greatly appreciated.There are lovely beaches, the mountains are beautiful and we enjoyed visiting the Empuries ruins Cadaque, Castell, Sant Pere Pescador and Roses.Thank you Gerry so for a lovely stayJand we hope to return next year.

Excellent Property in Beautiful Location

This apartment is set next to the lovely village of Palau-Saverdera and enjoys great views of the mountains and sea. It has a beautiful pool and terrace area where we spent several hours each day. The pool was very clean and well maintained and we really enjoyed it.

The location is terrific, within easy reach of good restaurants, beaches, and shopping.

Jerry proved to be an excellent host with lots of information about the locality and providing detailed directions and maps to many places of interest. He couldn't have been more helpful.

Overall I can highly recommend this property and this location.

excellent property

The property was just as described in the listing and the views even better. It was extremely clean and comfortable especially the beds. The welcome pack provided was very generous and much appreciated ,and the owner and housekeeper very helpful. The pool looked beautiful but we were too early in the season to make use of it. There were many interesting coastal and medieval inland villages within a short drive. Local facilities within walking distance included shops and several restaurants and larger stores were only a short drive away.We would certainly recommend the property to friends and relatives. For us one of the major plus points was the peace and quiet of the location..

Location

Palau Saverdera is a small working village, which has everything we wanted in a village, so we don't have to go down to where it's busy in holiday season if we don't want.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

As the property is in a Park National there are plenty of walks in and around the wet lands where you can see a variety of birds.

We are twenty minutes from lake Darnius again where you can walk or if you are a but more adventurous, canoeing, swimming

and water skiing in available.

Coast/Beach:

We are just five minutes drive to a choice of beautiful beaches. Roses beach, Santa Margarita beach and the quieter wild beach.

Fifteen minutes drive to the wide busy Empuria Brava beach.

Tha large Aqua Park is just a couple of minutes drive away.

Go-karts are also two minutes drive away.

The Skydiving centre is ten minute drive away.

Travel:

We are Forty five minutes from Girona airport. One and a half hours to two hours from Barcelona airport.

A car is really a must to get around this beautiful part of Catalonia, as we are on a hillside.

Distances:

Just a two minute walk to our village shops, Tabacs and butchers, where you can pick up all your essentials. There is a friendly Italian restaurant not far from the apartment which has a good reputation for Italian food, we have three other good restaurants in the village all within walking distance.

Plus a number of small bars. We also have a Piano Jazz Bar, which is open very late.

Further Details:

Our village offers tennis courts, a large municipal swimming pool, which has a bar where you can purchase drinks and snacks. Check out the beautiful old small church. Also above us on the mountain side there is a tiny chapel painted white which is a good land mark if you have been out for the day and not sure where the apartment is.
